Chapter 186 - 186

When they arrived at the main hall, Finn entered first to take a look. He saw the old patriarch and the others seated inside, their faces etched with concern and worry, far removed from the calm composure they had maintained previously.

The old patriarch, seated at the top, also noticed Finn and the others entering. His expression shifted slightly before he quickly stepped down from his position. "Finn, you've helped our Angel Faction again. To be honest, I really don't know how to thank you."

Finn waved his hand, brushing aside the formalities. He got straight to the point. "What's going on?"

The old patriarch sighed and began explaining the situation in full.

It turned out that after Finn and Stephen last departed, they had believed the Angel Faction had finally turned the tide in the battle. However, they hadn't anticipated the Demons launching another attack. With the protective barrier still compromised and not fully repaired, the enemy had seized the opportunity to strike again.

Because of this vulnerability, the Angel Faction was thrown into a passive, defensive stance. The demonic offensive was swift and overwhelming, leaving the Angels scrambling for a response. The patriarch had urgently contacted Stephen, as the two had previously exchanged arcane communication tokens capable of bridging vast distances.

That token was what enabled Stephen to find Finn, setting off the chain of events that led to their return.

"In that case," Finn said, frowning, "what about the Angels stationed nearby? Didn't they detect anything in advance?"

Finn was puzzled. If the enemy had launched a sneak attack, someone should have noticed beforehand.

"No, we were occupied with other critical affairs at the time and had summoned all available Angels to handle it," the old patriarch admitted, his voice heavy with guilt. "I wasn't there when the demons struck... they were faster than we ever imagined."

Finn immediately understood. It wasn't the old patriarch's fault. Events like these were often impossible to foresee. This was, in essence, an unfortunate accident.

"What about the casualties?" asked the Dark Witch—an alternate, corrupted version of Wanda Maximoff—her voice laced with unease.

The battle had been too fierce for either side—Demon or Angel—to emerge unscathed. It was only logical to assume both had suffered significant losses.

"The casualties were relatively low," Brees answered gravely. "Thanks to the energy we absorbed from that celestial beam during the last battle, many of us could withstand the enemy's onslaught better than before. But even with that edge, some Angels still fell."

His voice grew heavier. "We hoped no one would be harmed, but battle doesn't grant such kindness. Still, compared to what could have happened, the loss—while painful—was manageable."

The old patriarch nodded, emotion swelling in his voice again. "But regardless, we're truly grateful you came when you did. To help us repeatedly through each crisis... to be honest, we really don't know how to thank you."

Tears shimmered at the corners of the patriarch's eyes. If not for Finn's timely arrival, they may not have survived.

And yet, saying too much felt overly sentimental, while saying too little might be mistaken for ingratitude.

"As I said, we do these things as we please, and..."

Finn didn't hesitate. He launched straight into his next revelation.

"Mephisto has invaded the main universe."

"What!!"

The words hit the old patriarch like a thunderclap. He stood frozen, as if struck by lightning. The idea that Mephisto—an ancient infernal lord and one of the Marvel multiverse's most dangerous entities—had torn through the space-time continuum and breached the main universe was a staggering realization.

His face twisted in guilt. If the Angels hadn't required Finn's help, perhaps he wouldn't have been dragged into this.

Seeing the worry etched in the patriarch's features, Finn offered a rare smile.

"Actually, it's not your fault. Maybe it's my presence that attracted him. I've become too much of a threat. They wouldn't pursue me across dimensions unless they felt it was necessary."

Finn's eyes gazed far into the distance, into the very fabric of the cosmos. He was aware: if Mephisto's forces hadn't deemed him dangerous, they wouldn't have come for him.

"Now what?" Wanda asked quietly, clearly unsure how to proceed.

Even corrupted, she found herself drawn to Finn's certainty. He always seemed to radiate confidence and clarity, and in this maelstrom, that was a rare comfort.

Stephen Strange finally broke his silence. "Finn, this needs careful planning. If we rush into a decision, we risk dragging all of us into another catastrophe."

His tone was firm. In matters like these, any misstep could have cosmic consequences.

"I understand what you mean," Finn replied calmly. "But for now, our immediate priority is to let the wounded Angels rest. They've lost strength after the battle and need time to recover."

He didn't want to rush into any final decision. There had to be a way to find a balanced solution, one that wouldn't cost them everything.

The old patriarch nodded in agreement. "That makes sense. We'll focus on recovery first."

"Brice, go and give the orders. Make sure the injured Angels are given immediate care. No errors."

"Understood, Patriarch," Brice responded, bowing respectfully before leaving.

Only Finn, the old patriarch, the Dark Witch, Stephen, and a few others remained in the hall.

The old patriarch turned to the other Angels and barked, "What are you standing around for? Start preparing a banquet! This man is the savior of our Angel Faction! Don't be negligent!"

Despite the looming cosmic threat, gratitude was still essential. Their morale needed lifting, and a feast was a start. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
