Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 117: We Will Be Coming With Her
[JIHOON]
"Is Alpha Dalrae a criminal?" Jihon asked Alpha Kim and his wife who were clearly dissatisfied with the way Dalrae had treated Jihoon. They wanted to say more, but then Dalrae herself had made it a point to leave.
She didn’t want to stand there with them and pretend to listen to the when she was mad at them. If Rania was hurt, then she needed to find a way to reach her, but who was she even supposed to do that when she didn’t even know who she was with in the human lands?
"No, her best friend is. Anyway, that doesn’t matter right now," Alpha Kim said as he waved it off. He didn’t want to walk about Dalrae anymore, besides, it wasn’t like the woman would ever agree to sit down and talk to them.
"Anyway, why were you here?" Alpha Kim asked excitedly and Jihoon could tell that thick purple wasn’t serious about the welfare of their daughter. Any parent would have reacted the way Dalrae had, especially given that Jihoon was the reason Rania was out there.
They would have kicked him out and yet as they stood there staring at each other, they were more concerned about being pleasant before Jihoon, instead of questioning why he had done that to their child.
"I had a small meeting with Alpha Dalrae, but we’re done now. I was talking about the potential threats around the borders and she said she would deal with it on her own.
"I know she will, but I was just offering an olive branch for her," Jihoon’s said, when he realized that these people had changed.
They were no longer the alpha and luna that Jihoon had known about over the years, instead, they had grown cold, worse than Kim Rania, but at least Rani had her reasons for being cold.
The parents before him could easily be considered their child’s hater, but wasn’t that the truth though?
"Oh, she’ll come around. Don’t worry. She cares for our people. If she needs you, she will do it, if it means having Incayon, at least that is one trait that she shares with Rani," Luna Kim said and Jihoon almost glared at her.
She had just called Rania, Rani, and that could have been acceptable if they had shamed her and disowned her in front of the whole pack. That was something that issued Jihoon so bad you’d think he was caring about Rania.
Maybe he hadn’t else used it yet, but he was slowly showing his support for Rain in the weirdest of ways. Of course, the parents before him understand that, but what else could he expect from a couple that had disowned their child?
"I figured. Anyway, it’s almost evening. I need to be in Calindra before the sun sets. I have some errands to run there. Please excuse me," Jihoons said as he smiled softly at the Kims like that was supposed to make them feel guilty for abandoning their child.
Then again, why did he care, right?
"Alright, sure. You can come as often as you lie especially now that our psycho Rani wasn’t here to send you away alright?" Alpha Kim, said and Jihoon resisted the urge to roll his eyes at them. They were being more pathetic by the second and he hated it.
He couldn’t take it anymore, so he turned to them, staring at them like he had more to say to them. And he did, though as he stared into their eyes, he wasn’t sure if they would ever really appreciate the simple fact that their child was in pain.
Would they be worried for her? Would they want to see her well? Would they ask him where she was? Would they try to reconnect with her? Would they make her life any better? Would they live the same lives in pretense? Would they even care?
Jihoon didn’t know the answers to those questions, so he figured he could try and ask, besides it wasn’t like there was anything that could be worse than the sign that had met him here. He just hoped that there was something worth noting.
He hoped that they would care for Rai, because Rania may have been crazy, but she was good at everything she did.
"Actually I had something to say too, but given Dalrae is not here, maybe I’ll tell you to tell her.
I would have gone after her, but I have a feeling that my head will end up in the hangman’s area before dusk, and I kinda don’t wanna have that," Jihoon said, getting the Kims curious.
Whatever it was, it had to be important, but then wasn’t that her truth?
"It’s about Rani—" Jihoon began, as he told the imams of theta what had happened to their child. He had seen their faces morph into anger, worry, disappointment, and the pain that every part went through when their children were hurt.
It was all so evident and he could tell that they worried for Rania, and if they wouldn’t have opened their mouths, he wouldn’t have seen their vulnerability when they knew that their child was in pain.
He didn’t know what the hope was for, but it made him feel like humanity was still there.
"I wouldn’t blame the hunters for wanting her dead. That child is problematic, thank goodness we disowned her.
"Anyway, we hope you reach Calindra well. We will be going," Alpha Kim said as he held his wife’s hand so hard that Jihoon was worried he would break his wife’s hands.
The alpha looked unsettled, but his face was telling something else. His body was worrying for his child, but at the same time, he was trying desperately to make it seem like they didn’t care, and that pissed off Jihoon more than he had ever thought possible.
’Unbelievable,’ Jihoon said to himself when he realized he was awkwardly standing in Dalrae’s office. He was pissed that the Kims had no empathy for their daughter and they were pretending like they didn’t worry for her.
It was pissing him off, but then it wasn’t like there was much he could do for now. So angrily, Jihoon strutted out of the Incayon alpha’s office and walked outside. He could see that the wolves were living their lives as usual.
None of them seemed even the least bit angry that he was there, and that made him wonder what kind of people Incayon wolves were. How had it been so easy for them to forget all that she had done for them and to welcome her greatest enemy?
Was this them just trying to move on or did they no longer care about what was happening? Sighing, Jihon walked to the gates, making sure to listen to whatever the wolves were whispering and he wasn’t disappointed when he heard them think he had come for Rania.
Either they had to be the stupidest of wolves, or they had no clue what was going on, but could that be possible?
"Thank you, but I will take my leave now," Jihoon said to the warrior at the gate who was staring at him like he was going to kill him. That warrior was the first person who truly showed animosity towards Jihoon and he just smiled at him.
"I hope you remember that our alpha Rani’s dawn is coming, and we will be coming with it too," the warrior said to Jihoon as he made a gesture to tell the alpha that they would kill him someday.
