Chapter 184: She Belongs By My Side

[RANIA]

"She’s sleeping and I haven’t done anything to her. You know I wouldn’t harm her," Chang Wook said and Dalrae looked at him like he was joking.

He couldn’t really be here thinking that he could up and leave with Rania, no? Oh, but Dalrae was done staying on the sidelines. If Chang Wook was going to try that, then she would fight him with everything she had and didn’t have.

"Do I?" Dalrae asked, making sure to walk to his face and see for herself if there was something that screamed betrayal.

A part of her was painfully aware that Chang Wook wouldn’t betray Rania in any way, but it was also that part that told Dalrae that the Viking warrior was willing to do whatever it was that Rania wanted, even if it meant she wanted to leave home.

But was Incayon really home?

"Seriously?" Chang Wook asked, clearly not buying into this shit. Dalrae couldn’t really be distrusting him here before all these people, no? He would do whatever it took to make Rania feel better and Dalrae truly knew that.

But her sister had been hurt one too many times, shifted by fate one too many times and Dalrae would fight for her this time until she was sure that no one was going to hurt Rania anymore.

"Careful how you tread, Chang Wook. You may be dear to Rania, but you are just another warrior to me. If you hurt my sister, I will use everything in my power to make you pay.

"Now this is a sensitive time for my sister, and I would suggest you think very, very carefully about your next words, because if you think of taking my sleeping sister away from here, then even the goddess won’t save you from me.

"Trust me," Dalrae said coldly before she walked past Chang Wook and headed outside. There was a lot of truth and sincerity in her voice like she was slowly becoming aware of who she was and what she would do for Rania.

She was always used to having Rania protect her, but Dalrae had promised to show up for her sister any time of the day and this was one such time.

It was really important for no one to piss her off even more because she couldn’t believe that the king could want her sister dead. She felt like going to the palace and questioning the bastard, but she had to make things right for when Rania woke up.

She didn’t want Rania over-exerting herself and more than anything, she didn’t want to disturb Rania and she wanted to believe that her sister was sleeping.

She didn’t care that she had just proven that she disturbed Chang Wook, but then that was the truth.

Without Kim Rania, Chang Wook meant nothing to Dalrae, even the rogues wouldn’t mean shit to her.

A friend of Rania was her friend, but a foe of Rania was a reminder of Dalrae’s underlying protective habits for her sister. Oh, she was strong and much more powerful than the realm could ever be ready for.

But soon enough, they would and until then, she had hurt warriors to deal with.

"Are all the hurt warriors taken to the infirmary?" Dalrae asked and they looked at her like she was crazy.

"We took them to the disp—" the warrior began but Dalrae’s cold eyes made him stop midway. He had seen her angry back there and he knew she could use her as a tool to let out her anger into the world that had been way too cruel.

Granted, Dalrae was much more humane than Rania, but that was also what made Lim Dalrae even more dangerous.

Ever since she had been saved by Rania years ago, ever since Rania had forced her parents to take Dalrae in, and ever since Rania had loved and defended her from the very beginning.

Dalrae had promised to be there for her sister.

It didn’t matter where Rania was and what she wanted. Dalrae would follow her to the ends of the world and she would help Rania out. She would do whatever Rania wanted any time of the day.

"Take all the wounded warriors to the infirmary, and tell the doctors to attend to them all, whether they are rogues or not. Today, they all fought beside us and they fought for our alpha.

"Also tell the pack that if anyone feels uncomfortable with aging rogues helping us with winning the war against Rania and war to cleanse the realm, then they must clean up their armor, and be sure to win the war on their own, otherwise, the rogues stay.

"Anyone with complaints can walk to the king to complain about it. Am I clear?" Dalrae said to the warriors who had been staring at her outside.

She knew she was being a little mean, but then she had people to protect. Those warriors were on Rania’s side and that makes them her people too. They had dropped everything to come to support her sister and she would protect them until there was no more danger.

"Dalrae, stop," Chang Wook said and Dalrae turned harshly to him.

"Why? What is it this time? You think I didn’t see her eyes? You think I couldn’t see that she wanted to leave home? You think I didn’t see her watch her parents with sad eyes as they sat there and she fought for her life?

"What do you want to tell me that I don’t know, Chang Wook? She is my sister and I will protect her, even if I have to protect her from herself and her parents. Thank you for bringing her home, but henceforth, she is mine to deal with, and mine to protect.

"If you want to protect her, join the damn queue, but don’t even think of taking her away from me even for a moment. You wouldn’t want to know what I’d do for her," Dalrae said earnestly.

She was worked up by everything.

She knew her sister so well and she had seen the defeat in Rania’s eyes.

"I asked about the banishment because of Byungho and his wife—"
