Mated To My Stepbrother-Chapter 48
Aria pov
"Take, put in the password," Jaxon said to me.
I swallowed my nervousness as I thought of a way to speak up. He continued to stare at me with so much concentration; he wanted me to talk, no matter what. I looked around, and then slowly, I brought out my phone to my face.
I put the password very slowly as Jaxon continued to watch me, and just then, it opened, revealing the message.
It was truly from my father, and he said multiple words to me, like how he had paid for my hospital bill. He also questioned why I got injured and that he had been standing in front of the door for some while, and he listened to everything the doctor said, making him a bit scared that something might happen to me.
I looked up at Jaxon as Jaxon continued to stare at me, waiting for me to respond to the message, but instead, I stared at the screen while trying to cook up a lie to feed him.
He noticed I was hesitant again, and he harshly collected the phone from my hand. I was so scared that I tried to look away.
He went through the phone as his eyes came through everything, and then he stopped looking up at me with a deep frown.
"I cannot believe all these messages are from him. Even if he is a stalker, he could not be a stalker for that long, and now I have gotten to meet your daddy myself."As Jaxon said those words, he paused as his gaze was still on my phone.
He must have seen the last message about my father claiming to have left jail and is in search of me.
"Does your mother know your father is here now? Does she know that he is alive and looking for you? " Jaxon asked I smiled awkwardly, thinking of the perfect answer to give to him. My head had completely gone blank, and I couldn’t say anything;
"It’s just that was the problem," I said
"I have no idea if he’s my father or if he just claimed with my father because we look like things. That is the problem? Yes, at first, I had badly wanted to know who my father was and see him, but at this stage, I didn’t even care. I don’t want to be involved with him in any way, and now this weird stranger is claiming to be my father. I am only scared because he will come in between my mother and your father.."
Jaxon caught me off guard as he chuckled loudly and walked around the hospital room. I felt too scared and confused. I wonder what was going through his mind that made him laugh loudly. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
He turned to me so sharply and smiled.
"I don’t really care from the text, I could tell he is someone with a little bit of criminal act, and I would not want you to get involved with someone that violent. Aside from that, I don’t have a problem with your father."
At first, I felt thankful for what Jaxon had said.
As I began to think about it all, I noticed something. He did not care what happened in the family; he only cared about what he wanted.
Jaxon continued to go through all the text messages, and I lost track of the fact that he could also go through all my other text messages with other people. I came to him and pointed my hand out towards him. He stared at the phone screen for seconds and then sluggishly gave it to me.
"What?!" he asked.
"I want my phone back." I requested.
He gave it to me reluctantly.
Suddenly, the atmosphere between the both of us seemed a bit different. I could tell he had seen something he did not want to tell me, and now that he knew that the weird stranger who had paid my bills was my father, I could not believe he had met him first; I was even confused. I had no idea what to do.
I thought of a way to lighten up the atmosphere and decided to use a joke, but none came to me as my brain seemed all black, with nothing to see. It was as if Jaxon had also noticed it as he sluggishly walked towards me and sat beside me.
"You do not have to be awkward around me. I also have things I’m keeping from you, but I do not think it is the right time to tell you yet," Jaxon said, so I kept silent. Just then, I recall that he had not told me anything about his five-day voyage that I could not find him, and I had called him multiple times, but still, he did not reply, and then suddenly, he arrived out of nowhere.
I decided this was not the right time to bring up the topic since I was also at fault in this situation and did not want to cause more arguments between us.
I just smiled at him as he held my hand tightly.
"Are you sure you do not want him to come back? He seemed very good at making you happy." Jaxon said to me, but I did not care, about what he said I just smiled at him. I liked Jaxon, which was why I felt awkward around him, but Tim was my best friend, and I could tell him everything and all the jokes. I wanted to tell him.
"I won’t tell you the main secret you want to hear so badly. I have something else I can say to you." Jaxon said breaking the silence. I nodded as he hugged me tightly as if he was trying to avoid my gaze.
"I would only let you know that someone is coming to our school next week, and I would prefer you not to get in her way. We should just try our best to avoid her." Jaxon said to me making me confused
