Mecha Devourer System-Chapter 221: Mission Begins
The Elloron Family.
It wasn't just a simple family; it was one of the three major ruling families that ruled over Niron City.
They were like the government, issuing every law and command.
Right after dropping off at the airport, Everlearn headed straight to the manor's location as illustrated by his X-watch.
As expected, security was more than tight.
He was dropped far away from the gate and had to walk forward, where guards were already at checkpoints.
They naturally stopped him, asking for his identity, and thankfully, that was something easily resolved.
He had no idea how it worked, but his X-watch displayed an identification barcode that could allow him entrance into the Family Manor.
He showed the guards, who, after eyeing him suspiciously enough, finally scanned his barcode, displaying shock for a moment before opening the gate and allowing him in.
"Either being an X-Guard is really cool, or the Base used a high identity code for me to enter…"
There were three more stops like that before he finally arrived at the main gate.
This time, he was led forward by a man, who handed him over to a lady in a maid's outfit.
Both discussed for a moment, and she turned to him.
"Please come this way."
Entering the manor's gate, he stepped into an ultra-large hall that should technically be the living room, but Everlearn didn't care much for the beauty.
He was led up a long flight of purple stairs before they arrived in a quiet auxiliary room.
It was empty, save for a single teleporter oozing motes of green light at the center.
"The teleporter leads to the abode of House Princess Ellianor."
The lady said with a quiet bow, and Everlearn's eyes furrowed.
He had entered a manor, and now he would have to enter a teleporter in one of the rooms to reach the place where the "House Princess" lived!?
"Thank you,"
He said before stepping onto the teleporter.
It naturally activated itself, and in the next moment, a flurry of green motes of light came rushing out, forming a bright dome around Everlearn.
It was so bright the maid shut her eyes, and when it all receded, the light had long disappeared, and Everlearn was gone.
____________
The sensation was familiar.
A standstill in pitch darkness that drowned out all senses, but in the next moment, it all brightened.
"Interesting,"
Everlearn mused quietly on arrival, looking around him.
It was a beautiful garden all around him, filled with roses and lilies, except that instead of the usual red color, everything was a bizarre shade of purple.
Every single leaf, every single tree, all in purple.
The breeze blew around the area, sending his hair quietly whipping around him, and he turned to find a castle, of course, in the same familiar purple color.
It was quite high, around two hundred meters, with its tips reaching into the sky, close to the clouds.
He walked toward the shut gate, his hand reaching for the circular iron ring on the door.
RIIIIIING!
RIIIIIING!
RIIIIIING!
A clear ringing sound echoed as he knocked on the door, and about five seconds later.
The large gates quietly slid open.
A blinding wave of purple light shot straight toward his face.
He raised a hand to block it, but the light quickly dissipated, and he stepped in.
She instantly caught his eye.
A lady sprawled over a fluffy-looking purple round chair that seemed more like a ball with a sinking space in the middle.
All over her were grimoires.
Not the ancient-looking type, but the fantasy adventure type, as Everlearn could already see princess-and-kneeling-prince cartoon images drawn over them.
They covered the ground, the seats, and there was one currently on her face.
Quietly, she stirred, a finger reaching to her face and pulling the book up, revealing a single eye that stared at him.
There was a tired sneer on her pursed lips, but the sight of him immediately wiped that off, and it slowly turned to disbelief.
She quickly jumped off the seat, brushing her hair into place, smoothing her dress, and finally clasping her hands together.
One moment, she was like a lazy cat drowning in fantasies, and the next, she was like a cute, naïve girl who had never stepped into the outside world.
None of it, though, was of any interest to Everlearn.
"You must be Princess Ellianor. I'm here to help look for your lost earring."
He said, and she nodded four times in a blink.
"What's your question?"
"I've got quite a few, but the most pressing is…"
Everlearn paused, studying her face for a while before asking.
"Why not just get a new earring?"
"Huh?"
She blinked twice in confusion.
"You gave out a request to search for your lost earring."
"Well, why not just get yourself a new one and get it over with? Is it that expensive, or…?"
Though it sounded funny, Everlearn was genuinely confused.
A lady looking for an earring was understandable. He agreed to that.
But posting a search for an earring through the number one Corer organization in the world was ridiculous.
Why not just get a new earring at that point?
Was it made from so many diamonds that it required such a thorough search?
"It's priceless…"
She answered, and this time he noticed her face actually regaining some seriousness.
"The earring is priceless. That's why I need to find it at all costs."
She said once more, with conviction blazing in her eyes, and he hummed.
I guess it must have been from some high-grade material.
Whatever it is, it might be worth my time.
"Okay then. Where was the last place you felt it must have dropped?"
Everlearn asked.
The lady displayed a quietly lost expression at his question, making Everlearn wonder if he had said something wrong.
"I… just at the back of the building. I was swinging, and when I got inside, I couldn't find it anymore."
"It must have fallen while I was swinging."
She said, and he nodded once before leaving.
The door soon shut with a thump, leaving Ellianor blinking quietly.
He accepted it so fast…
She thought in quiet disbelief.
Saying her earring was priceless.
She had expected him to ask what made it so special, what minerals it was made of, and what its price was.
These were the questions everyone who had come before him had asked.
But he asked none of that, simply confirming that the earring was truly important to her and moving out to search immediately.
She jumped off the seat, landing wobbling on her feet.
"Tsk. Shock."
She muttered, looking at her wobbling legs.
They had been placed in the same position for so long that they had gone numb.
But they recovered a moment later, and she raced up the purple stairs.
________________
Just like she said, there was indeed a large garden at the back of the castle.
Actually, it was really very large.
There were no walls at all, just an endless plain of purple flowers that stretched as far as his eyes could see.
Closer to the castle were purple iron swings with two seats, two hanging rope seats, a small desk with two chairs, and even a comfy air bed currently on the ground with two pillows.
Looking at how everything was in twos:
'Maybe there's someone else living here,'
He thought quietly before walking over to the swing.
One of the seats had that clear feminine perfume smell, the same one his nose had picked up around her.
The other had less of it. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
He reached toward the swing chain and pushed it with force.
It swung around the iron bar immediately, gaining momentum before stopping.
'She couldn't have been swinging that hard, or she would've ended up wrapped around the pole.'
'Using that as a basis, it's safe to say if the earring truly fell here, then it could only be within a maximum circular radius of about three meters.'
He thought quietly.
Looking at the garden, where flowers reached up to his knees and whose soil he couldn't even see, he knew he'd just gotten himself a job.
Everlearn didn't waste any more time.
'Hey, system.'
He thought, quickly navigated to the shop tab.
In the next moment, a magnifying glass appeared in Everlearn's hands, and he quietly put it over his left eye.
He changed out of his X-Guardian uniform into something more comfortable, a pitch-black hoodie with matching ankle-length trousers, then crouched down to work.
With the magnifying glass aiding him, Everlearn could easily search through every nook and cranny of the soil and flowers.
...his mission here had begun.
