Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 186: Give Us Time, Will You?
[RANIA]
"Rania is our alpha, Kylian. We are not abandoned anymore, so there is no point in calling me the alpha. Our alpha is back and we will be undefeated as always," Dalrae said proudly with a smile on her face.
If Chang Wook didn’t know any better he could have easily assumed that Lim Dalrae was bipolar. But then was she?
They had been through so much in the morning and had spent the better part of the afternoon trying to come to terms with the fact that the werewolf king was a brutal man who would get what he wanted.
Maybe the king was right to come after Kim Rania for murdering so many warriors. However, if the King hadn’t fucked them up, they wouldn’t have gotten to that point. Oh, how it was madness all over, but they would be fine, right?
An hour later, Rania’s team of misfits and the Incayon wolves were assembled in the assembly hall. Once again, Luna Kim and Alpha Kim were nowhere to be seen. For the elders of the pack they were acting like being in these meetings was an act of treason.
They were treating their own people like they were about to abandon the Incayon ship and go to another place.
They were suspicious as hell, but then that didn’t matter right now, because Alpha Rania was back and asleep, while her beta Dalrae was in charge, not to mention Queen Paloma, Han Seong, and Odelia were also here.
If the Kims wanted to make a show, then they were free to, but Dalrae had this feeling that they wouldn’t show up even if they were offered pleasantries to make a show. Well, that was not going to dampen their mood today anyway.
"Good evening Incayon. I know our morning started off on a terrifying high note, and I would like to apologize for how everything was earlier. I should have been more considerate and tried to talk some sense into Rani, but she was desperate and hoped for help.
"I know we all noticed that she didn’t force us to help her and that got me thinking of a lot of things. She didn’t force us but we showed up for her.
"For a pack that has always been against my sister, the support you showed today was insane and unexpected. And I appreciate it, truly, but also have more questions," Dalrae began once they were all settled.
She was known for being so direct with her words so they didn’t expect her to go around the bushes when making her point. She had learned from the best anyway.
Dalrae looked at her people and for a moment she felt like all of this was too harsh on them. Maybe they could take the war elsewhere, but where would that be?
Incayon was the largest pack in the realm and could host members of a whole pack without them feeling overwhelmed; they were rich in resources and were also rich in strength.
They were good and blessed, but still, Dalrae wished that this could have all been handled differently.
Maybe then, they would have found a simpler way to do this, right? But when had anything ever been simple when it came to Kim Rania and everything she did anyway?
"But first, allow me to introduce and thank the people that joined us in the fight against the crown," Dalrae said as she proudly looked at Rania’s team of loyal unexpected friends.
"As you all know, Paloma, queen Paloma was one of us here at Incayon before Rania banished her for reasons only known to Rani.
"She had come with her enforcer, who was also one of us, our beautiful Doronjo’s mate, Oshita," Dalrae said and Oshita smiled at the pack members.
He knew they knew him, and that they were aware that he would never hurt anyone unless provoked. Sure, losing Doronjo had screwed Oshita up one too many times, but he had tried to lead a life in which he didn’t attack unless he felt attacked.
He had been a feral because of how he had embraced his truth, but right now, he was different. Sure he was still as crazy as usual and as deadly, but here, just like the others, he was for peace, and most importantly, Rania’s peace.
"Then we have Han Seong, the now high priest of the Valley of the Whites, a warlock who has always been on the side of truth and justice since before I was born. Then we have our darling Odelia, the kindest of them all.
"And lastly, we have Chang Wook, the Viking warrior, and my sister’s guardian. These people left their homes to come and support Kim Rania.
"We all know that they are easily considered misfits whose loyalties lie with themselves and they wouldn’t take up arms for anyone but they showed up for her. And for that, I thank them," Dalrae said earnestly as she looked at her friends.
When she was done introducing them, the misfits waved at the wolves once again as if to tell them that they didn’t come to fight Incayon. That much was already obvious, but then they were dangerous enough and the pack needed more reassurance.
"Now that the introductions are done. I would like to know, while Rani is still sleeping, whether your support today was a one-time thing. I am your representative and if you wouldn’t want to accompany her to war, then I won’t force you.
"I know Rani, and I also know she wouldn’t force you. What she did today was something that was necessary and as it stands, we didn’t lose any warriors. Her friends had made sure of that. I need you people to be honest with me," Dalrae said and they looked at each other.
There were murmurs in the room and there was a chance that the warriors would retreat and call off the alliance, and even then Dalrae wasn’t worried, because Rania had the army she needed with the psychos.
She wasn’t going to be alone again, so if Incayon didn’t want to help, then Dalrae would let the former alpha and Luna run the pack while she went to war for her sister. There was nothing to be debated in that aspect and she was going to make that clear either way anyway.
"You are our alpha, Dalrae," an old man stood up and began to speak for the wolves.
His first statement was not pleasing to Dalrae, but then Dalrae had promised them the freedom of speech. She couldn’t just recall it just because they still wanted her to be their alpha even when Rania was back.
"The law may recognize Rania as the alpha, but in the current situation, you are our alpha. From what we have learned today, it is clear that there are things that happened that forced Rania’s hand and we are not judging her.
"We don’t mind standing with her or going to her wars, but you must also understand that Incayon is home to many wolves. All of us can’t always be going to war. We have children, men and women among us.
"We have the vulnerable and older ones like me who will not be able to go with you to war. We understand her, but the only thing we ask is for you not to rush the decision. Give us until tomorrow, and we’ll have decided then."
