Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 95: Justice Delayed, But Justice Given
[RANIA]
Rania watched the council as they gathered and argued about what decision to make. They wanted to give her the death sentence, but it seemed like that was what Rania wanted, and they weren’t going to play her game anymore.
So they thought and thought before one of them went to the king with the decision they had made. Of course, the king would determine if that was right, or if he could override their decision. However, as Rania looked at them, she knew the decision had been made and the king agreed. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"The decision regarding Kim Rania’s crime against the Calindra alpha has been made," the king began and the wolves in the room held their breaths. This was by far the most anticipated trial in the history of the Obren werewolves. Maybe because it was also the first lunar trial.
Oh, the things Rania made possible.
"After careful consideration, we have collectively decided that the Inaction alpha will be stripped of her title, and be banished from the supernatural lands for at least ten years.
"If she comes back to the lands, after ten years, her penalty in Obren still stays and the alpha will be considered a rogue wolf, just like all the other rogues and won’t be allowed back in Obren.
"Lim Dalrae, the Incayon beta, is hereby upgraded to the Incayon alpha, effective immediately, and her position can be contested if she proves to be a bad leader," the leader of the council said and the murmurs in the room began.
Rania wasn’t even looking at anyone at the moment.
She knew if she looked at Jihoon, she would snap and break his neck which could land her in more trouble and this time, she wouldn’t plead guilty to anything.
She didn’t want to look at the prince, the man who had trusted her for a long time only to end up disappointed. Rania was so many things, but a fallout with her best friend was something she had never thought would happen. But it did and there was no going back anyway.
Lee Daehyun, the calindra beta was looking at Rania with a broken heart, but Rania wasn’t even staring at him anyway. If anything she knew there was a chance he was on the same side as Jihoon. After all, she had murdered their luna.
Han Seong was staring at Rania, the anger on his face tempting him to tell the council of things that would force Obren into a meditation period, a time when they would need a lot of prayers to the goddess to determine what was wrong and right and what circumstances were acceptable.
Han Seong, just like Dalrae, felt like Rania had disappointed them for the first time. Sure, she always killed aimlessly but one thing about the Incayon alpha was that she never did things just for the sake of it.
She always had her reasons and they were always valid. Though this time, no amount of validity would make up for the fact that the woman was slowly giving up. It was disappointing as fcuk.
"Alpha Jihoon, what do you have to say about this?" the council asked Jihoon and he looked at Rania. He was supposed to be happy that his nemesis was being stripped of her position as the alpha and even banished from Obren.
He was supposed to be glad that nothing could ever be the same for Rania. But as he looked at the council, the king, and then finally at Rania who had closed her eyes, not to see anyone, Jihoon felt a pang in his heart.
This was the first time The Caalindra alpha was feeling it and it hurt like hell. It was the pang of betrayal though he wasn’t sure why he would feel that when all the council had done today was to give him and his Luna the justice.
He had some that zoned out in the middle of the trial and his wolf had been awfully quiet. The moment the sentence had been read out for Rania, Jihoon had felt like he couldn’t breathe, like everything was suddenly not making any sense and he was genuinely confused.
So when the council asked him what he thought about the trial, he just nodded and gave them a thumbs up, which was weird. The man had been too vocal, too angry at the fact that Rania ever got to face trial, and yet now that she has faced trial, he was feeling like shit.
Daehyun looked at his alpha and he tapped into their bond, and what he felt was terrible. It was like Jihoon was experiencing the side effects of losing a mate, only that this time, he didn’t have a mate, and it certainly didn’t have anything to do with the fact that they were here for Yanna, right?
"Alright, this marks the end of the Luna trial. Alpha Kim Rania, you have twenty-four hours to leave the lands before you become prey to any and all werewolves you’ve wronged over the years.
"Maybe the goddess has mercy on your soul," the leader of the council stated before everyone left the room. Of course, the king was the first to leave, and then the other alphas.
Han Seong had to leave too because he did want to stand there and trust is everything okay. With everyone gone, it was just Jihoon, Rania, Dalrae, the prince, and Lee Daehyun.
"Rania," Jungwoo called out, and this time, his voice wasn’t filled with anger or anything. Strangely enough, it was filled with care and worry for the alpha who had brought the trial upon herself.
Maybe the prince had expected that Rania would end up in the dungeons for three years or even five years. But what he hadn’t expected was that she got the harshest of punishments. It was too harsh, and to think that he had advocated for this.
Rania opened her eyes to see prince Jungwoo looking at her worriedly, while Jihoon had confusion in his eyes. It was almost like they are yet to process the fact that Rania had been given that punishment.
Clearly, none of them had expected that Rania would be banished from the supernatural lands. She would be a rogue for all the factions and that was really a dangerous thing.
"I deserve it. Anyway, can we please go home, Dalrae?" Rania said to her best friend who was still pissed. But Dalrae understood her. She knew Rania had been hurting for a long time and that the whole rejection in her teens had messed her up.
Dalrae didn’t care though, she wanted her best friend to be okay and if walking away from the dan palace was it, then she would gladly do it. Besides, it wasn’t like there was a way out of the lunar trial’s decision, right?
"Yeah, let’s go home, Rani," Dalrae said as she helped her best friend up. there was more she wanted to do for Rania. She wanted to convince Rania to challenge the trial decision, but Rania had already made up her mind, and trying to convince her was pointless.
So defeatedly, Dalrae walked out with her best friend, leaving the three wolves who had supported the trial and benefited from it behind. they looked happy as they wanted the psycho leave, and maybe e, just maybe Obren would be safer with Rania gone, right?
