Chapter 51: A Wake Up Slap Into Reality

[DRARUN]

"Jeon Jungwoo, it’s been a while since I saw you. You were just a little boy who didn’t even have teeth yet. You have definitely grown into a man," King Nathaniel said and Jungwoo just looked at him boredly.

This man had the audacity to show his face, after all the years that had passed. But then again, Jungwoo had always wanted to see the face of the dreaded king of the undead. He wanted to see if there was something binding them together.

This man right here was supposed to mean more than life to him, but as he looked at the king, Jungwoo couldn’t help but think that all of this was a waste of time.

Rania looked at her best friend as he sized the king. She wanted to tell Jungwoo that she was not going to leave him here, but that was too much of a risk.

"Your father is a weak man Jungwoo, he couldn’t even come to save you himself. And now I hear there are intruders in my kingdom. I got to his intruders through. Two men who had come to save you in a bid to seek the favor of the Obren king.

"Seems to me like Seojoon never learns," Nathaniel said and Jungwoo held back a scoff. He knew the king was baiting him to do anything to him. He knew the man wanted him to react, but the stoic face the prince had on hand stayed.

It seemed like this all didn’t matter to Jungwoo, but it all mattered. Before he could say anything that would put him at even a greater risk, he turned to look at Rania. Jihoon was heard heading towards Rania’s cage to free her.

If Rania was free then the two of them would have an easier time helping the prince out. However, Jungwoo needed something else. He needed Rania to scold him and tell him not to do anything.

His best friend was looking at him with eyes that were pushing him towards the king of the undead.

"You’re a coward," Jungwoo spoke out for the first time, making everyone in the room gasp in shock. He was a prisoner and he was already daring the king?

What did he really want then?

"I’m sorry, what?" Nathaniel asked, unsure of what the young prince had said. Surely this kid didn’t just call him a coward, no? And that too before the high guards and his brother, not to mention the woman who had been in the cage beside him.

"I said you are a coward. You, Nathaniel Maximo, are the coward of the century. I have never met a coward like you. Frankly, if I knew you’d look this pathetic, I wouldn’t have waited all these years for you. It’s a shame that I have to see you like this.

"Don’t tell me you think you’re here because you wanted to. You are here because I sought you out and you fell for it. You are here because you think I will take your side in the war against my father.

"You are here because tomorrow is my execution day and you are hoping I could give you a reason to not burn me at the pier, but I won’t do that. Besides, even if I die, you will go down as the coward of the century.

"I ain’t ever seen a coward like you, thank the goddess for that," Jungwoo said ever so slowly that Jihoon and Rania could have sworn he was possessed.

Barely a few hours ago, the young prince of Obren had looked like he was experiencing the worst of the worst conditions, and now, he was talking at the king, that too, with a lot of disdain in his voice.

Did the two of them cross the realms just to come to watch the stupid prince push himself to his own death?

Damn, they should have stayed home.

Jihoon silently cursed himself for this. He shouldn’t have agreed to the dam mission, because this was worse than Kim Rania killing his mate out in the open.

"Is that so?" the king asked angrily, pinching his nose so hard that Rania was worried it would pop off anytime soon.

"Why, are you deaf or does being an undead make your senses irrational too? I hate you, with everything that I don’t already have and even if I had anything, I would still hate you with all of it too.

"You are a disgrace to the supernatural society," Jungwoo said and the king angrily pulled the hinges of the cage, leaving him and Jungwoo facing each other. The young prince wasn’t even scared of him and no matter what happened, he had to maintain his cool.

Rania and Jihoon were worried for the prince, but they didn’t even know what to do at this point.

"I see you think you have more time eh?" King Nathaniel asked Jungwoo before turning to the high guards, "ring the bells, the prisoner is of no use to me anymore. His execution is now," Nathaniel said and stared right at Jungwoo’s eyes.

He had expected to find fear or even worry about the young prince looking at him like this meant nothing.

Instead, he punched Nathaniel.

The prince had done something that no one had thought of doing and if his execution was a sudden change, right now, Nathaniel was sure he wanted the prince dead.

"Overdose him on wolfsbane and silver, and boring Hilton the pier. I will watch him burn myself," Nathaniel said and Jungwoo let out a smile. He seemed like he was happy to have punched the king of the undead. He wasn’t worried, not even one bit. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"I don’t care what you do to me, honestly. That was for my little sister, Yanna," Jungwoo said and an eerie silence ensued. Anything that breathed right now, could be heard well and clearly. The shock on the king’s face was golden and that made Jungwoo smirk.

Finally he was seeing the reaction he had been hoping for after all these years, but then he wasn’t even the closest bit to being done with the king. The punch was a reminder that Jungwoo had suffered in this cage and it was all this brainless king’s fault.

The way they were talking to each other, anyone could assume that Jungwoo was Nathaniel’s son, but was he?

Surely they could have known that there was a hybrid in their caves, right? Then again, wth the way everything was always kept under wraps in the palace, it was difficult to tell whether this was a bluff or they had just witnessed the worst of society breathe into life.

"Aah, I see. So you go around punching people for the sake of your sister. Does she know how stupid her brother is?" Nathaniel asked and Jungwoo let out a scoff. This king really was clueless, wasn’t he?

He had regained his composure and Jungwoo had to acknowledge that. At least he wasn’t entirely a clueless king.

"She already knows her brother is stupid, but she doesn’t know her FATHER is an insufferable ingrate parading around in undead lands, and ruling without a care in the world.

"You and my mother bore a hybrid, the first of her kind, if that shit isn’t going through your head you dipshit. She had grown up without a father and instead of her mother telling her, the both of you left her to suffer in Calindra and live the life of a regular wolf when she is royalty.

"I will never forgive you and mother dearest for the pain Yanna has gone through all these years. Just you wait till I meet her again, you will be glad I was the one who punched you, and not her" Jungwoo said angrily and King Nat stepped back disbelievingly.

He didn’t want to believe Jungwoo.

He didn’t want to believe that he really had a kid with Eunbi. That was so many years ago. Long before they even knew that Eunbi was a werewolf and long before the death of Nathaniel and his being turned into a vampire.

It had been a one-night thing and they certainly couldn’t have born kids right?

It had been so long.

"Impossible. You’re lying. Get the fires ready! I will burn you alive, and teach your father a lesson!" Nathaniel said angrily as the high guards walked out and he followed them, leaving behind Rania, and Jihoon, both of who were too shocked to even spell out anything.
