Chapter 95: Shameless Dragon

The mood in the throne room was depressing, and Cyrus, who was seated on his throne with a deep frown of displeasure, reeked of murder intent.

One might think he was upset because of the news about Isabella, but he was upset because he had been interrupted and had to leave his wife at a critical time.

Was it really that important?

While Mirabella and Victor stood with the strong looking guards who had come with General Samuel, Ashton stood in front of the throne, looking unconcerned.

Cyrus sighed, clearly frustrated. This was something Ashton noticed.

"Can someone tell me where the body is?" Ashton inquired, and General Samuel entered, carrying an extremely pale Isabella in his arms.

Her skin was dead and extremely dry, with green scales visible on her neck.

Cyrus’ eyes narrowed as he looked at the body because it was so familiar.

When Charlotte saw her daughter’s condition, she shrieked abnormally and collapsed on the ground before Mirabella could catch her.

"When did you get here, General?" Cyrus inquired of Samuel, who was walking towards the throne and stood in front of Ashton.

"Not long ago, your majesty," Samuel responded with a faint smile, intimidated by Cyrus’ open displeasure.

He knew he must have interrupted something as he was the one who informed Cyrus.

Ashton approached Samuel, his gaze fixed on Isabella’s sickly pale face, then on Mirabella, who looked terrified and held her unconscious mother, who was now standing on her feet.

He chuckled as he looked back at the body.

"Is she gone?" Cyrus inquired flatly.

"No," Ashton said, clutching Isabella’s wrist. "But she’s very close,"

Cyrus hummed, nodding. "Was she with Lianna?" he inquired.

"Yes, sire," Samuel replied with a nod.

Samuel was well aware of everything that had happened lately, including the mages and Statkus mages.

"Poison," Ashton explained.

"My doubts have been cleared." Cyrus laughed. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

"What? What is going on? Is she really poisoned? But who will want to poison her?" Mirabella was perplexed as to what was going on.

"Well, Mirabella, Cyrus purposefully placed Isabella in the same dungeon cell as Lianna to test Lianna." Mirabella was furious as Ashton revealed a little more.

"To see if Isabella will bother her enough to want to kill her?" Mirabella screamed angrily, jolting Charlotte awake.

"Yes." Cyrus scoffed.

"You are going too far, Cyrus!" Mirabella screamed.

"Remember, she poisoned my wife. At this point, I do not give a damn about her life." Cyrus spoke emotionlessly, but a hint of disappointment could be heard in his voice.

Mirabella immediately appeared depressed. "I understand, but..."

"But, nothing." Cyrus ascended to his throne and stepped forward.

He walked down the few steps of the stairs and stood beside Ashton, staring at Isabella, who looked even worse than Arthur did when he was dying.

"Sumera, Statkus mages’ poison." He muttered as he took a pale green pearl from his pocket.

Ashton laughed. "Back to developing antidotes." He made a joke.

"Give it to her." Cyrus shoved it into Ashton’s grasp, and Ashton seized Isabella’s neck.

"Open up, Isa." He whispered, and her lips quivered, parting slowly.

He immediately shoved it into her mouth and turned to face Cyrus.

"What happened in Empire City? What is the purpose of General Samuel’s presence here?"

"Statkus mages attacked, mother paid a visit, and Arthur was poisoned as well." Cyrus responded casually.

"Which is why you have an antidote. Nice." Ashton laughed, then gasped. "What?! Statkus mages attacked? We are not to get involved with the mages, but you are now married to one, which is adding to your problems." Ashton retorted angrily.

"Wait!" Mirabella exclaimed, drawing everyone’s attention to her. "If Lianna poisoned Isabella with Sumera, she.."

"She is a Statkus mage." Cyrus cut in straight.

Mirabella exclaimed in surprise, and Sage entered the throne at that precise moment, looking frustrated.

Cyrus had left the room and told Ava to take care of her, making sure she was distracted by food, but it didn’t last.

"Keeping this from me as well, Cyrus Dragos?" Sage questioned, sighed, and crossed her arms across her chest.

"Of course, for your own good, Sage Dragos." Cyrus responded casually. Sage had been eavesdropping on him since Samuel walked in carrying Isabella.

"I do not want to care any longer." Sage shook her head and dropped her arms, earning a small smile from Cyrus.

"How is Lianna a Statkus mage when she looks nothing like them, and do not forget she is my mother’s sister?" Sage began walking towards Cyrus.

Ashton, who was now smiling, moved out of the way, as did General Samuel.

"Are you sure you want to know?" Cyrus inquired as he approached her.

"Because we are revealing things now, I will tell you what I know." Sage frowned, shrugged her shoulders, and stood up straight as she and Cyrus met in the middle of the throne room.

"You are aware that I temporarily cut off your access to the sea of blood." Cyrus smiled, and Sage frowned deeply, crossing her arms across her chest once more.

"You owe me an explanation for keeping this information about Lianna from me." Sage became enraged.

He also created an antidote? He was being sneaky, but she was getting used to him.

Cyrus placed his hands in his pockets and leaned in close to Sage’s frowning face. "Do you want to do it here?" Cyrus asked, smiling, and Sage, stunned, closed his mouth with her palm.

Ashton chuckled. "Shameless Dragon."

All of the guards, including General Samuel, looked stunned, and Mirabella cleared her throat to suppress the mounting negative emotions.

"No, I want to see her." Sage told him through her teeth. "I’d like you to take me to the dungeon."

"Alright," Cyrus breathed cold air on her palm covering his mouth.

Sage gasped and frowned once more.

"What?" Cyrus asked, licking her palm.

Sage got goosebumps and quickly removed her hand from his mouth, her face flushed. "Nothing," her voice came out barely above a whisper.
