Chapter 82: The Daring Alpha [1]

[RANIA]

"Can I come in?" Rania asked when she knocked on Dalrae’s door. It was open and Dalrae was inside, sitting reading a book she had picked up to distract her from her friend’s horrible reality. She despised it, but what else could she do anyway?

Dalrae didn’t even look bothered by Rania’s presence, instead, she ignored her best friend and went back to reading her books. Rania had made it clear that she didn’t want to involve Dalrae in whatever was happening, so she wasn’t even going to try and convince her otherwise.

Dalrae was done.

If Rania wanted to get killed, then she could damn well go on and do that, but Dalrae, she was done and done.

"You’re the alpha," Dalrae responded coldly, and Rania flinched. She deserved that for everything that had been happening though. But no matter what happened, she couldn’t have it any other way. Maybe this was her chance to say goodbye to Dalrae.

"I— Yeah. Well, I just came to say goodbye. I’ll be going to the palace today. My trial should begin next week, but with Nathaniel already knowing that I killed his daughter, I’m betting that the vampires are going to come to Incayon.

"A lot of them. So be careful alright? Anyway, Goodbye, Lim Lim, take care," Ranai said, and even then, Dalrae didn’t lift her head from the book. That was when Rania knew that this time, there was really no going back.

She had to go through this alone.

She was scared, but she wasn’t going to show it. Anyone who wanted her gone, was already at the palace. The whole of Obren was watching, hell the whole world was staring at her, waiting to see if she would do right by them.

From Dalrae’s room, Rania just walked out of the pack house and headed to the gates. She had nothing on her, except for the clothes she had put on. She didn’t have any food, or water, even though the road to the Obren palace was a long and crazy one.

The pack members looked at her, the woman they didn’t want to be associated with. They don’t know what to expect though, especially when she walked toward the gate, not even caring to smile as she always tried.

She had nothing to be happy about. Her best friend was mad at her, and her parents had never once cared what was happening to her. Her people wanted her gone and now, the whole of Obren was out for her blood.

’Taking a horse seems like a lot of work,’ Rania said to herself when she got to the stables. She knew it would be dangerous to go to the palace on foot and she knew it would take her at least three days, if she used her werewolf speed.

There were also so many dangers that she would face, not to mention the possible ambush by werewolves who wanted her gone. Even then, Rania thought it was a good idea to go to the palace on foot.

She didn’t bother with the horses, instead, she touched her horse, like an owner saying goodbye to her favorite horse. She could feel the anger piling up, the rage at what was happening right now, but she wouldn’t try to fight them.

They were right to want her gone, and she was right to face the Luna trial. However, one thing is certain, no matter what happened to her, Rania would still make the same choice she had made, when she killed Yanna in cold blood.

"Goodbye, Incayon," Rania said as she walked out the gates, making everyone wonder where she was headed. Before the gates closed, she looked at Dalrae’s window and Rania could have sworn she saw Dalrae.

However, she just smiled, before telling the warriors at the gates to lock the gates, once she was gone.

Maybe with her gone, Incayon would be a happy place.

Maybe then, they wouldn’t have to worry about their reputation for being stuck with the girl who brought nothing but disgrace to them. Maybe then she would give them a chance to be normal, the pack that didn’t have to deal with more of Rania, right?

The walk to the palace was going to be long, but Rania wasn’t worried about that. She didn’t care whether she reached or not, because one thing was certain, the royal council would never forgive her for murdering the Calindra luna.

She would be sentenced to death, so she figured she could sentence herself to it, and feel numb enough to not feel shit when she made it to the palace. Maybe then, it would be a quick and easy execution.

’Damn, I should have at least carried water,’ Rania reprimanded herself eight hours later when she was fatigued and too weak to even make another step. The worst part of it was that she was nowhere close to trees that could provide her shade, not to mention that nightfall was almost.

And everyone knew how dangerous it was in Obren at night.

Sighing, Rania sat on the roadside, taking off the cloak she had covered her head with and laying it on the grass. She wanted to sleep, even for a few hours.

Maybe when she woke up, she wouldn’t be dehydrated as much and she would have stocked up on the energy to keep going.

She knew she was insane, so she wasn’t even surprised anymore by her own choices. And so Kim Rania lay on the roadside, hoping to sleep off her weary state, but barely ten minutes later, she was awoken by loud laughter around her.

At first, she didn’t bother trying to tell them to shut up, but then she heard a familiar voice, one she had worked so hard to banish and a voice that had been dangerous to Incayon.

She wanted to keep pretending, but she couldn’t, not anymore, because she knew that no matter what happened, she would always have to face him, not that he was scared.

"Goodness Oshita, could you please shut the fuck up. I’m trying to sleep here, y’know," Rania said, her eyes still closed as she pulled her hair to cover her face, but there was nothing. Her once long hair, she couldn’t feel it.

That instantly got her opening here, yes.

The sight before Rania horrified her for a moment, but she didn’t let it show. They had cut her hair, and it was all over her. she didn’t want to believe this, but then a part of her already expected the bullying to start the moment she had accepted the luna trial.

She knew they were doing this out of spite and she knew she wasn’t going to give them the satisfaction of watching her crumble and fall.

Of course she could decide to go up there and bash the truth in their faces, but that would be too cruel, even for her. They were not ready for it, and there were so many things that could go wrong if they pushed Rania.

So she was going to try and hold on, no matter what they did to her. She wasn’t going to fight them back, even though she could kill them with her eyes closed. She was curious to know what would happen if she went ahead and faced the trial.

She was doing this out of curiosity, not because she was obliged, because she wasn’t obliged.

"Good evening, Rania. I see you’re looking great."
