Chapter 105: It’s Truly Been A While

[RANIA]

"What the hell happened to her? Who the fuck did this to her?" Chang Wook asked as he took in the sight before him.

He had promised to be there for Rania and had been waiting for rain at the borders for three whole days now.

Chang Wook had been waiting, like he had made the pact, holding on, waiting for his friend to show up and now that he could see her, the only thing he could think of was anger and a lust for vengeance.

He looked like he wanted to burn down Obren and more than anything, he wanted to teach the king a lesson he would never forget. So many things were happening and the worst part of it all was the fact that they all had to listen to Rani because this was the only way out.

Oh but they wanted more answers and more everything but goddamn, Rani wasn’t making it any easy for them.

"She has broken legs, a twisted arm and hasn’t eaten for weeks. Hell, even Dalrae couldn’t help her out. She is stubborn and did I mention she was attacked by the wolves of Obren apparently because she is now a rogue?

"You should have seen how defenseless she was, and how she didn’t even want to fight back, it was almost like she didn’t want to do anything. She was giving up," Odelia rambled on and Chang Wook looked at Rani who was still in Odelia’s arms.

He was pissed that this had happened and was ready to smack Oshita’s head to the ground, but Oshita hid behind Han Seong and Paloma.

It was going to be hard to explain, but maybe they all needed someone other than Dalre who could scold Rania for her to listen because if she went on like this, they would all go crazy because of her. There were so many things at stake and Rania was at the top of that list.

"Kim Rania," Chang Wook said like he was seeing his prey before him.

They had all been on the same side and promised to be there for each other, so hearing that Rania was giving up was just not making any sense. That wasn’t what they had wanted for all of them. This wasn’t how it was supposed to be for them all.

"Come on man, Odelia is lying. She just wants to get me in trouble. I was okay and when the wolves came, they helped me out. I tried to fight back," Rania explained to her friend while her other friends looked like they were about to start cheering for the scolding.

To them this was golden but to Rania, she knew Chang Wook would even be stricter with her on the other side of the realm. Chang Wook was an older wolf, one who had relinquished his ties with the supernatural world and chose to live a human life.

He had signed the agreement so he was neither a rogue, nor was he a wolf of Obren. He was on his own in so many ways and the most neutral person Rnai could deal with without getting into trouble with the factions.

However, as she looked at her group of friends she knew that she could have probably waited for the rogues out then.

"Kim Rania—" Chang Wook called out again and this time he was walking towards Rania who Odelia seemed to not even want to put down.

It was like she was worried Rani would make a run for it, but then Rania was still too weak to even fight. She may not have wanted to admit it, but then there were so many things that she needed to come face to face with.

"Come on Odelia. Won’t you even put me on the ground? I need to show Chang Wook that I’m fine and that nothing is wrong with me alright?" Rania said to Odelia who just smirked and kept on carrying Rania. She was enjoying this.

"I swear I’m fine—" Rania began but Chang Wook just looked at her with eyes that told her to try another aspect. Rani was crazy but the man knew her better than anyone else.

"Alright fine, I may have gotten hurt, but I had a dalrae. I’m fine I swear it," Rania said defeatedly and Chang Wook looked at their other friends who finally nodded and Odelia put Rania down to confirm it for the man.

He looked like he was going to go insane, but now that Rania was alright, he had nothing to worry about, right?

"You people are terrorists," Rania whined when she watched her friends set up a bonfire. The night was here already and while they wanted to leave her be, they knew this was probably one of the last nights that they would all be in the same palace.

They had other missions to get to, especially now that Rania was out of Incayon already. They needed to make things right, but the only way to do that was to be sure that everything would be fine with Rani.

"Who love you so much; come here, Rani. Goddess, you gave me a scare,’’ Chang Wook said as he pulled Rani into a hug.

They had been away from each other for so many years but even then they had been watching out for Rania, making sure she had enough allies and making sure that when the time came for them to rise with her, they would without thinking of what the consequences would be.

It was just that simple.

"How have you been on this side?" Rania asked when they had all settled around the bonfire. She felt like this was the harshest kind of goodbye but she also knew that she wouldn’t have it all in any other way.

Her life was a little sane because of them and their support and frankly, without them, Rani would have ended up worse than people thought of her.

"I’ve been okay. Living with humans isn’t as bad as everyone thought. They are pesky creatures that don’t mind a lot of things. I know the transition will be tough, Rani, but you won’t be alone. We all will be here for you as usual," Chang Wook said and Rania held back the urge to tear up. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

She loved these people so much and seeing them ready to do the impossible for her made her heart flutter.

She always dreamt of a better incayon, but then it seemed like her dreams would always remain just that. the unfulfilled dreams of a woman who only wanted the best for her people; a woman who wanted just the best for her people.

"I know what I keep asking of you guys isn’t easy, but even then you never failed to show up for me, even when it puts you in danger, so thank you. For coming for me even though it’s getting crazier. I know this hasn’t been easy, but we have to stop seeing each other for a while.

"It will be best for everyone if you all go back to your lives, especially now that I’m leaving Obren," Rania said and everyone suddenly went silent. They had known that this day would come, but Oshita always had something to say.

"But I thought we had something special... You’re breaking my heart."
