Chapter 93: Paralyzed by Hate?

[JIHOON]

"Let her be," the king said and Dalrae smirked at the warriors.

Of course, King Jeon Seojoon knew so well the repercussions that Dalrae had stated weren’t shit talks and that they were as real as they could get.

However, he hoped to the goddess that she didn’t go ahead with them because then, it would be hard for him to keep the kingdom running when two psychos were loose. It would cause a lot of chaos and the factions would frown upon the werewolves, and that was too expensive.

With Dalrae gone from the throne room, the royal council burst out into murmurs. Hell, even the warriors were thinking of so many things right now.

They had been bested by a woman who had come in the room, with nothing on her but her regular clothes. She didn’t even have scary weaponry and she had managed to outsmart everyone in here.

"Alpha, let’s be patient if we want the lunar trial to proceed without any more hitches," Lee Daehyun, the Calindra beta said to Park Jihoon who was looking at him like there was more than his beta needed to explain.

Daehyun still had his own suspicions about the authenticity of Rania’s crimes against Yanna, but he couldn’t voice them, at least without proper evidence. He knew he had to find whatever it took to make sure that they were about to prosecute the right person.

But then it seemed like the Prince was so invested in this trial.

Anyone could easily assume that the prince had a crush on the slain Calindra luna, but that was almost impossible because the prince had been in captivity during the time Yanna was brought to the Calindra pack house, not to mention during the time Yanna was murdered.

It was impossible for him and her to have known each other by that time anyway.

"We have waited for five years to get justice for my Yanna. The stalling is making me sick and you are siding with them?" Park Jihoon asked his beta disappointedly but Daehyun was adamant.

He wasn’t sure what Rania was playing at, or even that he was biased because of what he had heard Rania say that day in her sleep, but one thing Daehyun had always believed in, was justice, even if this time, it was just nothing more than a statement.

"Patience, Jihoon. Patience," Daehyun insisted and the alpha just sighed. He wasn’t about to argue with him because of Rania so he just looked at him. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Maybe he really needed to be patient and trust the process, but then it seemed like each attempt to get close to Rania and get her to open up kept being thwarted by the woman, or even nature itself.

It was like everyone wanted answers but the universe was leaving the answers at bay, for fear of what would happen when the answers came out in the open.

"Everyone, take a break, we resume the meeting in the evening," the king said and they looked at him worriedly.

The meeting should have been done now and then sentencing too, but then they had to respect the threat Dalrae had given them she had looked more pissed than everyone here combined. Sighing threaders walked out of the room, leaving Jihoon, and Jungwoo in the throne room.

Prince Jungwoo was pissed and he had every right to, because no matter how long this went, nothing would change the fact that his sister was killed, and there were witnesses, and the woman who had done that was just a little too adamant.

"Don’t even start with me too," prince Jungwoo said to alpha Jihoon and Jihoon just raised his hands in surrender.

He knew how hurt the prince was, hell even he was hurt, but if they were going to get through this, then a clear mind was a necessity they needed to face the truth and accept that sometimes their realities would remain different.

"I guess I’ll see you later, yeah?" Jihoon said as he walked out of the throne room.

Away from the throne room, Rania was sure to get an earful, however as Dalrae watched her best friend sleeping softly and her heart hurt for Rania. She knew that Rania was determined to get this phase out of the way.

It was like she was doing everything possible to make sure everyone hated her, and dragging the trial was something she was sure to achieve.

"Dalrae," Rania whispered as she woke up and looked into the angry eye of her best friend. She knew what she had wanted, but Rania also knew that wasting time would make things even more complicated.

She wanted to get away before Paloma showed up because if Paloma showed up, then it would be game over for Rani and her allegations and that was certainly a danger to her plan.

"I’m sorry. I know I keep saying it, but Dalrae, I’m tired. Everything is going in circles and everyone seems to think that I should be on the bar. I’m slowly dying inside and while I refuse to acknowledge it, I think this trial is my chance to get away for a minute.

"I just need to leave Obren for a while. Maybe go to the humans and start a life there, and I need you to be on my side this time. I need you to accept it and let me go, Dalrae. Otherwise, I’ll just be a dead woman walking.

"This is not me giving up, I promise. I will come back, but for now, I just needed to take a moment from everything that had been happening. I need to know what my life would be like, if I didn’t have everyone hating me," Rania said softly as she watched Dalrae’s anger conform to understanding.

Of course, Rani had always wanted to leave Incayon. Dalrae could tell that she had made up her mind and that was why she was doing everything possible to make things go awry and piss off the council.

She wanted to leave. She didn’t want to stay in the toxic kingdom anymore. The hate was paralyzing her and she was done with it. She just wanted to be a free bird even for a moment, before she came back.

She needed to fight for herself because at the end of the day, there was just no way she would save Dalrae from what was coming, if Rania was mentally incapacitated.

Rania needed to be in her best state when that happened, because the battle for Dalrae wasn’t just any battle, but it was worse than her battle for a mate that led to a hundred rejections for her. Dalrae did not know that thought.

"Okay, Rani. But if Jungwoo tries that shit again, then the king will have no prince to take over once he retires, because I’ll make sure his stupid son will be dead," Dalrae said and Rania just smiled at her.

It was the only thing she could do. Maybe when all of this was done, she would be happy like she wanted to be, but did Rania have a happy life waiting for her or would she be hated wherever she went?

"I’ll go take a shower, Dalrae. The council expects me back by the evening, and I want this over and done with this time," Rania said and Dalrae just in understanding, before she helped Rania to one of the bathrooms in the room they are currently in.

She hated this, but for Rania, Dalrae would do whatever it takes to see her get what she wanted, even if it was so insane.
