Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 244: A Little Too Late, No?
[RANIA]
"Are you really her mate?" Chang Wook asked Kaia, the moment Han Seong, Odelia, Jihoon, and Daehyun had made their exit.
He had so many questions and with all the secrets that were just popping up, Chang Wook wasn’t sure what to believe. He couldn’t hide the fact that he was not okay with Rania having Kaia Seto as a mate.
Kaia was unpredictable and terrible for his sister, and if Chang Wook had to bet his life on the fact that Kaia Seto didn’t really love his sister, then he would do it in a heartbeat.
"She’s mine. Now back off," Kaia said, as he let out a low growl. Han Seong wasn’t here to keep him in check, and even though there was the warning Han had given him earlier, Kaia don’t care about anything anymore.
He wanted to get this shit done and be on his way. He didn’t want to cause his brother any more pain but he was certain that that was what would happen if he stayed here and not looked at them. He ended his release.
"You little—" Chang Wook began and Rania spoke up, cutting him instantly.
"If you let him be, I’ll let you clean the shelter, sign as we still have to stay here for another week to strategize and monitor situations. Besides, I figured Paloma and the rogues might need us. Your choice, brother," Rania said to Chang Wook.
Of course, she had no idea that the Viking was really her brother but Chang Wook wasn’t going to say anything. However, Chang Wook couldn’t deny that he felt tense when Han Seong had been talking about secrets earlier. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
He had thought that Han Seong would tell Rania they were siblings and yet Han Seong didn’t do anything of the sort. Maybe even after everything, they all still cared for each other and respected each other enough to not spill the secrets of their friends.
It was reassuring in a way though, because this right here was what Miley did.
"Ye, we agree. Chang Wook won’t say anything else. Now please, can we?" Dalrae said and Kaia let out a chuckle.
It was like he was stuck between the evil side and his good side and each time Dalrae said something, Kaia Seto ended up being amused by it.
Dalrae had questions too.
She was never going to believe that Kaia Seto just decided that Rania, of all the people, could be his mate. There were so many blank spaces but that wasn’t as important as the desire for fresh air that had been high for the whole day.
It was something that she worlds even sold her hand for at the moment because it was already raining outside.
"Fine, I’ll clean it up. Chang Wook, you’ll help me with it" Kaia said, and Chang Wook almost rolled his eyes at the man. Kaia Seto could have cleansed the house on his own but he suddenly needed help.
Well, that was reasonable because Kaia had seen that Rania was worried and he didn’t want her to worry. Maybe their mate bond was a farce. Maybe this was really the real deal for the both of them, right but then they would know that later.
"Rania and I will wait for you guys. We will be on the veranda. Make sure not to burn the house. We need a shelter for the storms that have already found us, alright?" Dalrae said and the two men nodded begrudgingly.
It was quite a hilarious sight, but that didn’t change the tension that had begun looming between them.
It wasn’t right in any way, but wherever secrets were involved peace was sometimes the greatest price anyone would ever pay. It was never going to be easy but when had life ever been easy?
Dalrae grabbed Rania’s hand and walked her through the doors of the stinky house, finally letting them breathe some fresh air. She loved the peace and tranquility that was in the air though even she couldn’t believe that this was happening.
But maybe with the boys distracted, she would be able to tell what the fuck was happening with her sister, right?
"Hey, are you okay?" Dalrae asked and Rania just looked at her like this was the most incredulous thing that Dalrae had ever suggested. How the hell was she even supposed to respond to that?
There was so much happening with them and the world they had created was slowly burning, but it didn’t seem to be burning to the pace that Rania wanted. It was making her feel like she should have done more to stir the chaos.
But then Rania couldn’t hide the guilt she was feeling for what she had done. That was the downside of everything she did. Her humanity was bound to haunt her eventually and in the past five days, it had been bothering her.
If she didn’t have a team that was determined to scour through the realm and burn it for her, Raia could have long given up.
She just didn’t have the strength to see people suffering even though they had made her suffer for years. Maybe there was a way she could get over all of this, right?
"Of course I am. Why shouldn’t I be okay? Everything is going according to plan and what’s more, Han went back home. Now that we know he has the same powers as Kai, at least we are sure that Incayon will be safe.
"And Odelia is there too to make sure that Jihoon and Daehyun won’t try anything. Now I just have to deal with the vampire king and force Yanna out of hiding and everything will be fine.
"Oh, and I still have to put a knife through King Seojoon’s heart and then I will call it even with him. What could be more thrilling than all that, right?" Rania replied a little too cheerfully and Dalrae felt terrible for the girl before her she could see the cracks showing, she could see the pain resurfacing.
She could see her sister’s world burning while she buried everything up. Rania always had a good heart and now she was wondering if that was all worth it.
She didn’t care that she had been triggered or that she was out for her vengeance, but in the few instances that she reconnected with her humanity, Rania felt like she could have done things differently.
However, she also knew that she had done so much already and if she didn’t see this through, then she would have failed in her mission. She had to make sure that everyone that hurt her got justice.
She had to make sure they felt her wrath even if that was the first time they would be watching all hell burn up.
"Rani—" Dalrae began, but Rania just shushed her in the politest way she could muster.
"We can’t keep pining over what has happened, Lim Lim. We need to look forward to the future, a future with a wolf of peace, a world that is cleansed of all the evil in it.
"Come, let’s go for a run. It feels like years since I let my wolf out,’’ Rania said and Dalrae just sighed.
Of course, she had expected this.
"Sure, let’s go shall we?" Dalrae said before shifting and going for a run in the rain that was hitting so hard.
