Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 145: Mercy 1
Cyrus could taste his own blood in his mouth and spat it out before hissing in annoyance as the bleeding claw marks on his cheek sting.
It had been a long time since the demon had touched him, and it felt like the first time he had seen Ashton this enraged with him.
"Others, including Aurora, can’t stand your dark state, but I raised you more than she did, and I can’t stand your recklessness any longer." Ashton grumbled.
"Do not expect me to apologize." Cyrus hissed as he sucked his bloodied mouth.
"Any little mistake, you would have died! Both souls would gave been gone and the ice dragons would be pronnouced extinct. Is that what you want?!" Ashton shouted.
"No, which was why I relied on her." Cyrus spoke calmly.
"Why would you..."
"Do not forget about the flare of Ioas connection to the snowflake of Aleara. She has the ability to resurrect me. I took the advantage of the flare which she now own." Cyrus cut in, explaining nonchalantly.
"You are not different from those statkus mages." Ashton grumbled.
"That is an insult, but I won’t judge." Cyrus grimaced.
"Pathetic." Ashton scoffed.
"I am going to appoint a new general and bring that foolish duke out of the dungeon."
"It astounds me that you knew he was the one who sent the guards to kill you and your parrot during your trip." As he spoke, Ashton almost laughed.
"Betrayals no longer surprise me, and Sergio still released the halfling, he is still at my..." Cyrus paused, a slight frown on his face.
"Mercy." Ashton let out a sigh.
"I despise that word." Cyrus hissed in annoyance.
Cyrus had suspected General Samuel of being a spy since guards began to whisper behind his back. It was clear that someone had been brainwashing his guards, and that person was none other than the old dragon, general Samuel, who had served him for centuries.
He found out Cyrus was going to Empire City with Sage and ordered some guards to attack, which was the moment Sergio decided to help Darren escape.
Cyrus walked past Ashton with a frown on his face. "Of course you do," As they began walking side by side, Ashton laughed. "Give me an antidote," he requested.
"Why?" Cyrus inquired dully.
"Why would I request an antidote?" Ashton shook his head in disbelief.
"I won’t give if you aren’t the one who is hurt." Cyrus responded with the same dullness in his voice.
"I will be hurt if the person dies." Ashton muttered.
"You can just resurrect the person, after all, you are the second prince of hell," Cyrus said, his lips pulling up.
"You know I am not supposed to do that; I do not want Father to exile me; I still have a lot to do, one of which is to have that antidote." Ashton insisted, his gaze fixed on the unconcerned ice dragon.
"Find Snow and bring him to me first, and then I will decide whether or not to give you the antidote." Cyrus abruptly said, causing Ashton to stop and clench his fists. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"That fool knows I need to save Stefan; mercy isn’t written in his mind, not even a little." Ashton muttered under his breath and crossed his arms across his chest.
...
Sage stood nervously in front of River and Katherine’s rooms. She couldn’t hear anything inside and hoped she wouldn’t run into the Fireria’s prince and heir, who didn’t seem to like her presence.
Katherine had lost her memories, and Sage hoped that it would not affect their relationship.
"Master and pet?" Sage mumbled thoughtfully, then sighed deeply as she knocked on the door, which immediately opened, revealing a frowning River.
"Oh, it is you." He expressed his utter displeasure.
"Good morning?" Sage asked with a nervous wave, then dropped her hand, a faint smile on her face. "Um... I’d like to speak with Katherine."
"I haven’t seen her all morning, I actually thought she was with you but oh, you killed my best friend’s normal state, or so I heard," River said, not hiding his dislike for his best friend’s wife.
"I didn’t mean to..." Sage was at a loss for words, and it was clear that River had misjudged her. "I think you should ask your best friend about what happened last night before you point fingers at me." She found her voice and spoke firmly.
River laughed. "I despise Draco, and I am not going anywhere near him. Please excuse me." He immediately slammed the door in her face, leaving her furious and offended.
"Who the hell does he think he is?" She was startled and kicked the door, only to feel the pain and squeak in response. "Ow!" She limped away, exclaiming in pain.
Meanwhile, River sighed in frustration and leaned back against the door. He’d been wondering where he’d gone wrong since Katherine was startled by him the night before. That was exactly how she had been on the first day they had met.
He also learned that Sage had stabbed Cyrus, killing his normal state and leaving him in his dark state, which meant he would have to deal with Draco more frequently.
"What made her do that? Is she unaware of Draco’s heartlessness?" He inquired thoughtfully.
There was a knock on the door, and he opened it to see a smiling Ava.
"Your highness," she said, bowing her head.
"It has been a long time." River said, a small smile on her face.
"It has," Ava laughed, flustered by the prince of Fireria, before clearing her throat to regain her composure. "I... um Arthur gave me this letter... it was um... written to you," She said this while handing him the letter, which he immediately took.
"I appreciate it." He said it with a smile and quickly shut the door.
Ava sighed deeply, her face quickly turned sad, and she walked away.
River approached the bed, his gaze fixed on the letter, which bore the Fireria fire seal. He sat on the bed, opened the door, and frowned when he saw the handwriting.
"My very own uncle is writing me a letter. What a surprise." He gritted his teeth and threw the letter to the side of the bed. "Esteban."
