While the Jade Dragons and GTS members were busy with different tasks, Dante, Asphodel, and Netherius began their battle.

Vesnia was rushing towards the communication jammer to destroy it. Camille was waiting at the necromancer's home.

Sami and Lexia had destroyed dozens of necrotic cores, though they were still unaware of the events surrounding their allies.

Most of the group had gone to the southern checkpoint, where they kept the NSS agents as hostages for betraying Camille and sending her off to their enemy.

Even though Marcus was the chief of operations for the agency, he genuinely had nothing to do with Netherius' deal. Still, the mafia couldn't simply let him go, as he could be used as leverage later on.

"I'm going back in there…" Zac commented to the group.

"Dude… Look at you," Curtis replied, noting that the redhead's clothes were tattered from their fight against the Fire Death Knight and Saturio.

Zac was exhausted, and his body still hurt from the strikes Saturio had landed on him. However, when thinking about Saris' death, the berserker's anger inside of him began to boil.

"I'll go too," Alice spoke up, still holding Marcus's neck from the back.

"It's decided, then. The Omega team will go back in," Megan interjected, offering herself to accompany them. free𝑤ebnovel.com

Leaving the hostage NSS agents with the rest of the group, the original Omega team from the Jade Dragons ventured back into the necropolis.

As all events unfolded simultaneously, Netherius decided to start the battle against Dante by summoning a massive bone dragon.

The necromancer simply raised his hand with his palm pointing to the ground, generating a blue magic circle with a radius of at least ten meters.

A second later, the earth rumbled, and the skies darkened as strands of electricity began to appear from the circle. However, neither Dante nor Asphodel flinched.

Coming out from the center of the large magic seal, the dragon began to rise up as its body materialized, making it seem like it was coming from the underground.

"Ready?" Asphodel asked the warlock.

"As ready as I could be…" He replied, showing a hint of annoyance at the appearance of the bone monster.

When Dante made his black-feathered wings appear behind his back, Asphodel also extruded her bat wings and looked up at the dragon, who stared down at them before opening its mouth and unleashing blue fire from its breath.

The dragon's attack looked like a beam incinerating everything it touched, but Dante and Asphodel were quick enough to get away from the breath's reach.

As the warlock flew upwards and targeted Netherius riding the dragon's back, he chanted the spell "Rapture" and released an invisible slice towards him. Nonetheless, the necromancer was able to bend the bony dragon's back with his magic and turn it into a solid wall that protected him from the attack.

Dante knew that it wasn't ideal for him to face a necromancer as their different types of energy canceled each other out.

The warlock's umbra couldn't fully counter Netherius' necrotic energy and vice versa, so it could have been considered a battle of attrition.

Whoever ran out of magic first would be the one to perish. Still, Dante had a disadvantage there, as they were fighting inside the necropolis, so Netherius could keep on absorbing magic for days if necessary.

Right after Netherius blocked Dante's slice attack, a piercing shot of blood was directed at him from the other side, which he managed to barely avoid by whipping his head back.

Even if Dante was at a disadvantage in the battle, having Asphodel there made him believe that their chances of winning were equalized. Still, their struggle was just getting started.

With the bone dragon flying above the city skyline, Netherius raised his hand and produced numerous magic circles in the air, and from each, large stakes made of bones came crashing down like raindrops.

Dante and Asphodel maneuvered their wings to avoid getting hit, and when they tried approaching the dragon, it let out a roar that made them stop abruptly before pushing them back with incredible force.

Asphodel crashed through the windows of a building, leaving her in the middle of an office that was fully covered in death ichor, while Dante landed on the top floor of a roofed parking area.

As Dante stood up, he shook off the dust off his jacket and sharpened his gaze when looking at the dragon, waving its massive wings in the sky as it hovered menacingly above them.

"We'll need a bit more of firepower…" Dante muttered to himself.

Almost as if the woman had listened to him, a blinding red light appeared from the office where Asphodel had crashed, catching the attention of the necromancer, who grinned evilly at the sight.

Standing on the edge of the hole in the building, Asphodel's body produced red and black energy whilst holding an elegant, crimson rapier in one hand.

"Mythic Relic: Kali," Asphodel whispered, increasing the intensity of her aura and shattering the glass of the building's windows.

Without moving from her spot, the vampire mother pointed the tip of her weapon toward the flying dragon and thrust forward a few times, hitting the air as if she were practicing her moves.

However, not even a second later, the bone dragon shook as numerous strikes began to stab its wings and body.

Each attack appeared seemingly out of nowhere, and they looked like red waves of energy that materialized right next to the dragon, making it impossible for it to avoid them.

Of course, it was all Asphodel's doing. She could use her Mythic Relic to attack from a long distance, and while her rapier looked thin, each of her attacks had the weight of a moving truck.

The dragon's shaking its body made Netherius hold onto its back so he wouldn't fall, and believing that he would need a more vigorous defense for his minion, the necromancer grinned and placed his palm on the dragon's back.

"Bone Manipulation…" Netherius chanted, covering the massive bony beast in a cloud of dark energy that shrouded them from their opponents for a few seconds.
