Chapter 210: He Was Still The Alpha

[JIHOON]

"Damn, isn’t Calindra a beauty?" Yanna said when they finally made their way back to the assembly hall.

She didn’t care that there were so many things that weren’t on her side. This time she was choosing to be positive and no matter what happened she would stay so, right?

At the assembly hall, the people of Calindra were patiently seated. They were still hurting and hadn’t even had the time to grieve their losses. It was heartbreaking but what else was there for them to do anyway?

It wasn’t like life was giving them that many choices.

Once again, Jihoon looked at his people and silently prayed to the goddess for strength to deal with Yanna because he would need a lot of it, seriously. It didn’t matter that hell was here.

He just wished he had the strength to explain and justify everything that was happening right now.

"Hello, Calindra. We are here because of a very important announcement. An announcement that will help us in the war against Incayon should they come to fight us.

"I had listened to all the complaints and monitored the mind links, and I’m confident that we all want the same thing. The best for Calindra. I love our home and will always love our home.

"Which is why starting today, here and now, I Park Jihoon, the reigning alpha of Calindra, take a health leave from work, and leave all the pack responsibilities to my parents," Jihoon said, shocking everyone, including his parents who had been seated there waiting for their son to make a decision.

They had been so sure that their son would take Yanna back as their Luna but as it was, it seemed like the alpha had made a different decision altogether. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Jihoon could hear the whispers of shock in the crowd. He could see the women stare at him like he had just started his speech, and he had.

He wasn’t done, but what if he was?

Jihoon knew what his people were hoping for, and maybe that was also why he raised his hand as if to tell them that he wasn’t even done yet. And once again the pack members remained silent.

They were waiting to hear what their alpha would say and even Yanna who had been staying in shock was suddenly hopeful. But was it a smart idea for her of all the people to have hope when the situation was this dire?

Was she to get comfortable and trust the man who had made it clear more than one that he hated her with all that he had and didn’t have?

Maybe Yanna was stupid or maybe she was counting on the fact that Park Jihoon loved his people so much that he would do whatever they wanted, right?

But then had Calindra become the second strongest pack by giving in to external pressure from people?

Had they gotten to this point just because it was possible and they could do it without a second thought?

"You all know how a health leave works. For those who don’t, it means that even though I will not be sitting in the alpha seat for a while, my parents will have to consult with me before they make any decision with regard to the pack.

"They will have to notify me of what is happening and I will engage them once in a while. My health leave is indefinite as of now. So let it be known that no matter what happens, by the laws of Calindra, they can’t do anything that would impact our home greatly.

"Thank you father and mother for accepting the role even though you retired a few years ago," Jihoon said to his parents and they just nodded in understanding.

Of course, they knew their son and they knew why he had to pull the health leave card. They just hoped that he would be okay with whatever decision he was making right now.

It wasn’t going to be easy and there would be challenges, but at least this time he was going to be in the direct line of fire.

"Now onto the announcement we have all been waiting for. As much as we need her help, Miss Yanna Petrova is a prisoner of Calindra. She stands accused of treason and the punishment for treason is death.

"Her crimes include manipulating the mate bonds and forcing wolves to do her bidding. The hybrids you see are her prisoners, something that I got to learn because some were open to fighting with us if we freed them from her.

"She has done so much that even death would be too easy a punishment for her. However, as I’m on health leave, she will remain a prisoner of Calindra until I feel better and my health improves enough to make the decision.

"So yes, the hybrids will fight for Calindra, but they will fight as our people and not as people of Yanna Petrova.

"That said, Calindra is always going to be ready to defend ourselves, so do not worry about anything," Jihoon said and for a moment, Yanna looked at the man before her, then to the hybrids she had worked with over the years.

She then looked at the people of Calindra before looking at alpha Park Taeho and his wife, Yoona, the former alpha who had just been reinstated and she knew she was fucked in all seven ways to hell.

All the wolves in Calindra knew about the former alpha and Luna’s rule and they had known how no-nonsense it was. It was the kind of reign that would ruin so many, and one that people had strived to never make an enemy out of.

Over the past few years, while people came to Calindra and tried to see the beauty of their land, they remained wary of the former alpha Taeho and his luna because those two were easily the reason that Calindra had gotten its reputation.

Their son had just picked up where they had left and that explained the shock and relief on the faces of the werewolves of Calindra, not to mention Lee Daehyun who was so close to kissing his best friend right now.

Oh, he had made the decision that no one in the fix he was in, could have made that easily. He surely was the product of the Parks.

"No. This is impossible. You can’t do this to me. You all can’t betray me like this. You can’t let me be a prisoner of your parents, please, Jihoon. I will stop. I won’t do anything, I will leave her be. I don’t want her dead again.

"I’m so sorry. Fuck it dude, I repent, okay? What else do you want me to say? That I won’t attack her? Fine, I won’t, she’s stronger than me anyways. I won’t attack your rightful luna dammit.

"Please Just let me be, please," Yanna cried out in frustration but Jihoon just smirked at her, before he pointed at the crowd that had heard her voice and everything she had said.

The fear of the Parks had been the beginning of the Pertova girl’s downfall.

Oh, but the Parks were scary, but not more than the wolves that were looking at Yanna like she had a lot to explain.

"You wanted the attention of Calindra? Now you have it. Have fun explaining to them what the fuck you mean by their rightful luna," Jihoon said before he walked to have a seat next to his beta and his parents.
