Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 89: In Which She Lashed Out
[RANIA]
"Not guilty. I plead innocent, your highness," Rania said as she stared at the royals, daring them to get up and refute her claims. Of course, she had pleaded guilty more than once and now she was suddenly pleading innocent? What the hell was she even playing at?
The royals looked at Rania, curious about what was going on in her head. The wolves in the room and even the alphas who had shown up were watching, waiting to see how this would play out, because it was certainly one kind of a twist in their lives.
"There are witnesses placing you at the centre of the stabbing. And you have been going around telling everyone that you stabbed the Calindra luna.
"Do you still stick to your plea of innocence?" the head of the royal council asked again and Rania just smirked at him, staring right into the man’s eyes, before making an insistence.
"I plead innocent," Ranai said and the throne room broke into murmurs.
Everyone in the throne room was against Rania and was thinking of just how much audacity she had for her to show up and deny the claims when she had been the engineer of everything. It was absurd.
Park Jihoon looked at the psycho alpha, almost getting up, and if it hadn’t been for his beta, Daehyun, holding him back, the Calindra alpha could have rushed to Rania and started a fight. She was baiting him and he was hopelessly falling into her trap.
It was working even for Jungwoo, because he couldn’t believe that after everything he had heard about Rania, she still had the guts to deny what everyone was seeing. But then had everyone really seen what Rania had done?
Or was there some magic at play there?
"You’ve gotta be kidding me. After everything? People fucking saw YOU, Rania. You were the one who stabbed my Yanna and you’re suddenly changing your mind? If this was your plan, then why did you bring us here?
"To make a fool of us once again?" Jihoon said angrily, slamming his hands on the wall. His patience was getting thinner by the moment and if he wasn’t careful, he would be in trouble with a lot of people.
Daehyun really understood his alpha, though this time, even he was uncertain of whether Rania was truly guilty. He had been thinking about what he had heard, and the more Daehyun thought about it, the more he was sure that something else was going on.
This was slowly not being about Rania and her crimes against Yanna anymore, but about the things Obren owed Rania.
"Okay, okay, fine. You got me. I thought I could buy myself some time. Anyway, let’s make this simple and short, okay? I killed Yanna in cold blood. There was something about her annoying face that made me want to punch her intestines with my blade.
"You people should be glad I just stabbed her, and she died instantly. If anything, she didn’t even experience any pain. The dumb little shit was dead the moment she opened her mouth to breathe.
"Oh, and one more thing, she looked at me first, scarring me, so I stabbed her in self-defense," Rania said coldly, with a straight face, and yet for some reason, her face was filled with smiles.
She looked like she was talking about something she had spent her time planning and finally making sure happened and boy that was just it. She had planned to kill Yanna for a long time and that battle was just the perfect place to finalize her plan anyway.
Rania’s tone wasn’t nice at all. If anything it was rebellious and full of scorn and dares, like she was daring anyone to come at her. Her statement was the complete opposite of her former declaration at the party, barely a week ago.
"What will you do to me then?" Rania asked angrily, all her smiles disappearing and she was back to being the psycho they were so desperate to make her into.
She didn’t care about anything anymore.
Besides, her Dalrae wasn’t here to witness whatever they would try and do to her, so there was just no reason for her to be worried, but she really needed to.
"You killed a luna—" Jungwoo growled right when the king cut the meeting short. King Seojoon didn’t want to cause a bloodbath in the throne room, at least not without enough evidence.
"Everyone, we will take a break. The royal council will converge here in thirty minutes with the pack leaders. As for the rest of the wolves, wait for the verdict later. Dismissed," the king said when he noticed how the prince was getting more agitated.
King Seojoon had questions, but then he also knew that Jungwoo was on the side of justice.
The lunar trials were never heard of in the history of obren. Sure, the rules were there just in case, but no one had ever decided to murder a luna just because they could. It was unheard of, but then Kim Rania had the ability to make the impossible possible.
The wolves streamed out of the room, leaving the royal council staring at the prince and Rania like there was something the two of them hadn’t said to the council and the royals.
"What was that about?" the king asked his son now that the local wolves had left the throne room. He knew that what Jungwoo had done was not right and while he didn’t condone that, he really understood his son. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
He was just glad that Jungwoo was no longer holding back.
He was letting his wolf out even because of his former best friend the king and queen had watched their child grow up and one thing they had long been sure of, was that nothing would ever come between Rania and Jung woo. But today seemed to be producing them otherwise.
"You people don’t really understand huh? She killed a luna. She invoked a Luna trial and for what? This woman is nothing but trouble and from all that, we’ve heard about her, she shouldn’t even be an alpha in the first place," Jungwoo growled out angrily, making everyone in the room go silent.
Even the leaders who had something to say, just opened their mouths and closed like fish gasping for air.
Alpha Park Jihoon however understood the pain that Jungwoo was experiencing, hell, even Rania knew it too, but then it seemed like Rania couldn’t give two shits about the crown prince.
"Oh really now? For someone who has spent the past ten years and more trapped in Nathaniel’s dungeons, you sure have a lot to say about me. How much did you pay to let you even get through adolescence, huh?
"Or wait, did mommy dearest know that her vampire ex-boyfriend was holding you captive all this while? Or daddy dearest knew and even then he sent the weak warriors to get you, right? Aah yeah, and I had to play dead in the goddamn dungeon for your stupid ass.
"You really have some nerve when you’re nothing but a privileged kid with abandonment issues desperate to prove to daddy that you’re good enough to be the crown prince they once knew—"
