Chapter 202: The Lone Defenses

[JIHOON]

"Then you have to be the most naive person in this realm. I am in the dungeons and even I know that all the warriors who were sent to Incayon to fight and get Rania back, are all dead. All of them. And you wanna know who killed them?

"Surely you shouldn’t be that stupid, right?" Yanna taunted, but Jihoon wasn’t buying her bullshit. If anything, Yanna Petrova was determined to make his life difficult just because she could and he wasn’t about to let her, right?

He wasn’t about to give in to the threats of a woman who didn’t know anything about love and loyalty, a woman who had nothing to lose and a woman who had been so selfish. But what if this woman was telling the truth?

"Rania has no qualms with the warriors. She wouldn’t kill then," Jihoon argued, like he was holding on to a dysfunctional truth.

It was not fair in any way, but he also knew that life and love wouldn’t have come at him so hard if that wasn’t true. But what was he supposed to do?

He was a man with his people. He was someone who had to try and figure out most of the things on his own. Now he had a psycho hybrid in his dungeons talking shit to him.

"You talk like you have known her for years, when she wants to put an end to your miserable life. It must be interesting, always being this stupid, no?" Yanna said, not holding back. She couldn’t take this version of Jihoon anymore.

Maybe because she was hoping to get back the man who was always fueled by his anger towards Rania. But then fate was slowly unblocking everything Yanna had blocked and the alpha was slowly getting his eyes opened. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

It wasn’t in the most ideal of ways, and it wasn’t as fast as anyone would have wished, but it was happening.

"Talk to me like that and I’ll have your tongue," Jihoon warned but Yanna wasn’t even taking him seriously, which was an unfortunate set of occurrences. She was getting comfortable; way too comfortable and that was supposed to be the first red flags, but maybe Jihoon was color blind?

"Calindra is mine, Jhoon. You can either defend it, or be against it. But I tell you this early, you stand no chance. If you think I’m joking, then take a step outside and see for yourself.

"Your people are on their knees," Yanna said and Jihoon laughed at the absurdity of the statement. If he didn’t know any better he could have bought into the bullshit. There was no way Calindra, the second strongest pack in the realm, would be on its knees.

It was just impossible on so many levels. His warriors were the best after Rania’s warriors. He had a team that could fight even with broken bones, so this wasn’t even funny anymore. But what if Yanna Petrova was not lying?

If anything, Yanna’s reappearance was something that they hadn’t expected. She had been too submissive for a dominant woman who had been known to be ruthless and cruel in the past few years. but then that was also a side of her that Park Jihoon didn’t know about.

"Sure, just laugh, for it will be your last laugh for a long while," Yanna said right as Daehyun rushed to the dungeons. The poor beta looked like he had been to hell and back, and like he had seen shit that he shouldn’t have seen in this lifetime.

Maybe he was hallucinating, but the beta was covered in dew and he looked like he had been spending the whole morning running. He looked unsettled and frustrated, not to mention shocked from what he had seen in the past few days.

He had watched the world come together for a psycho and now he had seen even worse. It all just didn’t make any sense to him, but what was there to be made sense of?

Calindra was home, Incyain had made their choice, and it was going to be important that Park Jihoon made his choice too. There wasn’t much to think of from that perspective. Absolutely nothing, right?

"We’re under attack, Jihoon. What the hell is going on? I just came back from Incayon and there’s some crazy shit over there. Also, someone murdered the warriors; all of them. The misfits didn’t kill the warriors, I was there and saw it all.

"Someone else killed the warriors. Someone so powerful," Daehyun let out, all in a rush that for a moment his words weren’t making any sense. Yanna on the other hand was smirking at the two brothers who had clearly started seeing their own versions of hell.

There was more to come for them, more from where their pain had steered from, and as they were occupied, Yanna was watching gleefully like the mad witch who was seeing her spells work on the right people.

But then it wouldn’t be Yanna who had summoned Kaia on the other end, right?

It couldn’t be Yanna who had found a way to make everyone believe that Kaia was different, right? But what if it was her who had managed to concoct some magic or even a deal with Kaia so he could pretend with Rania?

But then again, if Yanna knew Kaia, she would have been braver, and more defiant because everyone knew Kaia didn’t need anyone’s permission to do anything.

If Kaia was on Yanna’s side, then he wouldn’t have been that patient and understanding. He couldn’t have stooped to live with the Incayon wolves especially since he had always been a loner for most of his life.

Oh but there were so many theories right now that were making the werewolf kingdom unstable and slowly it was getting scary to even be in Obren at the moment.

"Slow down. What the hell are you talking about?" Jihoon said in the hope that it wasn’t all so real. But the chain had started and it was just a matter of time before chaos hit the realm at full throttle.

War was here and Calindra could either fight with the winning team, or be the first to be crushed. But was Yanna Petrova on that winning team? Was she that person who could help Calindra? Was she really?

"The hybrids are taking up camp in Calindra right now. There are a bunch of rogue vampires too. Calindra is losing.

"Our warriors are trying to fight back, but with the mind links of the other warriors having been cut, the warriors are demoralized as fuck," Daehyun said, confirming what Yanna had just said.

The version of hell was here and it seemed to be an upgrade from what they had been used to.

Then again, Calindra had always been a safe haven for its wolves, and now it wasn’t anymore because of the woman who was smiling sheepishly and shrugging like this wasn’t her doing in the first place.

The siege was something else and scary as hell.

"What? No way," Jihoon said and Daehyun looked at his brother before sighing.

This was more than they had expected, and Rania wasn’t even here yet with her army.

She wouldn’t forgo taking over Calindra to teach Jhoon a lesson, at least that much was certain. But maybe if Rania showed up right now, she would be able to save Calindra, right?

"We must defend our home."
