Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 245: Leaning Into The Rain
[RANIA]
Running through the rain, Kim Rania finally let the tears flow. Her tears would blend in so well with the rain and no one would be able to tell that she had me for a run in the rain because she couldn’t take the pain anymore, right?
She hadn’t been able to have an actual moment with her mate and that broke her heart. She had fought for the man, done everything that ever was and all that could be considered the highest level of insanity for the man.
She had done the impossible because of her emotions, and was even going to war to eliminate everyone who could possibly be a problem to them, yet deep down, Rania knew that Jihoon would never want her anymore.
She knew that nothing was ever going to be the same for them. She had seen a range of emotions in Jihoon’s eyes when he had been looking at her and she had been unable to read through him.
Maybe because she had been blinded by her remorse for what she had done to him, or maybe because she had been too scared to face the truth that was strong back at her.
Then again, what truth was that?
What was she so scared of when the man had ruled her life through and through? It was no secret that she had been through hell for him, but as she ran alongside her best friend on this rainy evening, Rania knew she was more than fucked.
So she ran ahead of Dalrae, using her alpha speed to leave a huge gap between her and her best friend. She ran faster and made sure that she was far too deep for even Dalrae to come and find her.
She was tired of everything and she just needed some time alone. That was all she needed, but how alone was alone when her mind was burning with questions, and concerns, and even her guilt wasn’t making her have any peace?
Rania was broken, but wasn’t that what she had always been?
’Slow down,’ a voice interrupted Rania but she ignored it and kept on running. He needed to forget even for a moment.
She needed to run and avoid everything even just for the evening.
She needed to cry enough today, so that she would not cry tomorrow and no voice would ever be able to interrupt her special mission.
’You need to slow down, Rania,’ the voice insisted but Rania refused to listen.
She wasn’t going to stop; not when she was so close to forgetting her pain. She wasn’t going to give up the rare chance to sleep without having nightmares of her being rejected by everyone over and over again.
Her nights were always plagued with her parents’ rejection, her people’s rejection, and her mate’s possible rejection.
Everywhere she went it was my just rejection. And there were nights when Rania got dreams of her best friends abandoning her because she was too much.
She was haunted by so many things and she hated it, but she never really had a chance anyway. Her life was shitty by the day.
"Dammit, slow down, before you break the barrier to pieces and leave everyone a target!!!" the voice boomed, and that got Rania’s attention. It wasn’t because of what the voice had said.
She didn’t care about that. Obren could burn for all she cared. It was the familiarity of the voice that made her stop instantly, scratching her paws and hurting herself in the process.
It was one that she did so well, a voice that had been in her life for so long.
It was the voice she would never forget, and just when she was about to turn and see the voice, she heard the trees rustling, and a wing shushed at her, making her curse shelf.
"Fuckig hell, Rania what the hell was that about? Do you want to die or what the fuck do you think you are aiming at? Why the hell would you run like that? Goodness, you will be the death of me.
"At this rate, I might even grow older and hit eighty years old because of you..." Dalrae ranted in the rain, ignoring the hits she was talking about.
She was more focused on Rania, but her sister was looking for something, someone, a voice, someone who had that voice. However, a part of her also knew that she would probably never hear the voice again.
She wanted to ask the voice questions like what the hell was even the meaning of all that? She wanted to ask the voice about everything that happened and she wanted to ask for the first time, if she would ever be okay.
The voice that had been familiar felt safe, and yet she was never going to do it again. So defeatedly, Rania turned to look at her best friend who was busy cursing her in the mind link since they were both in their wolf forms.
She wanted to smack Dalrae in the head, but she could see that Dalrae was trying to. Her sister had run a long distance and had managed to reach her.
That in itself got Rania curious because Rania could have sworn that she had followed the muddy paths and made sure to ask her.
There was just no way someone who wanted her mate could have known her scent. But then she seemed to be forgetting the history that she had with Dalrae. But was that really it?
Then again as she looked at Dalrae, Rania noticed that Lim Lim had a bleeding tail and her paws had broken toes. It wasn’t what Rania had wanted, not for her best friend. Not for the girl she loved more than her life.
She intended for Dalrae to get hurt, but goddamn, she had once again managed to hurt someone that was so important to her. Maybe she was bound to cause all her people pain, right?
"Dalrae, you’re bleeding," Rania said as she walked around Dalrae and saw that her tail had been cut into two halves, one which wasn’t even there, but Dalrae wasn’t even done with her rant.
She was so cooped up in it that Rania had to nudge her to snap out of it, before she looked at Rania with a face that said she needed to stop for a moment.
Granted, their wolves were different and they had different abilities, but theirs was a kind that had been forged long before they even knew each other, so it was easy for the both of them to understand each other. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"No shit Sherlock... Hold on what? I am bleeding?" Dalrae asked as she constantly shifted into her human form.
She hadn’t seen that her tail was cut in half and Rania was considering not telling her, given that Dalrae looked okay in her human form. A little too okay. But maybe she would tell her later when Dlarae was done picnicking, right?
"No, it was just your paws," Rania said, given her paws had been hurt too, but this time, it was Dalrae’s turn to look at her like she was insane.
If Dalrae’s paws had been bleeding, then her shift to her human form could have been painful and her fingers and toenails would have blood on them. But there was nothing there. It Was almost like Lim Dalrae had healed completely.
’You think you can get me to shut up by talking about my paws? Come here you little imp," Dalrae said to Rania who figured that she needed to find something to distract her best friend.
And there was only one thing that could distract Lim Dalrae right now. Food.
"I killed a bunny on my way here. Wanna share it? Or do we leave it and keep bickering?" Rania taunted and Dalrae looked at her like she was seriously considering her options.
"Fine, but that won’t make me shut up forever," Dalrae said and Rania just nodded in understanding.
However, as she and her best friend walked in the rain, as she thought back to the voice that had been trying to stop her from breaking the barrier—
—And as she thought of how the hell she was supposed to break the barrier of a whole kingdom when she was just a regular Incayon wolf probably rogue to the fates, Rania couldn’t help but wonder how Dalrae had healed that fast.
There was only one other person she had seen heal that fast, other than Chang Wook, Han Seong, and Kaia.
Jeon Jungwoo.
Could she...
