Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 208: The Hardest of An Alpha’s Choices
[JIHOON]
"Fine, I’ll free her, but I have conditions," Jihoon had said and his people cheered on.
They didn’t even let him finish because they accepted his conditions no matter what the conditions were. They were probably signing up for slavery from Jihoon but they didn’t mind. And so Jihoon ordered the warriors to get the mad woman from the dungeons.
She had been there for just two days and yet the demand for her release had been amplified by the massacre of the werewolves that had happened between Incayon and the Obren palace.
It was something that was frowned upon and while this may have been an emotional decision that they would regret later, the wolves knew that this was their only chance. It was useless having the strongest warriors they could have in the dungeons.
"Here she is," Jihoon said and the wolves cheered on even louder. They were fueled by anger and a desire for vengeance that they couldn’t get if they weren’t strong enough.
Calindra was a shit hole and no matter what happened, they had to make the decision to keep the peace. But where was that peace to be kept? Where was the one thing they desired to match when they needed it?
"Hello Calindra," Yanna greeted softly like the luna they had known her to be. The Calindra wolves didn’t know that Yanna had been and was a psycho. They didn’t know that she had messed up the mate bond in the first place.
They didn’t know that this woman was an agent of the devil; the only thing they knew was that she was their Luna and that she was on their side. Oh, the fragile hearts that were about to be broken sooner or later.
"I’m sorry I got the hybrids to come with me. They were only fighting you guys for my release. I have been away from home for so long that I never expected I would come home to my mate hating me.
"I don’t know what he has told you, but I can promise, I only came back for him. I loved him so much but it seems like it wasn’t reciprocated. If you let me, I will join him in making Calindra safe. Once again, my apologies for the chaos my hybrids have brought.
"They just wanted to free me from the dungeons. They didn’t mean to be that cruel. I apologize on their behalf," Yanna said softly, her voice so soothing that if Jihoon didn’t know any better, even he could have believed Yanna was fighting for the betterment of Calindra.
He would have trusted her again, but she wasn’t worth his trust and she had proven it time and again.
"We appreciate your efforts. We shall discuss the way forward with your army and ours. But for now, you need to clean up and get ready for the bonding ceremony. We need to make sure the people trust in our bond," Jihoon said and Daehyun’s jaw fell on the floor of the podium.
This man couldn’t be serious, now was he?
It was one thing to deal with Yanna and to accept her because of her army, but reviving the mating accords was something else. He would be going against everything that the mate bond stood for and he would be forsaking his mate a second time.
This was cruel, no this was inhumane.
What Jihoon was doing at the moment was in reality the worst thing that could ever be done to any mate and yet he was determined to see it through.
Oh, it was unsettling on so many scores and Daehyun wondered if it was her magic again. However, he knew that there was no magic here. There was no strange thing at play; just Park Jihoon being a moron again.
"What?" Daehyun and Yanna asked at the same time.
Yanna didn’t believe it because of her current predicament and the fact that she knew the man hated him more than love and life. She knew Jihoon could easily run her over and there wasn’t a soul that could help her.
She knew this man hated her so much the world could be dark and haunted and he would still give her up as a sacrifice. He hated her, she knew it, which was why even she was shocked. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Daehyun on the other hand spoke because that was the only coherent sentence he could form at the moment. Whatever his brother was doing was insane. This wasn’t acceptable and the sooner they faced that truth the sooner they would find a way around it.
But what other ways were there? He had just given the werewolves hope in front of everyone. It wasn’t like there was something else that they could do.
The world wasn’t going to be all bursts of sunshine and moonflowers for a really long time and Daehyun knew he needed to prepare himself psychologically for that too. Goddamn, this was hard as hell. What the fuck was he even supposed to make of this?
How the hell was he supposed to accept Yanna Petrova as their Luna and even have to call her Luna Yanna Park? What about everything Jihoon had done to rid himself of her?
Where the fuck would Yanna be living and what in all hell had taken over Jihoon’s body to make him suggest such an absurdity?
"We will reinstate the Calindra Luna today and in two hours. Everyone, be at your best and prepare for the ceremony! Release the hybrids and allow them to join us. After all, we will be a team and work towards the same goal.
"To make Calindra peaceful, no matter who we have to work with!" Jihoon said, ignoring the sound of this heart breaking a thousandfold. He hated this situation and he hated what his people were making him do.
He had never imagined that there would come a day when he would have to make the hard decisions, but here he was and he despised it.
All he had wanted was to be free and yet Obren was taking that from him. The wars were ruining his life and more than anything, fate was letting Yanna hurt him and his mate again. What kind of stupid-ass fate was this?
"Everyone, see you in two hours!! Dismissed!" the Calindra alpha said cheerily, before he shifted into his wolf and made a run for the woods.
He needed to forget for a moment.
And so he ran, and ran. He didn’t stop even when he felt his paws bleeding. He ran in the hope that the wind would be kinder to him. He ran in the hope that he would be able to forget what he was going through, but if only that worked.
For an hour, the big bad alpha of Calindra tried to forget the fact that he was once again abandoning the woman he loved, the woman he was mated to, for a woman who didn’t mean shit to him.
He hated this situation and frankly, if he had to make a choice between his people and Rania, he would have.
Oh but if only the kingdom wasn’t in so much chaos. If only there wasn’t so much triggered by Kim Rania, but what were the chances that he could still find his woman and save her from them, right?
’I’m so sorry, Rani. I’m sorry I am a coward till the end. I hope someday you forgive me.’
