Mated To My Stepbrother-Chapter 47
Aria pov
We both turned to the doctor in total astonishment. Jaxon stared at me suddenly and back at the doctor as he stood and walked towards him.
He held the hands of the doctor and pulled him to a corner. "What do you mean by someone who paid the bill? I am aware that I have not paid a dime. neither has my mom transferred, so how has the money been paid?" Jaxon muttered to the doctor and The doctor looked back at me for seconds and then concentrated on me. Then he spoke up,
"it was a man who paid, and for some weird fact, he looked exactly like Aria. I could swear that they were siblings or uncle to
Aria", the doctor said, and just then, I recalled the words from Jaxon.
I felt so scared but did not need an old doctor to notice that I was that scared. I turned and looked away, but my hand shook, and I shivered in fright. I
was so scared I decided to hide it. Jaxon noticed I was a bit scared and moved away closer to the door to whisper to the Doctor. Who seemed confused if I was in his position. I would also be just as confused as he was.
"Why are you acting like no one was meant to pay the bill? I was also surprised you paid early when we had not done the job yet". The doctor told him and Jaxon stood there silently, unable to say anything.
Soon after, the shiver continued to get worse, and Jaxon noticed as he hurried towards me and sat with me, holding tightly to my hands. As I continued to act bravely,
"do not worry; we are very much aware of the person who paid the bill." Jaxon lied. I could tell he was lying and had no idea who the person was.
The doctor stared at us both for a while and then walked away as I turned my attention back to Jaxon.
"What did you mean by you knew who paid the bills? Of course, we don’t know who it is."He smiled wildly and hugged me tightly as a way of compensating me and trying to cool my nervous nerves down.
"I know it’s that weird man who stood in front of the door. It cannot be anyone else but him, and I don’t plan on letting the doctor know we have no idea of who he is in case when he barges into here. But there is just one thing I need you to tell me," Jaxon whispered to me and then paused for a while. I could tell he wanted me to tell him the truth and tell him who that man was, as I suspected he might be my father.
I decided to brace myself and act bravely, as I stayed directly at Jaxon, and he smiled awkwardly; "just tell me it. I can tell from your aura that you know who he is." he continued.
"Yes, sometimes I act so strange, but I care for you the most, so you are meant to tell me the truth," Jaxon told me. I knew he was trying to use his words to get to me, but I just did not have the might and bravery to tell him what he wanted to hear.
how I was going to start explaining that my father had messaged me earlier telling me he wanted to return or the fact that I just got to realize my father had been in jail.
All this while, I stared at him as he continued to stare at me." Nothing is going to go wrong if you decide to confide in me." he whispered again, I continued to stare at him for as long as possible, not because I planned on telling him the truth but because I was looking for a way to cook up a perfect lie for him until my mother returned, and I told her about everything.
I still would not be able to tell Jaxon anything because I don’t know if my mother even wants Jaxon and my stepfather to find out my father is still in existence.
After cooking up a perfect lie, I returned to Jaxon.
"I cannot just understand you, Jaxon. What is so hard for you to believe? I tell you, I know nothing about this man, but yet, you make it sound so odd like I have something to do with him just because he looks like me and paid for my medical bill. He might have anything to do with my mother, but that has nothing to do with me. If I tell you, I can still recall my father’s face. I am lying to you, so I hope that is enough for you to believe me."
He looked away and stood up, but just as he was about to walk away, my phone beeped, and my heart almost flew away. I knew it was my father messaging me. I did not want to check it, and so I held onto the phone tightly.
Just then, it beeped again, and Jaxon turned to me as we stared at each other for a while, awkwardly.
I was in a more awkward state, for it was my phone that continued to beep, and I continued to behave like it wasn’t even affecting me in any way.
"Why aren’t you picking up or checking the messages?" he said to me this time, his voice seeming a bit different.
At first, I behaved. I did not hear anything but noticed that Jaxon was still standing there. I looked up with a smile.
"It might just be a scam message", I lied but unexpectedly, he pulled the phone from my hand.
"Jaxon, please just let it be." I pleaded but he didn’t give it back and just continued to go through it, he soon turned back to me with a deep frown.
"You said you don’t know him?"
