Chapter 89: Oh righteous Stefan

"So, when we first met, you knew I was the queen?" Sage inquired, giggling.

"Yes, and if I didn’t, you are not very good at acting. You kept calling Cyrus’ name as if you had known him forever." Stefan responded with a smile.

They were both seated in the main hall, talking and laughing. They both felt like they had known each other for a long time.

The demon panthers were present as well, but they were sleeping on the ground near Cyrus’ chair.

"How do you feel being the lord of Elisium?" Sage asked curiously.

"The responsibility is hectic than you think dear Sage but also interesting." Stefan replied with a smile.

"I will visit Elisium one day, I know I will!" Sage said excitedly.

"Like I said before, it would be a great honor. It is your home after all," Stefan said and Sage was actually stunned.

She was actually born in Anitca and the beings she had hated all her life... Her brother and her father were those beings.

"How was mother... you spent enough time with her and I..."

"You have a human lifespan, and you did not spend enough time with her like I did." Stefan chimed in with a sigh.

"Yes." Sage nodded.

"She was kind, fierce, extraordinary, and a terrible cook." Stefan concluded his remarks with a small laugh.

Sage smiled.

She did recall her mother’s terrible cooking.

She sighed deeply.

"What about your... our father?" She inquired once more, her eyes widening with interest. "Um.. Lord Rares... how was he?" She added nervously.

"Father was very intelligent and kind, but he was gentler than mother..." Stefan appeared to be remembering a lot as tears welled up in his eyes.

Sage’s chest felt heavy. She had missed a lot, and she was starting to miss her mother, but she couldn’t help but be relieved that she had found her brother.

He was clearly knowledgeable about the Statkus mages and some events in her life.

How strange.

Stefan sniffed and came out of his thoughts, staring at Sage, who had also become lost in her thoughts.

"Do not be concerned; I am here now to protect you." He said confidently, jolting her out of her reverie.

"I still do not understand why this was kept hidden." Sage was clearly bothered.

Stefan sighed and lowered his head, his frustration and anger hidden. "Because that ice dragon is incredibly possessive," he murmured.

"You do not have to worry about me; I can take care of myself, and I have Cyrus." Sage smiled and stood up, looking around the main hall.

"Where is Cyrus?" She inquired, still looking around.

She had completely forgotten about him since the moment she accepted Stefan.

Why did he leave?

"I have to go." She moved away from the chair, and as she was about to walk out of the main hall, she felt a hand grab her arm.

"Sage." Stefan called, and she turned to face him.

His worried expression perplexed her. "What is the problem?" She enquired.

"Are you in love with him?" Stefan had to ask and Sage was totally taken aback by his sudden question.

"I..." He released her arm and she hugged herself looking away from him. "I.. I think so," She stuttered nervously.

Stefan sighed exasperatedly. "I want you to pay attention to me. I know you just found out I am your brother and you may not trust me because our bond is not as strong as it should be, but I want you to believe me when I say that falling for Cyrus will not end well for you." He stated firmly.

Sage frowned at him. "You do not know him like I do," she grumbled.

"He kills on a daily basis, and he wants to kill you. Are you listening to yourself?" Stefan inquired angrily.

"I understand that he is the type who requires therapy, but he kills because he is forced to and has grown accustomed to the act, and he will not kill me, I guarantee it." Sage stood firm.

"What has that ice dragon done to you?" Stefan exclaimed and grabbed her by the shoulders. "Do you realise how terrified I am of losing you?"

"Are you saying all of this because you are afraid of losing me or because you despise Cyrus?" Sage asked, grabbing his wrist and pulling his hands away from her shoulders.

Sage bowed her head in respect as Stefan stiffened. "Remove that hatred for my sake; I assure you that he will not kill me." She then turned away, folding her hands into a tight fist.

She now understood why he appeared out of nowhere when Cyrus was on the verge of killing her earlier. He saw Cyrus as a threat to her life, and she knew he was right, but she was too stubborn to listen to him.

Stefan appeared to be prepared to kill Cyrus if he dared to hurt her.

It made her smile, but she was determined to handle everything herself.

Sage walked out of the main hall without saying anything else.

Unbeknownst to her, Ashton was outside eavesdropping, but she was too preoccupied with her thoughts to notice him.

Ashton walked into the main hall with a big smile on his face, only to find Stefan looking solemn.

"What have you gained today, oh righteous lord Stefan?" Ashton smirked.

"I went down memory lane." Stefan responded slowly and sat back in his chair.

"Wasn’t it unfortunate?" Ashton laughed.

"Did you come here to mock me?" Stefan murmured and lowered his head.

"Yes." Ashton responded with a deep satisfied sigh. "An ingrate like you deserves to suffer." Stefan raised his head furiously, glaring Ashton.

"Bringing the past.."

"The past affects the present and the future Lord Stefan Adrelean." Ashton cut in with a furious growl. "Think less about your sister and focus on your life. Do not act like a calm saint when you are nothing less than a dragon with a black heart." Ashton took slow steps towards Stefan then lowered his head leaning his face close to his. "I know you more than you think, I am the second prince of hell after all." He whispered and smiled, displaying his thick, long fangs.
