Chapter 66: I Believe We Need To Talk

[JUNGWOO]

"If that’s so, then what did you do to her, for her to come after my sister, and your mate?" Jungwoo asked and for a moment, Jihoon faltered. He had done so many things to Rania.

He had played a big role in who she had become today, but confessing that to the prince and her best friend of all the people, would land him in the dungeons of Obren instead of Kim Rania. And Jihoon couldn’t afford that. So he chose the stupidest reason to give the prince.

"Well, I mocked her and told her she wasn’t wanted. Everyone mocked her, but she took her anger out on me, of all the people," Jihoon said and Jungwoo could tell there was more.

However, as much as he wanted to continue the discussion, he knew that he had a kingdom to run and a party to plan.

They could continue these conversations some other time, when everything was calm and there was no reason for anyone to be scared of the psycho going after the other psycho.

The two were destructive together and if they were to go against each other then Obren needed to be overly prepared, because whatever happened, they both would want the other to intervene.

"You and I both know that won’t be a reason for murder. I don’t know what you did to her, but I know nothing would ever warrant the death of my sister. I’ll send word to the king of the undead, and let him know that his daughter is dead, and that it is his fault.

"Maybe it’s time you got more help in bringing down Rania. Until then, we have a party to attend and a kingdom to keep jovial. Every other thing can wait," Jungwoo said to Jihoon who just let out a sigh of relief.

He had thought of all the reasons he hated Rania and yet each time, he realized he was simply being an asshole to the girl who had faced one too many rejections.

"Alright, I guess this is to see you soon, yeah?" Jihoon asked when the prince got up.

Of course, they both knew that their discussion was far from over, but they had to make sure today was a success. So much had already happened and they couldn’t afford another scandal, especially not at this time of the day.

"Yeah. And be careful. From your history with Rania, I wouldn’t be surprised if she killed you first," Jungwoo said honestly to Jihoon who just nodded.

Of course, the Calindra alpha already knew that, but he would fight her till the last day. He would fight till he couldn’t fight anymore, and if ever Rania would be the one to bring him down, then he wouldn’t go down without a fight.

"Yeah, yeah, as if. Anyway, take care on your way home. Daehyun just told me that the royal warriors are back," Jihoon said as he walked the prince out. He knew there was a truth to what they had talked about, but he would forever deny that he ever tried to hurt Rania.

If anyone asked for the reasons why Rania hated him, he would try and spin everything in his favor. And in the present obren, anything Rania did would never be appreciated even by the damned king himself, not to mention her people. So Jihoon was still at an advantage, but for how long?

"Goodbye, my prince," Jihoon said once the prince was done checking in with his warriors to know if what he had ordered them to do was done.

Seeing as there was no need to stay here any longer Jungwoo left the calindra pack and saddled back home. He was angry and curious at the same time. He hated that Rania had murdered his sister.

He had been hoping for thirteen years that he would tell his sister that she wasn’t alone.

He had tried to stay alive in Drarun, because he had only one hope. To see the sister who had been kept a secret. And now he had fun out she had died, and that too, by the hands of the very woman who had saved him. How could a person be so cruel to the other?

Jungwoo wanted to battle shit out with Rania, but he knew he couldn’t do it directly. The only way out for him was to use Jihoon. Together they would fight Rania and demand justice for Yanna Park. They would make her pay and make sure she felt the brunt of everything.

That evening, the party at the royal palace was grand. All the packs came and so did their leaders. Expectedly, Kim Rania and Lim Dalrae had also come. Of course, Rania didn’t want to come, but with Dalrae’s convictions, she had to come and see for herself what the fuss was about.

The party was beautiful for the better part of it, but sometime at midnight, Rania decided she had had enough of listening to the ungrateful wolves of Obren interact with each other.

She had pushed Dalrae to go and have some fun instead of trying to take care of Rania all the time. That was Ranai’s condition for coming to the damned party and as her best friend, Dalrae agreed.

However, Dalrae didn’t go too far from Rania. She was worried that the woman would get angry and snap necks, well she could do that even with dalrae beside her, but that wasn’t the point today.

"Something changed, Rani," Dalrae had said to Rania when they got to the party and saw the prince glaring daggers at the Incayon alpha. Of course, Rania knew that what she had expected had happened.

She had deliberately avoided giving the prince her version of everything, not because she didn’t care but because she needed the prince to stay away from her.

If the prince of Obren was seen getting all friendly with the most hated wolf in Obren, the people would hate him too, and Rania didn’t want that for the best friend who had just come for a world of the undead.

She wanted him to live, and fight for himself.

She wanted him to be okay, that was the only way she would repay him for not going to save him sooner.

No, she wasn’t apologetic about Yanna, if anything, if they went back in time, Rania would still murder Yanna, and maybe this time, she would do it in a more brutal way than the last time. That was how much Rania hatedYanna Park.

"He knows already. Now you go have fun, and I’ll try to have fun too. Remember not to drink from you know who’s cup, alright?" Rania said to Dalrae who saluted her jokingly.

Rania was being such a mom to her, but what they both hadn’t realized was that they were more than family to each other. They were everything anyone would ever want in life, but theirs was the friendly version of it all.

"Remember Rani—"

"I won’t kill anyone, I promise!" Rania said before adding loudly so that all the wolves who were within proximity heard her, "as long as they didn’t try to fuck with you, they will all be safe. Otherwise, I’ll burn Obren down for you, love."

Maybe Rania was crazy, but maybe she was just protecting the most real person who had cared for her even at her worst. After all, Dalrae was her lifeline.

"I believe we need to talk."
