Mecha Devourer System-Chapter 201: The Chaos Begins (I)
Those were her first words, the second he stepped out of the elevator, and before he could come up with an excuse, he watched her rise to her feet, tapping on the table twice.
A part of the large desk immediately opened up, a red button being pushed out. She immediately slammed down on it.
SLAAAAAP
The sound that echoed wasn't metal, but flesh, and behind her spectacles, her dark eyes widened as she noticed her hand hovering just above the button, with his beneath it, only a few inches away.
She turned upward to find those dark eyes staring at him.
They were ghostly and unnatural, and a glint of shock flashed through her eyes.
"A Halo Mask!"
"Sit down. I only have a couple of questions…"
BOOOOOOOOOM!
CREAAAAK!
The sound of a heavy explosion rang out as a fist smashed into Everlearn's chest, the faint sound of bones cracking echoing through the room.
He was immediately lifted off his feet and blown roughly through the air, smashing his back against the wall before sliding down.
He raised his head a moment later in time to witness her slamming her hands on the red button.
BAAAANG!
The second she did,
WHIIIIIIIIIIIIR
WHIIIIIIIIIIIRR
WHIIIIIIIIIIIRR
The clear sound of an alarm rang out through the entire base, the lights in the hall blinking crimson red as they flashed all over.
Everlearn could hear thunderous footsteps, a clear sign that the guards were already swarming upward.
His cover had been blown by her.
He slowly rose from his seat, turning to look at the lady who stared at him suspiciously.
"You know, in the movies, when thieves break into an organisation and order everyone face down, even with a gun in their hands."
"I always thought it was stupid for them to keep shouting face down when they have such massive guns in their hands, and considered it pointless for them to roughen up the bank staff just to make them get on their bellies."
He continued,
"But now, I understand I'm the dumb one. Attempting to talk your way through is the dumber path."
His words revealed to Clestene that he really was an invader.
"If you stand down and let yourself be captured, you might get off with your life," she said.
But in the next moment, she watched as Everlearn's body quietly shifted backwards.
"You should have sat down when I asked you to…"
Those words rang in Clestene's ears as her hands immediately clenched into fists.
She was a W-grade Corer. Verily, she could take on a lone amateur thief.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A claw covered in massive, bulging veins smashed into her stomach with such raw, primal force that her body took a back-facing 'C' in the air.
BLLLEEEEEERGH!
Blood burst out of her lips as she was blown backwards, but she never moved back a meter when Everlearn flashed, appearing behind her.
His hand grabbed the approaching head, his claws clasping on her face and then,
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG!
The entire hall was cracked into a massive crater as she was smashed headfirst into the ground, burying her upright in it.
In an instant, she was knocked out cold, red blood filling the crater.
Everlearn gave one look at the ragged, bloody body before ignoring it and stepping toward the monitor.
Thankfully for him, she was still within the servers and had not yet logged out, easily allowing him access.
"What to do?" he asked Sara, who immediately instructed him.
His fingers flew across the keyboard as the sound of footsteps grew louder, and he began to sense presences in the corridor.
BOOOOOOOOOM!
"OPEN THE DOOR!"
The roar rang out from the side.
BOOOOOOOOOM!
BOOOOOOOOOM!
BOOOOOOOOOM!
Three more booms rang out, cracks spreading across the length of the reinforced door.
"Is it loaded yet?" Everlearn asked, his voice calm yet hasty.
"One sec. One second. One sec. I got it!" Sara shouted in his ear.
KAAAABOOOOOOOOOM! 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
A powerful explosion blew the entire door to dust.
"FREEZE!"
The words rang out just as hefty guards stormed in, weapons raised toward Everlearn, his right leg lifting instantly in response.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG!
He slammed down onto the ground with force, opening a crater that swallowed him whole, disappearing down the floor beneath.
"Two secure Staff Clestene! The rest with me!"
A powerful-looking guard barked an order.
Two guards seized the unconscious woman from the crater and hauled her away as the remaining seven plunged down into the hole Everlearn had disappeared through.
_____
"Seven are rapidly chasing behind."
"Five from the door coming to the left side, and six from the front. Take the right door down five meters."
The words echoed in Everlearn's head as he sped forward, taking a sharp right corner and continuing to race down the long hall.
"There is a mass movement outside blocking the entrance to the building. Do not go down that path," she instructed as he halted on his left foot.
"There's a window."
"Run down the alleyway on the right," Sara instructed as Everlearn leapt through like a blur.
"Climb up the steps. There's a corner door at the side. Take it."
"The window is the fourth door to your left."
In an instant, he was inside the room, swallowed by ghastly darkness. His eyes adjusted in seconds, and he spotted it.
He reached out, his hand morphing into massive golden claws that tore through the wall, cutting out the hidden glass window.
Through it, the world outside the base unfolded before him, and his breath froze.
"Holy shit…"
Everlearn cursed low.
"What's wrong?" Sara asked from the other side, and he replied,
"Tanks!"
Right before Everlearn's eyes, heavily armoured tanks surrounded the base, their barrels all aimed at the entrance where he was expected to emerge.
In the next moment, he quietly crawled out the window and swiftly climbed to the rooftop.
"That place is high enough. With one powerful leap, I should be able to make it to the other side."
He mused to himself as he quickly scaled upward.
His hand reached the edge of the base, and he pulled himself up, only for his muscles to lock down completely as hundreds of laser lights covered his entire body in an instant.
"It's over."
