Married to the loveless CEO-Chapter 41: Mixed feelings
"Sir, I think Ms. Reyes is following us,"
"What? Oh my-" John interrupted himself as he pinched the space between his brows immediately he spotted Silvia’s car. This woman was too stubborn.
He called her up to see if he could persuade her to back off.
{Hello, detective}, he heard her say.
"Ms. Reyes, I thought I told you to leave this to us. I know you are worried but let us handle this," he pleaded.
{You really don’t expect me to just stay put, my fiancée’s life is on the line here}
"It’s like you are saying we can’t do our jobs well," John remarked.
{That’s not what I’m trying to imply. You and I know I have contributed a great deal to this case and it’s not by simply staying put}
John sighed; "Fine. But be careful not to alert the suspects that we are trailing them"
{You have nothing to worry about, I’m good at camouflaging on the road and besides, these main roads of Bluewoods is quite busy this evening, they won’t notice}
"I’m just saying. I’m gonna leave you on the call, for instructions," he replied.
{Okay}
The suspects haven’t noticed them yet, they took a turn away from the main roads and towards a less busy road.
They all continued driving until the suspects made another turn which was towards a lonely road.
"Everyone stop," John said, through his walking talkie for his men at the other car and through the phone for Silvia. Everyone came to an halt.
{Why are we stopping?}, Silvia asked through the phone.
"We won’t make the turn with them," John responded.
"Send out the drone," John added.
One of his men who was controlling the drone, sent it out and above to an high altitude where they could have a clear view of their location from above through the camera of the drone that could be viewed through a pair of visual goggles wore by only the man controlling the drone.
"It’s according to the map, sir. The road they took it’s kinda an abandoned or closed road and it leads only to the abandoned drink factory which was shut down due to a fire incident years ago.
"The fire incident was the reason the road has been put to less use. I can see the suspects, they are driving towards the factory," the man controlling the drone informed after his elaboration.
"Okay, continue to keep an eye on them till they are inside the factory. You may move the drone closer to get a better view, maybe of how many armed men we are up against. But do it discreetly." John responded.
"Okay, sir," the man replied.
They continued to wait patiently until the man controlling the drone finally gave them the go signal.
"They are in, they just made a stop inside the factory. Just four armed men guarding the entrance," the man announced.
"Good, let’s move in. Stay put, Ms. Reyes, please," he pleaded with Silvia.
{Okay}, she responded.
After the man retreated the drone and kept it in place, they started to drive in as they took the turn. Silvia drove to the end by the turn but didn’t turn after them.
They drove towards the factory which they reached in a couple of minutes. The factory had a large entrance with a wide gate and fence of high walls.
The policemen, including John, got out of their cars and trooped towards the gate.
John gave it a light push, it wasn’t locked. This would be risky, but he knew what he was signing up for when he joined the force. He kicked open the gate and pointed his new model M&P5.7 pistol gun at the men he sighted.
"Freeze! Hands where I can see them!" he said and instead of freezing as told, they started to fire their own guns at John who turned back outside the gate. His back leaned on the gate as he got another gun of the same model making it two guns that he held.
"Alright... you asked for it." he muttered as he and men entered again and engaged in a shoot out with the men.
Meanwhile, Silvia stayed put at her car but she was getting impatient. As if her ears were playing tricks with her, she could hear the indistinct sounds of gunshots from not many miles away and it didn’t help her anxiety at all.
She couldn’t take it anymore, this uneasiness at the pit of her stomach was getting too much. She took the turn and started to drive towards the factory.
The gate was already wide open when she got there. She got out of her car and walked towards the opened gate. Her eyes glanced at the cars of the policemen before she walked in.
She saw that three of the policemen had already apprehended two of the criminals, with one injured as he was shot at his leg and arm. Another of the men was already shot dead on the ground.
The uninjured apprehended criminal was on his knees, his hands at the back of his head as the policemen kept an eye on them, with the injured one just sitting close to the kneeling one.
