Chapter 205: Her Terms, His Conditions

[RANIA]

"You’ve been silent for a while now. Is anything the matter?" Rania asked as she looked at the impossibly handsome man before her.

He looked so fine it was a pain to the eyes and yet seeing him this silent was another to Rania. She had known him for a good while and she knew that his silence meant a lot of things and none of them were good. But maybe it was different today, right?

"I don’t want to screw up. I made a commitment and I don’t want to be careless with everything. I’ve seen how they look at you, how you mean so much to them, and while that means nothing to me, I don’t want them to change the way they look at you.

"I don’t want them to go back to being cruel to you, because I wouldn’t know what I’d do... Or maybe I know and I really don’t want to explore that.

"I promised I’d be good during this time, but damn, the patience is really something that I’m not used to," Kaia said as he looked softly at Rania, something that would get the misfits flipping and swearing the planets had gotten a new sun or something, but then this was Kim Rania.

"You don’t have to change for me, Kai. You don’t have to do anything you are uncomfortable with. I know that is even hard, given the whole thing is uncomfortable for you.

"I just don’t want you to think that this is the only way out. If we have to resolve to violence, I will be right there beside you, you don’t have to worry about going at it alone, Kai," Rania said, looking into the cold beautiful grey eyes that no one had ever dared to look into.

Hell, no one knew Kaia had grey eyes, and yet Rania was here exploring the forbidden.

She had trusted him, something that had come so naturally that if she didn’t know any better, she would have been sure that this was really meant to be from the very beginning. And maybe it was, right?

"I went to Nathaniel in disguise and he is relaxed. Though I did hear many talk about an upcoming meeting between Nathaniel and Seojoon. I don’t know what it was about, but I know it’s not anything good.

"The vampires and the werewolf kind are allying which is something that shouldn’t have happened ever. That idea itself is absurd and it makes me wonder what they’re up to this time," Kaia said and Rania just shrugged at him, like she already knew what that was all about.

The only reason two enemies would come together was if they had a common enemy and right now, the only person that could bring both the vampire king and the werewolf king together, was Kim Rania.

The woman was crazy powerful, dn she had managed to do the impossible. Maybe she should have applied to be the peace master because at this rate, she was reconciling even those that she never thought would ever reconcile.

"It’s because of me. King Seojoon wants me dead for the murder of his warriors and Nathaniel wants me dead for the murder of his daughter. I think they are not even aware that Yanna is alive—" Rania began and Kaia interrupted slowly.

"Then maybe we should tell the realm that she is alive. It would make this all so easy," Kaia said and Rania laughed at him.

"Who are you and what have you done to Kaia Seto?" Rania teased as she heard Kaia think of peace. It was one of the most absurd things and if anyone heard him, they would have assumed that Kaia was mocking them but was he?

The man was just trying to make sense of everything and coming with Rania had included him in a word of rules.

A world where people were not to be killed just because he felt like it.

A world where food didn’t mean humans and werewolves, but animals that were captured in the hunt, and prepared in the pack kitchens, a world in which the hunt meant going to the woods and looking for bunnies, but not eating them alive before they were cooked.

It was a world that was so new that Rania wondered whether Kaia would hold on or she would call this mate bond quits.

"Well you may have missed a few Chapters, but I did get a mate along the way. I never wanted one, but look at me. I’m thankful my mate doesn’t have a problem with spilling the blood of her enemies, that is something I will certainly enjoy.

"I will make them never talk shit about you ever again," Kaia said with conviction as he pulled Rania onto his lap. It was strange, given they were alone in the alpha’s office, and there were no eyes on them.

Affection was something that they both were not used to and the fact that Kaia was starting this, was a few levels unhinged. But wasn’t that what they both were anyway? Wasn’t that why they had been?

"Well, in that case, you have to listen to this mate and know that she wouldn’t want you overthinking too much. So much could go wrong out there if we follow the rules of engagement but we still have to follow the rules, Kai.

"Children and women are to be left untouched, that is non-negotiable, Kai," Rania reminded as she leaned into his arms that were open and waiting for him to just let herself be. She looked so comfortable with Kaia and she felt like this was home for her.

However, there were other factors that would determine if Kaia Seto was home enough for the psych of Obren. Then again, that didn’t seem to matter to the both of them, because they had made a decision and they were going to go through with it.

"Yes ma’am," Kaia responded, as he kissed Rania’s cheek, only for the door to open once again, revealing the five idiots of Incayon.

They were never going to let this be, no?
