Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 136: You Need To Listen
[DALRAE]
"How’s the training coming along, Kylian. We must ensure the security of the festival is top notch no matter what the king will say alright?" Dalrae asked her warrior who had come to her office to report the status of the operations.
Since Jungwoo left two weeks ago, Lim Dalrae had made it her mission to make sure she did her job well as the reigning alpha of Incayon. This was about the pride of Incayon, and she wouldn’t want it tainted.
Besides, Rania would be disappointed if she let everything be and watched from the side-lines. Maybe Dalrae as doing this for Rania, but maybe, just maybe, she was doing this because of her responsibility to the people that were willing to stand by her no matter what happened.
"Everything is fine, alpha. The training sessions are great. The other wolves are helping pitch up the tents in the woods. Everything seems to be going according to plan. You have nothing to worry about.
"Also, this might be nothing, but we caught a whiff of the Calindra alpha’s scent and his beta. We don’t know what they want and there are chances that they were passing by.
"But I figured it was important to let you in on whatever is happening out there with the patrol team," Kylian said and Dalrae looked at him proudly.
She loved that the wolves hadn’t changed their ways with her just because of Rania and she wanted to make sure that their home remained safe no matter what they were going through as a pack.
"If you see them again, let me know. I will go ask him what he wants. Although I have a feeling he is probably patrolling to see what is so good about Incayon that the king decided to hold the mating festival here with us," Alpha Dalrae said and Kylian jus agreed.
Of course he knew Jihoon would try shit, especially now that his pack hadn’t been the one to have the privilege of hosting, but that didn’t matter. What mattered was that Incayon was safe and would always be safe no matter who was ran in their woods.
"Yes, alpha. Please excuse me while I go pitch tents with the other pack members," Kylian said and Dalrae just nodded, before the man left, leaving the alpha wondering what the hell Park Jihoon was doing in her woods.
Maybe she was thinking too much of it, but then Dalrae had been informed of the chaos that had been ongoing in Calindra for the past two weeks. It was embarrassing that the second strongest pack in the realm was in shambles, but then it wasn’t like there was anything she could do.
She could only hope that things would be alright, because as much as Dalrae was a warrior who loved war, this time, she didn’t want war. At least for the next month, she didn’t want to engage in or help anyone fight their battles.
She was preparing herself for one battle, one that she wasn’t sure she would win by faith only. And yet she was still hopeful.
’I guess we have to wait and see what happens,’ Dalrae said to herself as she focused on the reports before her.
From what she was reading, the Incayon pack members hadn’t changed one bit.
They were strong as ever and rational. Sure the reports mentioned a few fights here and there, but it wasn’t something that they couldn’t solve among themselves. They were determined to make sure they didn’t become a laughing stock because of the festival.
Technically there wasn’t much work for Dalrae, so when she was done going through the reports and approving what needed her approval, Dalrae figured she could go out there and help her people with the handiwork.
She just wished that Kim Rania was with her at the moment. There were so many things that she and Rania had planned for, if ever the king saw Incayon as a best first to hold the mating festival. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
It had been an ultimate dream for Rania. She just wanted to see people happy and mates get their partners. That idea itself had always made Rania an excited bubble of joy and Dalrae had always loved that for her.
It was just unfortunate that the first time that the festival would be held here, Kim Rania wouldn’t be able to attend it, because she wasn’t in the realm to begin with. It was just frustrating in its own way.
’Two more weeks Rani. Two more weeks and I’ll see you again. Please show up,’ Dalrae made a silent wish as she looked up at the skies.
She knew that it would be even more challenging to see her sister, especially now that Incayon was holding the mating festival, but Dalrae would find a way.
She had to.
She couldn’t go six months without seeing Rania. Otherwise, she would go crazy and frankly, she was hoping it wouldn’t come to that.
"What’s on your mind, Dalrae?" Luna Kim said to Dalrae whose mind was occupied elsewhere.
"Alpha Lim?" the Luna tried again and this time, Dalrae stared at the woman blankly, as if to tell her that this wasn’t the time for them to interact or whatever the luan wanted with her.
She wasn’t in the mood to face the woman who had disowned her daughter despite everything. It was unfair and something that Dalrae would forever hold against the Kims.
"What is it, Luna Kim? As you can see, we’re working very hard on making the festival a success. If the issue is not too urgent, please excuse us. We still have a long way to go and just two weeks to finalize the preparations," Dalrae said, lying through her teeth.
She knew that the preparations they had made for the festival so far were sufficient and if the king was to even show up right now and demand the festival happen, they would be more than ready.
Then again, Luna Kim had to have known that Dalrae wasn’t going to just stand there and talk to her like she hadn’t taken the best source of joy for her, no?
"We need to talk, Dalrae," the luna said and Dalrae let out a bitter scoff. She wouldn’t be serious right now, right? This woman seriously didn’t think that Dalrae would abandon her port for casual talk with the luna, yeah?
"Schedule it for another day. I’m held up at the moment," Dalrae said to the luna before turning to the Incayon wolves who were working with her, "let’s keep the spirit up guys. If we finish sooner than dusk, I’ll go on a run with you."
Every wolf knew that it was a privilege to go on a run with their alpha and right now, Dalrae had just given her people the best motivation.
She was aware they would try and finish today’s workload on time so they would go on that run, besides, it had been a while since they had gone with Dalrae on that alpha’s run.
"Yes, alpha!" The wolves cheered and Dalrae looked at the Luna as if to tell her that she was already booked for the next month or so.
"Why won’t she listen to me when it’s about her parents, dammit," Luna Kim whispered harshly as she walked away from Dalrae.
And Dalrae heard her.
