Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 209: The Damaged laws of Attraction
[JIHOON]
As he lingered in the woods, Park Jihon knew that there was only so much he could do at the moment. He knew that his people were pushing his hand, but what if he made a different choice?
He had watched from a distance as his mate went through the different versions of hell. He had seen her get hurt and go through so much that he himself had wondered if there was anything that he could do to stop this.
He had been thinking a lot and there was only one solution in his head. Maybe he was crazy for what he was about to do, but he wasn’t about to betray the woman he was meant for, even before he had known her well.
She deserved much better than what he had given her and if he had to choose between his Luna and his people, Jihoon knew he didn’t have much of a choice.
He loved his people. He wanted to listen to them, but he also loved Kim Rania.
He wanted to be by her side so much he couldn’t think straight.
’It’s crazy, but what choice do I have?’ Jihoon said to himself when he had made up his mind. He knew that everyone would hate him including Kim Rania.
If anything she would probably get the worst of assassins to come and take a hit on him, but he didn’t mind, not this time. He had watched her suffer enough and this time, he wasn’t going to let her go through the same pain again.
Defeatedly, the Calindra alpha made his way back home. His wolf had sadly healed all his wounds and he was as good as new, even though he was in his beastly form.
He didn’t mind because there was no exception between what was on his mind and what he truly was.
A beast in every sense.
None of this would ever make sense but he hoped that Kim Rania would someday forgive him for what was happening. He hoped that maybe someday she would find it in her heart to think of him differently.
But how was that supposed to even work when the only thing that was on his mind at the moment was that he had to betray someone today, and chances were that he would betray the one he had betrayed unknowingly before?
The only sad thing was that he would have to betray her again.
Oh, Rani.
"Are you sure you want to do this? I know I told you to listen to the people, but we are making a terrible decision by giving her the power she wants to bring down our rightful Luna. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"What are we even supposed to do when that day comes when Rani comes for us?" Daehyun asked, the worry in his voice so evident as he looked at his distraught brother.
There were options for them. But with Incayon coming after Calindra in literal days, there wasn’t much that Jihoon could do.
Calindra needed additional defense and Yanna had the defense they needed. If that was how this shit was to end, then he was going to choose what was best for his people, right? If only it was that easy.
"Yes, I am sure. You know we are going to be fighting with Incayon in a few days. We can’t win with the remaining warriors we have. And besides, you heard the people.
"They prefer dining with the known devil if it means dealing with the one who would crush us if they find us weak. Come on, let’s go. Everything is set," Jihoon said and Daehyun looked at his brother, wondering if this really was what Jihoon had wanted.
He had watched his brother marvel at old memories of him and Rania. He had seen his brother get so attached to that which was meant to be, and yet now here they were, throwing away the opportunity for their home to really be whole again.
They were left without a choice in a palace where choices were supposed to make things better. This was the cruelest thing the universe had ever done to Rania and Jihoon, but was it?
"Fine. I just hope you won’t regret it later," Daehyun said, even though he knew that they would definitely be having a lot of drinks to regret the decision that Jihoon had made.
Maybe if that happened, they would forget the miserable state that they were in and forget the pain that was hovering over them for so long.
Maybe then they would heal, but since when had anyone ever healed by reopening wounds that hadn’t even closed yet?
"Cheer up, Daehyun. This is for the people of Calindra. It’s not even about what I want anymore. You heard your people.
"I have the army, so think of this as an alliance, something that is necessary for the pack to survive, especially now that Incayon is out to get everyone who looks at them differently.
"So relax, alright?" Yanna suddenly said, making Jihoon look at her like this woman was the worst thing that could have happened to him.
Between Yanna and Rania, Jihoon finally understood why Rania wanted Yanna dead, and honestly, he would have gone to help her, but then he had people to think about.
"Whatever. Let’s get out of here, shall we? Besides, since you’re the main event, why don’t you come along? We wouldn’t want the people to think I changed my mind.
"You already know by now that I won’t tell them that Rani is the rightful Luna for the Calindra throne, no?" Jihoon said and Yanna just smirked knowingly at the men before her.
They were at a corner and she wanted to feel bad for them, and she did. But it was only because they were caught in the middle of her war with Rania. She wanted to see Rania on her knees, begging for mercy.
She was determined to get it, and what better way to prove to Rania that she couldn’t have everything by forcing Jihoon to marry her without the use of magic?
Of course, the wolves were all about what was good for them, but even Yanna could see that they were glad she was back.
If anything, the Yanna that Calindra knew was different from the dumb-ass psycho bitch who was out to ruin everyone’s happiness just because he wouldn’t get powerful enough to make things right.
"I knew you were smart, Jihoon. Let’s go give the people a show, right?" Yanna said happily as she made her way out first. She had worn a long white dress, one so similar to the one she had been wearing when she had been crowned the Calindra Luna seven years ago.
Sure, Jihoon had burned down everything that had Yanna written all over it, but Yanna didn’t mind. All she wanted was the power to make Rania beg, and taking over as Calindra Luna was a step in her desired direction.
She didn’t care that the skies had turned black outside or even that the moon isn’t showing this time around. She didn’t care that the drizzles had already started making a show and that the skies were mourning, robbery for Kim Rania, no.
She cared about herself.
And her great desire to have that which could aid her.
"Damn, isn’t Calindra a beauty?" Yanna said when they finally made their way back to the assembly hall.
