Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 43: She’s Crazy, But Not Mine
[DRARUN]
’Why me?’ Jihoon quietly cried out to the moon, careful not to utter the words that would rain hell on him. He looked at the man before him, the painful realization dawning on him just when he thought everything was about to be okay.
It seemed to him like the goddess was testing his patience but what if he gave in to the temptation to land a punch on this undead’s face? Would it be okay, or would he be considered a violent man?
Taking a deep yet careful breath, he composed himself before talking to the man who didn’t seem to get the hint that whoever Leder Bai was, he didn’t want an audience with Officer Kang, maybe he just needed it spelled out for him.
"As much as I would like to stay and soothe your ego, I have someone to deal with, one who is more insufferable than you. Excuse me,’’ Jihoon said as he hoped to get to Rania. The woman may have been a piece of work, but if her plan worked, they would be out of here in two days.
"Watch your back, leader Bai," Officer Kang said and Jihoon couldn’t help but roll his eyes. Of course, he knew the undead wasn’t going to give him peace. He honestly hoped they met somewhere so he would discipline his ass.
He could vent out all his anger towards Rania on the guy and there wasn’t shit that he could do, after all, in this place, it seemed like the leaders were of higher ranks than the officers of the high guard.
"You too, Kang Mo Yoo,’’ Jihoon said as he walked in the direction that the guards had taken Rania. He knew they were risking a lot by just being here in the lands of the undead, but it wasn’t like they even had an option.
The quest was already on, and if they delayed it any longer, there was a chance that more wolves would be sent, and that would just mean more deaths for the werewolves, and more losses for the werewolf kingdom.
The two stubborn alphas didn’t want that. Sure, they were crazy and unhinged, and maybe had one too many issues with their packs, but when it came to protecting their people, they were willing to lay down their lives for Obren.
As Jihoon walked along in the direction of the dungeon where the guards were taking Rania, he took that moment to take in the vampire kingdom. This palace was beautiful, way too pretty for the horrors that the young wolves were taught growing up.
It was like a little heaven for the undead. Everything was in its place, and it kinda felt like this was what their home was supposed to emulate too. Granted kingdoms were different, but this one was a different standard of beauty.
Their races may have been enemies with the undead, but Jihoon had learned to appreciate that which was good. After all, it was only fair to be appreciative. The people in Drarun looked pretty disciplined for the undead.
Over the years, Jihoon, just like every werewolf back home, thought of the undead as irrational and useless idiots, but now that he looked at them, he realized that the only thing that differentiated him from them was their race.
If they all had been from the same race, nothing would be different. Of course, the undead never had children, but it seemed like their population was growing rapidly.
It was only natural considering that they always captured the humans and turned them into vamps, so that their race couldn’t be extinct.
Maybe it was a selfish move, but the undead had to have a voice in the supernatural world, otherwise, they would just be hopeless creatures cursed with immortality and death by wooden stakes.
"Let me go!" Rania’s tussle with the guards brought Jihoon back to the land of the living, even though Drarun was technically the opposite of it all. The sly woman was telling him where she was, and he couldn’t have been more thankful.
Rania screamed and fought the guards, careful not to spook them about her superpowers considering they were just regular vampires. A werewolf alpha was always going to be stronger than the vampires, and that was common knowledge.
So if Rania had wanted to actually free herself, this undead wouldn’t have stopped her, but this wasn’t the time for her theatrics that could put her and the mission in danger. She had to be rational and as surprising as that was with her, she was trying to behave.
The more she fought the guards, the closer Jihoon got to her, and when he finally did, the poor woman was already dumped in the dungeon, next to Jungwoo. Jihoon wanted to laugh at her, but he would keep that for later, when the mission was complete.
Rania and the werewolf prince’s cells were separated by steel. Sure, they could be able to get out of here with ease, but the person on the other side of the cells didn’t seem to share that sudden determination.
Jihoon walked into the dungeons and his first thought was to internally curse this place. The stench of rotten blood was all over, and it made him nauseous. He felt like this was the den of the broken and that they needed to get out of here soonest.
He looked at Jungwoo, wondering what the undead had to have done to the man to make him that fragile. He looked so pale and his bones were out. He looked extremely thin, it was disheartening. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
He looked so different from the normal expectations that Jihoon had heard about the werewolf prince. Of course, that wasn’t a take for the common wolves, but on every alpha camp, there would be rumors about the werewolf prince, the only child of Eunbi and King Seojoon.
Every alpha was aware of that, and while none of them had dared to say it out loud they hoped that there truly was someone who could take over the throne from the king, when the time came for him to retire.
The man in question was quiet, almost like he was in his own world, and Jihoon could only hope Rania took it slow with him. Then again, knowing Rania, she would probably make the guy talk from her annoying positions.
Frankly, that was the only choice they were left with.
"Shut up and stay put," Jihoon said to Rania who just rolled her eyes at him. Turning to the guard who had been watching the prisoner, Jihoon dismissed him, a sign that Rania needed to take action.
"Fuck off," Rania said to Jihoon who just let out a frustrated sigh. He was thinking of suggesting a mental asylum for Rania, because the woman seemed to need therapy more than anyone that Jihoon had ever met.
In the past few days, he had wanted to kill her, but right now he hoped that she would do right by the prince. She was the real definition of powerful and psychotic, yet elegant and determined. How the fuck that was possible, was still beyond Park Jihoon.
