Chapter 96: In Which Home Was No Longer Home

[RANIA]

That evening, Rania knew her world had completely changed. She had had options and could have told them why she did it, but she just couldn’t stand the looks on their faces. She had been banished, and that fit well into what she had wanted all this time.

To leave Obren and never come back.

Of course, she would miss Dalrae, and sometimes the people who hated her, but she was better off getting her freedom in the human and free lands. She didn’t have to wake up and worry about her pack or what was the next best thing for people who prayed for her to end each day.

So many things were going to happen now that she was banished, but Rania just hoped that with her gone, they could be happy. Maybe she was the one who had been blocking their strain of luck but with how things were, she couldn’t put it all on herself.

"Are you thirsty?" Dalrae asked Ranaia for the tenth time since they had come from Obren.

For an overly talkative woman, alpha Kim Rania was silent the whole ride back home. She had wanted to contest riding with Dalrae, but Dalrae had brought her horse with her, and hooked it to hers, so there was just no way Rani would disappear without her.

Beta Dalrae knew so well that her best friend didn’t even want to go back home. Rania wanted to make a run for the hills right this moment, but she just couldn’t let her. Dalrae still needed her best friend, even one last time.

She needed the girl who had always shown up for her more times than she had even shown up for herself. Rania would always be the sister Dalrae never had, but the sister Dalrae was always going to be thankful that she had, even if it was just for a few decades.

’If only you’d let me in,’ Dalrae said to herself, carful into to show she was defeated, because then Rania would worry for her, and Rania could do a lot of things, most of which could make her a wanted woman, not that she would even care.

Dalrae understood her friend and wanted to go with her, but she knew that Rania wouldn’t let her go. She wouldn’t put her Dalrae in danger and that alone made it one of the harshest punishments for Dalrae too.

She was losing the one woman who cared for her and loved her genuinely, and the world was applauding in the back.

It hurt, but maybe it wouldn’t hurt for long. Maybe when the sun went down and dawn came, they would be alright, but it did seem like a long and harsh story that even she didn’t want to listen to this time.

"No, Dalrae. I’m fine. Don’t worry too much," Rania said and Dalrae just sighed. She knew the punishment the council ahd given her was a harsh one even for Rania.

Sure, Rania had always wanted to leave home, but then she always knew she could come back as he wanted, but this time, she was losing everything in her home. She wasn’t even allowed to come back, because, to them, she was officially a rogue.

She was the alpha no one wanted and the girl everyone didn’t want to see. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

The home she ahd protected with her life was rallying to see her gone and the only thing she had to say or do, was nothing. She was tired of fighting them.

As they went back home, Rania thought back to Oshita and then the agreement Paloma had told Rania she made with King Nathaniel of Drarun, the Vampire king who despised rogues. Paloma was a fighter for her people, but damn, her on one side with king Nathaniel was new.

However, Rania wasn’t going to judge the woman for making a choice that even she could have probably made. It had to have even a good enough agreement for Paloma to agree to whatever Nathaniel wanted and to give her someone of her rogues.

Granted, there was only one thing Paloma ever wanted, and that was a home for her rogues. She wanted them to be rogues, but from a place. A home that they could call their own, and the only unclaimed land in the whole of the supernatural realm, was the Altunia territory.

It was the only place that had no people actually living in. It was rich and everyone wanted it, but the vampire king had never thought too much into it. Nathaniel had let the land be, and let everything there be preserved.

’She really did it, huh,’ Rania thought to herself happily. At least one of her people was having things go right for them. Paloma and her rogues were going to the Altunia territory, if they hadn’t gotten there yet at the moment anyway.

The outcome was perfect, because prince Jungwoo and Nathaniel got their closure, and wouldn’t be bothering Rania anymore. And Park Jihoon got the justice he had been yearning for for a while now.

Granted, alpha Jihoon was shocked by the verdict, but there was nothing he could do about it, other than agree with Rania and probably thank the woman for giving him closure.

Everything was alright and Rania couldn’t have it any other way.

"The beta is here!" one of the warriors at the Incayon gates announced and the werewolf rushed out of their houses to see for themselves what was going to happen now. The only way Dalrae would be back was if there was a judgment already made and right now, they were anxious.

The fact that the warrior hadn’t announced their alpha’s appearance was proof of how much the Incayon wolves despised Rania. They didn’t want anything to do with her, and this time they had gotten what they wanted right?

At the gates of Incayon, Rania and Dalrae were met by the Incayon wolves who were excited to know what the verdict was. Sure, they had heard the rumors, but they wanted to see for themselves what had really happened.

So they waited for their alpha and the beta to come back in, knowing so well that they couldn’t try to lay a finger on Rania, easily when she was with Dalrae. Funny how the girl she had saved was now saving her, but then that’s what life played out for them, right?

"Hello beta," the wolves greeted Dalrae, and expectedly ignored Rania who just stared at them softly, like this was going to be their last goodbye. She could see how happy they were when talking to Dalrae and she hoped that they would always be this happy.

After all, everything she had done was for Incayon, and no matter where she ended up, Rania knew she would always be fine.

"What was the verdict?" Alpha Kim asked when he showed up with his wife beside her. They were looking at their daughter like she was just another stray wolf in their pack and that hurt. Then again Rania was already used to it by now, so this didn’t mean shit to her.

Her parents had always despised her and wanted her gone, even though her mother always pretended like she cared. Well, in the end, they were getting what they wanted right?

"The alpha has twenty-four hours to leave Obren and the supernatural lands, never to come back again," Dalrae said in a clipped tone, as she watched their people cheer on.
