Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 206: You What Now?
[RANIA]
"Good evening to you five. Don’t you have other people to bother?" Kaia asked and Han Seong just ignored him, before he walked over to where Kaia was, and grabbed Rani off of his lap.
They really were not buying this reformed Kaia and they were right not to, because they heard of what Kaia had done to the vampires and it really didn’t match what they had seen in the morning or even the one they were seeing here.
"You killed sixty vampires in cold blood," Han Seong pointed out accusingly and Kaia stared at him like that wasn’t news and it wasn’t even reason enough for Han to take away the woman he was holding onto.
"And you are constantly a menace. Don’t you have a woman to bother? Samar, perhaps? Or was she Milla?
"Oh, I have lost count of the women you have been with over the years, but surely that doesn’t give you the right to take mine from me, no?" Kaia said amusedly and Han stared at him like there was a lot of explanation to be made.
But would Kaia really give in to this?
"I thought we all agreed to be civil with each other?" Dalrae asked as she pulled Rania towards her. She had sensed the tension between Han Seong and Kaia Seto from the very first day and she was tempted to think that they just hated each other because they could.
They were both powerful creatures and Kaia had celery no doubt harmed a few warlocks from the valley of the whites. That was the only probable explanation for the tension between the two, really.
"He started it. I was here being calm with my mate and he seemed to be popping up like an unwanted guest," Kaia said and Han Seong growled in warning as Kaia lifted his hands in mock surrender.
"Oops?" Kaia said mischievously when he saw Han’s eyes widen at his growl.
Han Seong’s growl wasn’t normal because warlocks didn’t know how to growl. Warlocks weren’t beasts and warlocks certainly didn’t have the ability to get easily irked. His growling was just out of this world.
"Did you just growl?" Chang Wook asked curiously.
"It was magic, wasn’t it?" Kaia said, again, though this time it seemed like he was saving Han from more questions. He had the tendency of saving people from situations that would raise more questions, and that in itself raised even more questions.
It was hard to tell what Kaia wanted and what he needed and at the same time, he had managed to be unpredictable as fuck. It was almost like he was enjoying this little game that he was playing.
If they weren’t careful they would be playing the long game of cards with Kaia and they wouldn’t be able to do shit about it.
"Yes. The magic,’’ Han Seong said stiffly and his friends just nodded before they turned their attention back to the man in question.
"So, Kaia. Tell us something about you. Surely we need to have things to tell our people when we walk out there, right? Of course thanks to you, the wolves think that we are stalkers," Dalrae said and Kaia raised a brow as if to ask them if they weren’t stalkers at this point.
He was about to defend that statement, but Dalrae beat him to it.
"Since you want us to work together, the least you and Rania could do is tell us something about you. Something that no one knows," Dalrae said and they all got comfortable, though they didn’t let Rania go back to sitting with Kaia.
Instead, since they were at the alpha’s office, they had sat down on the couches in there like they were ready for a storytime. But would Kaia really indulge them?
"I am Rania’s mate," Kaia said, like he hadn’t been insisting on it a little too suspiciously.
It was almost like he wanted to believe it, but then was it even possible when he himself was not doing any better than what he was showing?
Maybe there was more to him? But wasn’t there always something in someone that they didn’t let the world know? 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"We already know that and made peace with it. We won’t fight you for her, but just know that she is always going to belong with us," Paloma said and the misfits nodded, making Kaia chuckle. It wasn’t a dark chuckle, no.
It was an amused chuckle, something that friends did, but then were they really friends with Kaia Seto? Just because he was their ally in the current situation, did that mean that they were always going to be on the same side?
"What do you want to know about me that isn’t already out there? I am a barbarian, a monster, I love killing, and I enjoy ruining people’s lives. What else do you want to know?
"Oh and I have all the abilities of the creatures in the realm, making me impossible to kill, just in case you guys are having ideas," Kaia said amusedly and the misfits looked at each other before turning to Kaia like that was an accusation that they hadn’t even thought of.
Surely they wouldn’t try to kill him, right?
"We love you here with us."
"We wouldn’t dream of killing you."
"We adore you so much."
"We want you here with us, forever."
"Okay, forever is reaching, but we adore you and love you here."
"Gosh, you’re terrible liars. Is this how you lie to each other about things?" Kaia asked, even though he knew that they had never lied to each other.
For a team that belonged to different factions and were trained differently, they had been stable through and through, lived through the worst with each other and even then they had nevermind or betrayed each other.
Kaia knew that and they knew that too, so this was just his lame attempt at avoiding the question.
"You can even say we kill mosquitoes for dinner, but you’re not getting away with this. Think of it as a bonding session. The misfits bonding session, or the elite bonding session. But only because we are the elites," Oshita said, and they all burst out into laughter.
What the hell did he even mean by mosquitoes for dinner or even the pathetic attempt at explaining things?
Oh, but Oshita was hopeless.
"So tell us something that we don’t know, Kaia Seto. Something so exciting that you haven’t ever shared with anyone ever," Paloma said and Chang Wook and Han shared a look that said they would definitely be here for a really long time.
"I love mosquitoes, and Rania too," Kaia said and they stared at him blankly.
"Fine, I’ll tell you one truth, but if Oshita and Dalrae arm-wrestle," Kaia said, and instead of the misfits looking surprised, they cheered on.
Hell, even Rania was up for this, as she rushed to clear her table of the endless pending reports and made space for the duo to play.
"I have a broken arm," Oshita said.
"I still haven’t healed from yesterday’s fight. But by tomorrow, I’ll be fine... And don’t think of healing me or I’ll kick your ass, Kaia Seto," Dalrae added.
"You guys are no fun,’’ Kaia said before a long silence that ended with the words that they never thought they would ever hear from him.
"I have a brother, a younger brother."
