Chapter 94: Sly Demon

Arthur rubbed his chin as he watched the horses with interest and concern.

He was in the castle stable, where all the horses were well cared for, but the black horse he was looking at at the time was Cyrus’ horse, and he appeared sick.

The stable was a large wooden structure and in the middle of the compound, a large white flowering tree was standing.

Arthur was very concerned about the horse.

What made him sick? Was it due to the cold? His eyes were swollen and red.

Was he crying? Do horses ever cry?

"What are you up to?" A deep, confused voice asked, jolting him out of his reverie.

He turned to see that it was Victor whom he hadn’t seen for a while now.

"The day is bright isn’t it?" Arthur asked smiling brightly.

"Indeed it is," Victor laughed.

There was no sign of the sun and the grey clouds exposed that it was going to snow that day but Victor was used to Arthur strange personality.

"What is wrong with Zaron?" Victor asked Arthur referring to the horse and shifted his gaze to look around the stable seeing the other horses in the stable and the caretakers who were roaming around the stable.

"I think he is sad." Arthur pouted at the horse.

"Sad?" Victor asked confused and rolled his eyes. "Can you talk to animals?" He scoffed.

Arthur turned to face Victor and shook his head. "Maybe he is sulking because it has been a long while since his majesty rode him."

Victor stared at Arthur blankly. "Whatever," He scoffed.

"Why are you here?" Arthur asked ignoring Victor’s scoff.

"Ever since the mage kingdom was destroyed, I was sent away to guard since the demon isn’t guarding anymore." Victor revealed sulking.

Arthur nodded. "I know,"

"I haven’t gone to see his majesty to report." Victor spoke nervously then sighed deeply.

"You ran into those Statkus mages." Arthur said noticing Victor’s uneasiness.

"Yes, they are so rabid, like living corpses... I thought they were locked away in their realm by the mages." Victor said looking disturbed.

Arthur smiled. "You have missed a lot." Arthur chuckled and ended up telling Victor all what had happened in Empire City and how he got stabbed and almost died.

Victor looked calmer than expected and Arthur laughed happily like he has been given an anticipated gift.

"Eventually, so many wars will take place soon." Victor muttered and shook his head.

"A lot has happened," A sinister voice suddenly echoed in the stable and looking at the direction of the voice, Arthur waved.

Ashton smiled in amusement.

A lot had happened but because Cyrus was too preoccupied with his parrot, he didn’t tell Ashton anything.

Ashton was well aware about Sage’s life, her parents life and everything about the mages. The Statkus mages wanted the fire mage’s life source, the same thing Cyrus wanted.

"Arthur," Ashton called Arthur who was still waving at him.

"Yes," Arthur dropped his hand and walked towards Ashton.

"I need you to find the female water mage and bring her to me." Ashton spoke calmly.

"But I might run into prince River who must also be looking for her and... She is probably with her fellow mages somewhere out there." Arthur was curious and worried.

The demon was really cunning but he knew that Ashton would never do anything to hurt Cyrus.

"Find her and bring her back to Anitca." Ashton insisted growling through his teeth and Arthur nodded slowly.

"Very well, I just hope she is not in any of those kingdoms, I do not want to run into any wolf shifter or vampires or more demons or.."

"You talk too much, do you know that?" Ashton cut in angrily and Arthur smiled even brighter before walking away, out of the stable.

Victor stared at Ashton who was now staring at his claws.

"Did you get wounded by the Statkus mages?" Ashton asked nonchalantly.

"No sire," Victor replied coolly earning a devious smile from Ashton.

"Back in the mages kingdom, did you recognize a familiar someone?" Ashton suddenly asked.

"I am not sur.."

"A black dragon with gold eyes." Ashton cut in with a deep chuckle.

"Yes, he was attacking Cyrus but Cyrus threatened him and..."

"I left early, I didn’t get to see the drama." Ashton cut in again and folded his hand into a strong fist. "Indeed an ambitious friend at least that is what Cyrus said." He added with a deep frown.

Victor bowed his head. "I will go see his majesty now." He said and walked away, out of the stable.

"Good day, my lady," Ashton heard Victor greet and hearing no answer from the lady, Ashton knew exactly who it was.

"Who helped you out?" Ashton asked nonchalantly.

"The person I least expected." Mirabella growled behind him.

Ashton turned to face her seeing her looking much healthier and even more beautiful than he last saw her.

"Your queen?" Ashton taunted.

"You will die in my hands Ashton Petrov," Mirabella growled, her blue eyes glistening with rage.

"You will kill yourself Mirabella Soldan," Ashton taunted and shook his head. "Get obsessed with me than with Cyrus who has all his focus on his parrot." He added and rolled his eyes.

Mirabella blinked twice in shock. "What?!" She shouted and all the horses neighed loudly in fear.

Ashton took a step towards her and grabbed her arm. "I am serious." He said sternly.

"You are foolish!" Mirabella jerked her arm but his grip was tight.

Staring at him in shock, she saw his eyes turn pure black and a creepy smile that sent chills to her spine.

"You are the foolish one, you want to become sly to get what you want but you will never get what you want no matter how sly you become. It will led to you destroying yourself and expose that your existence has been nothing but useless." Ashton spoke with pure distaste and released Mirabella’s arm.

She gasped being offended and intimidated by him. Staring at him nervously, she decided not to say anything more. She turned away and left the stable without looking back.

Ashton’s eyes turned back to normal. His gaze shifted to the large white flower tree which was at the middle of stable’s compound to see Stefan seated one of it’s branch staring him with full interest.

"Righteous lord Stefan is indeed stalking me," He chuckled and walked away.