"Ms. Reyes," one of the policemen acknowledged her presence.
"You are not supposed to be here," he added.
"Where’s John?" she ignored his remarks.
"Inside," he replied.
"And my fiancée?" she asked.
"We haven’t still found him yet," he answered.
"What?" Silvia responded out of frustration and devastation.
She rushed into the factory immediately.
"Ms. Reyes?!" the policeman tried to call her back but Silvia was already inside.
’Where could he be?! Where could they be holding him?!’ she thought as she began to search around the place.
There was no sign of John and his men nor the men that were holding Davian captive. She finished searching the first floor but couldn’t find Davian. She moved to the second floor and searched tirelessly with heart filled with hope.
She entered into a room with double sided door, the place was scattered with table and chairs littered around. It seemed to be a meeting room before the factory was shutdown.
As if her prayers were answered, she found Davian at the end of the room, chained. Was it really him?
She moved closer, her heart running a marathon the closer she got to the figure. She can’t believe it was actually him. Tears formed at the corner of her eyes. She knelt down in front of him, he was chained in a kneeling position.
Her hands held his cheeks. His head was down, was he unconscious? He was blindfolded so she couldn’t tell.
"D-Davian?" she called. He was still alive, right? The tears in her eyes began to fall as she hopes he was.
"Davian..." she trails off. She saw as his head raised up weakly, his tongue ran across his dry lips.
"Silvia..." he said weakly, recognizing her voice in a heartbeat.
Sobbing, she hugged him tightly immediately, not minding the way he winced in pain. He didn’t mind her hugging him that tightly as well despite the pain it gave him.
She stopped hugging him and removed his blindfold. His eyes adjusted to the light before it opened slowly and she finally saw those grey eyes again even though they were so dull this time.
Seeing him in pain, just made her heart feel like it was being stabbed by a knife continuously, nonstop. She was having mixed feelings right now. She felt relieved and happy to see Davian again, alive.
But at the same time, she felt anger and pain for not being able to do anything to prevent him from not just being kidnapped but also being tortured like this. She blamed herself because he wouldn’t have gone through all these if he hadn’t met her.
He was burning up, he was in an awful shape, those bastards really dealt with him. They won’t get away with this, she won’t let it happen. They must pay for this.
She held the chains in thoughts of how to free him from it, that she didn’t hear when someone walked in, Davian didn’t notice too as his head was bowed down again.
The person grabbed her by her hair.
"Ouch!" she reacted as she stood up spontaneously to the hold.
"You sneaky b*tch!" the voice said as he held her hair firmly, Silvia held his hands that held her hair, he was gripping so tightly it was hurting her.
She came face to face with the asshole, Henry Cavill.
"Are you with the cops? Huh? How the hell did you get in here?!" he asked obvious questions.
"Hey... Don’t you...dare touch her," Davian muster up his last few strengths to say. Henry just bursted into laughter.
"You aren’t dead yet? You still have the strength to speak?" he mocked him.
"I’m warning you... Don’t... even think about it," he said with a broken voice.
Henry attempted to kick Davian at the stomach but in the process Silvia was able to free herself from his hold. She pushed and kicked him, sending him few feet away.
The corner of his lips pulled up in a smirk.
"How cute!" he remarked in a derided manner.
He pointed his gun at Silvia immediately.
"No...hey wait... Don’t shoot... please," Davian voice could be heard as he pleaded with Henry whose smirk only became more sinister.
"Please... Don’t shoot her...Kill me instead," Davian continued. Silvia glanced at him while Henry just laughed.
"This is the first time you are actually begging since your torture. I guess the most dreadful torture is for you to watch your loved one being killed in front of you. You are even ready to take a bullet for her. Tsk, how sweet yet pathetic," Henry responded as he continued to point his gun at Silvia who stared back at him and the gun being aimed at her.
