Modern Cultivation : The Strongest Couple Bonded by Vampire System-Chapter 680: Marauder
"Is none of them gathered on some planet?"
Looking for them in an Empire urban city would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
And they would actively distrust her, afraid she would report them to the Empire.
Even without asking, Alice could guess what happened.
They lived in paranoia, not even believing their own partner.
Their child was the only exception, because both parents would be on the same boat.
"I haven't found any, and even if I do, I will avoid it. Attacking their settlement like that is suicide.
You cannot underestimate a vampire. Now fairy aside…" Karr didn't finish his words, but it was clear what he meant.
Even though both of them had lost their Progenitor, fairies were weaker than vampires.
There was also the possibility they had lost their magical knowledge as they tried to hide it while living in secret.
Even worse, some might cut their wings to hide, making themselves even weaker.
"So all my fellow fairies were massacred?" Alice asked, feeling grim.
"Death would be the better result. I'm sorry to say this, Alice, but you don't understand the darkness of humanity.
A race like yours, beaten by war, will be treated as slaves in their society.
Vampires are the most expensive, but at the same time they're strong, so many will just be killed on sight."
"Do you know even this collar they put on us won't work on vampires?
This dampens our energy and stops us from using it.
Mana, elements, fairy dust, anything gets interrupted. But life force? They can't do anything about it without harming them."
Alice took a metal skewer from Silen as Karr continued.
"Fairy race suits the taste of humans. To them, you're the epitome of beauty. So many of them end up as toys and slaves for royalty.
The things they do to them will make your hair stand up. I know some get lucky with a good master, but for most of them… dying would be better."
Alice tightened her grip. She started thinking about Lilly and the other fairies.
With their situation now, she couldn't help but imagine the worst had already happened.
Just thinking they got auctioned while people bid made her skin crawl with anger.
If not because of her interaction with Alex, she would have already sworn to kill all humanity.
"Haha. You should stop worrying about others, Alice. Don't think being here means you're safe from that fate.
Me, Karr, you, and all prisoners here can be sold at any time."
He then pointed upward.
"Have you heard about the Universe Tube?
There's a channel named Humanity Prison, followed by the planet name.
Our planet here is categorized as the most VIP one, and it probably has every single action streamed there.
Even when you kill, or go to the bathroom, or sleep, everyone can see it."
The lack of privacy didn't concern Alice at all.
She could not care less about it when her own people were in danger.
"Wait a minute, what happen when someone took interest on us, don't this mean they need to come here?"
Karr chuckled, knowing what Alice thinking.
"They come just like before, but don't think anything stupid. Do you think you can beat them while having most of your power sealed?"
It's not like they have zero hope on killing cultivator even without their power. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
There were still some exceptions, like Silen.
"If we can unite everyone to fight back, that might be possible.
But before that, you need to do something about that planet-wide formation." Karr pointed up at the sky.
'If it's Alex, he should have a way to modify this formation,' Alice thought.
She considered asking Alex for help, but decided against it.
'No. I should try by myself first.
At the very least, I need important information about this place.'
Alice asked, "Do you think we have other fairies and vampires here too?"
Karr chuckled. "I don't know.
Even though everything is streamed, they still choose what gets shown and what information goes out. I doubt they'll show us if there's a vampire locked here."
"I know there's a fairy clan here," Silen said. "They're hiding underground."
"Underground?" Alice's eyes lit up. "Does that mean the formation can't penetrate underground?"
Silen shook his head. "I've never seen any stream coming from underground, but I doubt it's that simple.
It's probably one of two things. Either the underground people have some purpose, so the Empire hides them.
Or it's a trap to make them think they're safe."
He paused, then added, "A life without hope makes people kill themselves."
Alice frowned, but she didn't give up hope. "Then that should be our first goal. Find a way underground."
"Every underground entry will be guarded by the clans here," Silen said.
"Clan is what prisoners call factions. It's how people survive together.
The ones who attacked us earlier are the Marauder Clan. They grow by raiding others for resources."
"You seem to know a lot about this, Silen," Karr commented.
"Of course I know. After the council kept that smuggling operation going, I looked up the worst-case scenario.
I learned everything I could to raise my chances to survive." Silen's eyes hardened.
"I don't want to die yet."
Seeing Silen's gaze filled with determination, Alice suspected he knew a way out of here.
Maybe his teleporting ability was the key.
But she didn't ask. Not now. They were under surveillance, and her goal was also to make contact with the fairy and vampire prisoners here.
She looked toward the dark sky. 'Somehow I feel there should be a vampire here. They're probably hiding underground, biding their time.'
With a goal in mind, they took a rest, not realizing a group of Marauders were already coming close.
"Are you sure the fairy is here?" one of the leaders asked.
The Marauders rode some kind of makeshift vehicle. The leader was a human.
"Yes, sir. The space fluctuation came from here. I'm sure they escaped to this place."
"She seems to be the leader of the new arrivals. If we can get her…" The man smiled cruelly.
