As Wolfram kept discussing with Imera the events of the past that led him to team up with Netherius, the Sacred Beast listened attentively, though her fist had been clenched the entire time.

The wizard didn't want to take the necromancer's deal, considering he already had thousands of years of lifespan after eating the heart of the Ruby Lion. However, he never expected that others would go after him.

"Others…?" Imera asked, wondering if there were additional Sacred Beasts hunting him for the murder.

"Angels…" Wolfram replied, leaving an eerie silence that hung in the air for a moment.

"Why would Aelara's angels come for you?" Imera asked again, breaking the silence and frowning with suspicion.

"Because I was looking for a way to recreate the convergence. The angels wanted to bury all of my research along with me…" Wolfram explained.

"And they succeeded," Imera finished his sentence, prompting the wizard to nod affirmatively.

Wolfram never knew the reason why the angels were so focused on hiding all the information about the convergence, and in the end, before getting impaled by dozens of angelic weapons, he was forced to take Netherius' deal.

The wizard didn't expect to return to life in the world he was desperately trying to find. His plan was to search for clues related to Goddess Mystara, but he got caught up in Netherius and the Onyx Cartel's schemes.

Even though Wolfram's contract with the necromancer was different from the other undead, there was still a limit to how much freedom he had.

As an undead born from Netherius' powers, he couldn't oppose him since he could easily get mind-controlled and defeated.

However, if he could find a way to move his soul to another vessel out of Netherius' control, then Wolfram would be completely free.

"You speak as if you already know a method to do this…" Imera commented, and the wizard didn't deny her suspicion.

When the man took out a large diamond-shaped gem from his pocket, Imera's eyes widened in surprise, sensing a large source of power oozing from it. However, she mentioned that it felt displeasing.

The gem was the size of Wolfram's fist, quite heavy, and had a light blue hue that enhanced its beauty.

"Precious stones are expensive in this world, but their purity allows for very powerful magic to be stored within…" Wolfram explained. "It's a magic conversion stone." he continued.

A few days after Wolfram got brought back as an undead by Netherius, he began his work on the gem, determined to find a way to free his new body from the necromancer's control.

Relishing the fact that he kept his memories and experiences, he secretly waited for the best moment to use the gem, and believing that Netherius would be busy for some time with the creation of the necropolis, he took the opportunity.

The conversion stone allowed the user to pour their magic of choice into the gem and release it as necrotic energy.

When a person tried to control a magical energy that wasn't suited for their bodies, it could have terrible repercussions and side effects.

Dante was an example, as he fell unconscious for days after transferring Lexia's soul into an android. However, if he had used the gem, he could have simply converted his 'umbra' into necrotic energy and move the woman's soul without consequence.

"Are you trying to ask me for a favor?" Imera asked right after Wolfram finished his explanation.

"I think this could benefit both of us…" The wizard replied.

The Sacred Beast took a deep breath and lowered her guard, clarifying that she hadn't forgiven the wizard for the murder of the Ruby Lion.

Still, Wolfram wasn't looking for forgiveness—he just wanted to survive and continue his search for Mystara.

Uniting forces with Wolfram against Netherius would definitely be beneficial for everyone, and having the gem with them could also be helpful.

While Imera was a woman who acted on instinct and emotions, she was also old and mature enough to understand that her grudge against the wizard could put her family in danger. As such, she decided to leave the matter of Wolfram's atonement after the battle with Netherius was over.

Meanwhile, inside the necropolis, Balthazar, June, and Ezekiel walked along the corrupted streets after their encounter with the Thunder Death Knight and the necrotic android.

The trio had taken out a few more cores that were spreading the ichor, but the amount of corruption didn't seem to diminish.

At one point, Balthazar sensed that his mother, Asphodel, was nearby, so he decided to guide the others to her, thinking it would be good to report what they had seen.

Ezekiel was curious to know how Balthazar could locate their mother so easily, and the elder vampire explained that, as he grew older, he would be able to locate any member of their vampire family with ease.

"You are still young. You'll get there eventually," Balthazar said with a caring tone to his little brother, making June think that their relationship was too "cute" for a family of vampires.

Suddenly, the earth started to rumble, and the skies above the city darkened even more, prompting the trio to stand still momentarily with wary eyes.

"Did you guys feel that?" June asked, but she wasn't talking about the earthquake.

Not even five seconds later, they heard a loud explosion and saw smoke rising from a street not far from their location. From the smoke, a gigantic beast with wings unveiled itself.

Even when they were streets apart, they could see that the monster was the size of a whole building. Its white body seemed to be made purely of bones, including the wings, which released a thick miasma of necrotic energy.

June stared at the monster in awe and fear, commenting that she had never seen anything remotely close to the size of that thing.

"I-is that a dragon…?" Ezekiel muttered, also afraid of the beast's appearance.

Balthazar, who was the most experienced in the group, stayed silent with his eyes widened in shock at the sight. Still, he could sense his mother was further ahead, so he was determined to help her if necessary.
