Chapter 207: The Cries of A Broken People

[JIHOON]

The assembly hall was filled with Calindra wolves, most of whom were grieving the loss of their brothers, sons, and husbands.

The wolves were sad and angry with everything that happened, but nothing could beat their anger for Kim Rania.

That woman had taken so much from them in different ways and if their alpha wasn’t going to give them a solution on how to deal with Kim Rania, then they would go to war with the alpha and find someone who would lead them to war against Kim Rania.

"Hello, Calindra. There is nothing good about today and I won’t pretend that it is good. I am here because of Yanna and the attacks that she instigated today. The hybrids were all her doing, and I am proud of how we managed to apprehend them and stop them just in time.

"I know it hasn’t been easy given the brothers we lost out there yesterday. And for that, I am terribly sorry about it. I know my apologies will not be of any help, but we are doing everything we can, to find a way to apprehend Kim Rania too.

"Someone had to pay for the loss of lives right now," Jihoon said and his people straight up booed him.

This was the one thing that had never happened and while Jihoon knew it wasn’t because they didn’t respect him, he couldn’t hide the fact that he was shocked that this even happened. He had never expected this and now he was being booed by his own people?

Wow, so much had really changed for them.

"We want Kim Rania dead and if Yanna and her hybrids are our best shot at justice, then so be it!!" one woman said and Daehyun looked at her. He knew her and even as she spoke and threw tantrums, Daehyun felt her pain to the core.

So he told his brother of the truth of the woman who was hurting the most there. She had met her husband, and two sons went to the king because they were the best in the realm and they hadn’t come back thanks to Kim Rania.

That was something that even he couldn’t understand.

The woman’s pain was unimaginable and as she continued screaming for Yanna to come forward and help them, the crowd joined her. They had all lost people and Jihoon’s assurance wasn’t doing them any good.

Calindra needed to be strong. They needed to have a reason to keep moving and with their warriors dead in the massacre by Kaia, it was hard trying to convince the warriors to get up and join the bandwagon to fight for Calindra again.

"That is something I must consult and think about very carefully. This is a woman who had lied to us and forced us to punish someone who was innocent—" Jihoo tried but they were having none of it.

"Our children were innocent too, and yet you sent them to their deaths. Or do you value Kim Rania’s life more than those of our children? Would your mother feel the same way if you die? Would you feel the same way if you lost your brother to an unfair war?

"Or even your father?" another woman shouted and the crowd kept cheering on. Jihoon could feel their anger and the pressure on him was mounting by the second. He couldn’t believe that there was something that the people hated more than Yanna and her lies.

And honestly, he understood them.

Daehyun was right, this wasn’t the time for them to start introducing Kim Rania as the pack luna. They would have to settle the anger that the people had.

"Yanna is dangerous. She is manipulative—"

"We want Luna Yanna!"

"We want Luna Yanna!"

"We want Luna Yanna!"

Jihoon was flabbergasted to say the least. Of the things he had expected, it was safe to say that this wasn’t it. He hadn’t expected that his people would want their Luna back.

Of course, they didn’t know that she wasn’t their luna, but with everything that was happening, Jihoon could tell that a rebellion was coming he could either partner with Yanna or make things worse in the pack.

He wasn’t sure what he could do, so he turned to his best friend for support.

"Release Luna Yanna!"

"Release Luna Yanna!"

"Release Luna Yanna!"

The chants were growing aggressive and Jihoon stood there in silence, watching as the people looked at him with anger.

They knew that it wasn’t directed towards him, but he could tell that the tides would shift so fast if he couldn’t take care of this and soo. He was in trouble and he knew it too. Was there a way out of this?

"What do I do?" Jihoon asked his brother and he just pointed to the people.

"Listen to them. They are right, we have all lost so many friends today because of Rania and if we don’t give them someone to blame, they will blame you and we both know how that will end for you. They are justified.

"Their cries make sense. This time, you need to think as an alpha, Jihoon. You need to think as a leader who has people depending on you. We all are, no matter what the circumstances are.

"I will always be on your side, but brother, think of the people," Daehyun said as they looked at the chanting wolves.

They surely had had enough of Kim Rania and her being a nuisance to them.

Surely Kim Rania hadn’t killed any people but the fact that most of the packs were eventually angry with her could explain that there was much they needed to reconsider before they faced their reality at the moment.

Maybe it was time for Jihoon to be the alpha like his friend was suggesting.

Looking at his parents sitting beside him, Jihoon wondered if there was anything that they could tell the people. Affection was new to Jihoon, especially after he had made a fool of himself and managed to get his mate banished.

He had been lonely for months, and yet it seemed that it would be so for several days. Even then, he had the choice. To listen or not to, and if he didn’t, had to be ready for the hell that would be coming for them regardless.

"Fine, I’ll free her, but I have conditions."
