Chapter 94: Let’s Get This Over With

[RANIA]

"Are you sure about this?" Dalrae asked for the hundredth time since she and Rania had come out of the chamber Rania had been using.

She was more than ready to take Rania back and if anything, she could easily claim that the incayon alpha was not in the right state of mind, hence the rash decisions she made concerning the trial.

Dalrae needed to know why this was so important for Rania, especially when she had spent years throwing it in their faces that she was the one who had killed Yanna.

"Yes.... and we’re here. Promise you won’t throw Jungwoo against the wall again, or even slice Jihoon’s throat," Rania said to Dalrae who looked at Rnaia like she hadn’t been planning the murders of those two men since Rania had gone to take a shower.

It was something she couldn’t put past herself really, especially since it was the only thing keeping her sane in this damning trial.

"I can’t promise that—"

"Come now, Dalrae. If you didn’t promise that then we’re going to go back," Rania said as she looked at her best friend.

It was quite hilarious how she had spent years thinking of how to kill Jihoon and now that Dalrae was more than willing to do it and reunite the man with his mate, Rania was skeptical. Maybe there was still something she needed to find out, but wasn’t she always the one with answers?

"Fine, if you insist. But on the condition that none of them try hurting you. Don’t expect me to sit back and watch them lay hands on you, Rani," Dalrae said and Rania nodded because that was fair enough.

She had asked her best friend of the hardest task and now, she just needed to make sure that everything was alright before her best friend showed everyone into the deepest pits of her fury. Oh, how the two sisters were so eager and yet anxious for this damning trial.

Sighing, Rania pushed open the doors to the throne room, constantly getting the attention of everyone in there. Of course, the local wolves had also come back as Rania had requested, but they had managed to keep their distance.

The royal guards, for instance, had kept their distance. Hell, they weren’t even looking at Dalare as the woman walked into the room with a smile on her face, and her arm in Rania’s.

It was almost like they were two best maids to a damn wedding and not two people who had come to the judgment session of one.

"Hello everyone, I’m Dalrae, Incayon’s beta and this is Rania, my sweet dear alpha. Be nice to us and no one dies," Dalrae said as she walked Rania to the center of the room before she then walked to the place where the alphas were.

She was the current leader of the Incayon pack, and had every right to be here. If anything, she intentionally chose the seat next to Jihoon, as if to tell the alpha that anything he did would have consequences.

"Greetings, Obren. Welcome to the second and last session of the luna trial. Kim Rania, alpha of Incayon. You know the charges against you. The charges that claim you murdered the Calindra alpha.

"How do you plead?" The king said and Rania didn’t even hesitate this time. She was tired of the mad man’s dance, and as she looked around the room, there were only two people who seemed to be warming up to her.

Dalrae and Han Seong, and if Rania looked well, she would have seen Lee Daehyun, the Calindra beta looking at her with eyes of pity, not that she cares about the pity of her enemy anyway.

"I plead guilty. My intentions towards the Calindra luna were malicious and I murdered her in plain sight under the guise of a pack war. I accept any and all subsequent charges and will accept any and all decisions you make.

"I, Kim Raia of Incayon, plead guilty to all the charges, mentioned and unmentioned," Rania responded to the king and for a moment, the way of the throne room went dead silent.

The woman who had never accepted the fact that she had murdered Yanna, the woman who everyone had been scared of. The woman who had been untouchable was finally touchable. But did that make any sense when she volunteered for the trial itself?

The king looked at Rania and he noticed that there was something different.

This wasn’t just Yanna and her murder anymore.

This was about an alpha who had lost everything, one who didn’t mind losing another aspect of her life because she just didn’t care anymore.

This was about the girl broken by Obren and her family. The girl without support, and more than anything, the girl who had fought for her people, and yet the same people had branded her a psycho.

This was about Kim Rania, the young girl who had finally given up.

Everyone never thought that there would come a day when they would see defeat and fatigue on Rania’s face.

However, as they looked at her, they couldn’t help but realize that she hadn’t made any snarky comments, she hadn’t tried to provoke anyone and she hadn’t said a word to the prince of eve the Calindra alpha.

"Do you have a reason why you plead guilty?" the king asked, like he wanted to give her a chance to defend her else when she was already tired of even staying in Obren itself. It was like she was waiting to be sentenced to death and then get this over with.

However, the murmurs in the room were something else. They had all come here to see the smug Rania. The woman who thought she was important. The woman who faced her troubles head-on and the woman who never went down without a fight.

Currently, that woman was missing because as she stood there before them, they were worried for her, which was an all-time new.

"I had my reasons. Legitimate reasons but I have had enough of the trial. You guys waited five years to even know what happened that day and why I did it. As much as I would like to stand here and be judged by you, I’m sick of this.

"So make your judgment, your highness. Let’s get this over with," Rania said, looking everywhere but at Dalrae. She knew Dalrae didn’t approve of this; she knew her best friend was heartbroken, but Rania was tired of dragging it out.

For five years she had lived under the shadow of the chaos that came with her murdering Yanna. She wanted to start over without anything that could bind her to the lands that had been a little too quick to judge her. S

he was the girl with everything and yet she was the girl with nothing. So much had been lost, and she was tired of holding on.

"Okay. Please be patient," the king said as he looked at the royal council. He was waiting for what they thought about Rania. the woman coming out of her shell to accept this, just a few hours after pleading innocent was crazy, but what else could they even do, right?
