Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 145: You Sure About That?
[INCAYON]
"What the hell just happened?" Luna Kim asked her husband once everyone had gone back to the happy mood they were in earlier.
They had been tense for a moment, when the strange Viking had stepped up but then when they realized he was just a regular wolf with a huge boy that had their anxieties shooting down.
However, there was still some worry on the faces of the elders and more than anything, on Rani’s parents.
"He shouldn’t be back here, not like this. He knows it too," Alpha Kim said as he looked at the direction the stranger had walked in.
Sure, a good number of the Obren wolves may have been introduced to him today but that man was no mystery to the Kims, because they knew him better than everyone. And they also knew that if he was back, then shit was about to go down.
"Well, he is here. What did you do this time, huh?" Luna Kim whispered frustratedly, careful not to get anyone’s attention. But her panic was obvious. Hell, even the king had seen it and felt bad for her.
The werewolf queen, Eunbi, figured that this was the best time for her to take Luna Kim for a walk. It should have been strange, but everyone knew Incayon was the strongest pack in the realm. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
So obviously the royals would want to side with them no matter how many shady things they did over the years.
"You need to relax, Hyejin-a," the werewolf queen said to Luna Kim who just stared at her like the woman was out of her mind.
"You are the last person who should even be thinking about relaxing, Eunbi. You know very well that your husband is a dead man now that he is back. I’m only worried about the peace in Incayon because that will all go down the drain if he comes home.
"From the look of things, Dalrae already knew that. This doesn’t look good, and definitely not for your husband. So don’t you stand there and talk about relaxing when your husband’s head could be already in Odelia’s collection basket as we speak," Luna Kim said anxiously.
She wasn’t worried that the stranger who had shown up would harm her, no. She just wanted to make sure that the peace that had been in Obren for years stayed the same. Sure, given the circumstances it was understandable, but then the mating festival was just for two days.
After which everything would go back to normal, but would it?
"Seojoon brought this upon himself, Hyejin. I warned him earlier and you all saw what he did. He never listens to me and if this kid is the one to remind him what it means to be accountable, then I’ll just watch.
"Hopefully he doesn’t touch my Jungwoo. But then everyone has their karma, don’t they, Hyejin-a?" Queen Eunbi asked and Luna Kim just sighed.
She wasn’t sure what was more insane; a queen who wasn’t even worried about the safety of her husband and son, or a queen who couldn’t give two shits about the peace in the lands.
"There you are again, judging me. He should have listened, when he went after the boy instead of banishing him. That kid had some good intel but Seojoon couldn’t stand the fact that a kid was better than him, so he tried to show power.
"Well, look what karma dragged back in. I won’t get between them. Someone has to pay for what happened to that kid. Besides, last I heard, your youngest was with him too. Which means that they were both back in the realm.
"You should be worried about housekeeping, Heyejin-a, not me," the queen added and Luna Kim Hyejin stared at the woman like everything was just insane.
On so many levels, she understood the queen for not wanting to come between the king and the man who had come, but then that was also another reason for them to be worried. Because nothing ever happened without a reason in this realm.
And there were so many secrets.
"Hold up, what do you mean my youngest?" Luna Kim asked and Queen Eunbi just laughed.
"Aren’t we too old to play what-ifs with each other, Hyejin? But since you want me to spell it out for you, your youngest. You know, the kid you disowned in or t of the whole pack? The one who had every right to do what she did but you failed to support her?
"You and Byungho really know how to raise kids. Who am I to interfere with a family reunion, no?" the queen said and Luna Kim glared at her like that was supposed to make up for the fact that she and her husband had failed their child.
It all didn’t make any sense and the earlier they faced that truth, the better their lives would get.
Or maybe it would be just a little worse, no?
"Byuungho tried to make it better, but he failed—’’ Luna Kim said, as she tried to defend Alpha Kim. Then again, was that really a good enough excuse for what they had done to Rani? And now it seemed like they had done it to someone else before Rani too.
This kind of cycle was dangerous and if they had to play this game, then they needed to be ready for whatever hell was headed their way.
"Yeah, right. He did so well at it, that your youngest found herself banished and back with the face of karma for you all. Anyway, that’s your family business. I have a kingdom to pretend to love.
"If you’ll excuse me, there are other lunas who need me," the queen said as she began walking away.
She knew that none of this wasn’t good for all of them but then it was easier to pretend like life wasn’t coming at them from all corners instead of just being there, hoping like the world would fix itself.
"For someone who ’lost’ a child, you sure have a mouth on you," Luna Kim said and the queen just laughed at her.
"My daughter, Jeon Junghwa, died at birth. And her twin is alive and well. At least I have something to show the world. They could pity me for being the mother who lost her child when she had wanted the kid.
"What about you, huh? Kim Rania is out of control and you banished her, leaving her out there alone. And who could have guessed that of all the people she could have gone to, Kim Chang Wook would be her choice, huh?
"You should worry about your cycle of misfits instead of worrying about the kingdom. And now they have Dalrae on their side.
"Where will you put your head for the night once all of this is over?" the queen said, her voice full of sarcasm and contempt for what Luna Kim Hyejin had done. But then was it really fair to rub it on her face like that?
Surely, they could have found a better way to talk things out, right?
"Since you’re bragging about how good a mother you have been, how about you ask Seojoon about what really happened to Junghwa?" Luna Kim said with a smirk on her face like she knew something the once mighty queen of Obren didn’t know.
"You’re messing with me."
"Am I?"
