Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 144: Decision
After Ashton walked away, Sage squinted her eyes in pain. Her pain vanished instantly, and as Ashton’s statement about Cyrus being jealous echoed in her head, she was completely taken aback.
She began to move her body, attempting to break free from Cyrus’ immobile grip on her, but he refused to let go. Instead, he released her, made her face him, and wrapped his arms around her waist, pressing their bodies against each other.
He was staring at her with a straight face and his demon eyes were once piercing holes into her widened emerald.
Why were his eyes that way?
He wasn’t a demon, but an ice dragon! He continued to perplex her, but she couldn’t deny that she was stunned by what Ashton said.
Was he jealous?
What made him so jealous?
He stated that he had been keeping an eye on her and Ashton... Did he mean that he had been following her without her knowledge all morning?
She was certain she hadn’t seen him in the room or the bathing room.
’Could he still be in love with me in this dark state?’ Sage questioned her thoughts while staring deep into those demon-like eyes.
"L...let me go." Sage frowned as she muttered.
"You are not afraid of me, but you are running away from me, arrogant parrot." He hissed coldly and stared at her as if he was about to murder her right there and then.
"Let me go now!" Sage raised her voice this time, and he abruptly let her go.
He caught her chin just as she was about to turn away, but she slapped his hand away and stared at him furiously.
"Do not touch me." She was enraged and growled angrily.
"Oh?" Cyrus asked unconcernedly, tilting his head to the side. "And why should I not? Remember, you are my wife." He inquired, chewing his lower lip.
"You made me to kill your normal state! You have gone too far, and for making me to do so, you have no right to touch me in any way!" Sage issued a warning and pointed at him. "Or else I’ll make you regret a lot of things."
Cyrus twitched her lips. "Are you threatening me?" He asked, then suddenly grabbed her neck, causing her to gasp in surprise.
"Foolish parrot," he grumbled, tightening his grip and pouting his lips as he noticed her glowing lava veins on her neck. "Do not forget that you were on the verge of death last night, but I saved your life. You should be grateful to me for being a good prey."
Sage scoffed in shock. "Are you deaf?" Her eyes blazed as she inquired.
Cyrus leaned in closer, his nose brushing against hers. "Just because I forced you to kill my normal state doesn’t mean you can deny the fact that you are in love with me, dear fire mage," he said casually, and Sage despised the fact that he didn’t care about the extreme damage he had caused, but he was right, she was still in love with him.
"Me being in love with you does not mean that I will let you treat me like a prey, pawn, or slave, Cyrus Dragos; I, Sage Dragos, will not let you mishandle me, and I will stop running away from you once I accept that you care for me as much as I care for you." Sage spoke sternly and grabbed his wrist with both her hands, her face expressionless.
Cyrus’ brows raised in admiration. "Did you make this decision entirely on your own, Sage Dragos?" He asked, his lips still pursed.
Sage couldn’t get past the fact that, no matter how sinister he appeared and sounded at the time, he still looked adorable pouting his lips.
"Yes, it is my decision, and I will not change it." She said firmly, tightening her grip on his wrist as she felt.
Cyrus burst out laughing, which Sage took for him mocking her.
He released her neck and put his hands in his pockets, still laughing, while she stared at him, wondering what was funny.
He didn’t seem happy, or did he?
He was completely perplexing her.
He came to a halt in front of her, his face solemn, as if he hadn’t been laughing a minute before.
"What is funny?" She asked slowly.
"Do you honestly think I am going to pursue you, Sage Dragos?" He inquired unexpectedly.
"Actually, I do not think, I know." Sage stated confidently.
"How pitiful." Cyrus scoffed, rolling his eyes.
"Pitiful or not, you are going to pursue, but the thing is..." She took a step towards him, leaned in close, and kissed his jaw. "You won’t be able to touch me, not even for a second." She whispered, making sure he felt her hot breath on his jaw.
Sage smiled, knowing she still had an effect on him. She walked away from him in the same direction Ashton had.
Those demon eyes weren’t going away. She needed to talk to Ashton about Cyrus’s dark state. Cyrus didn’t seem like a typical ice dragon, which suggested that there might be a way to bring him back to life.
"Might." She sniffed and muttered. "I am suffering from a severe headache; too much has happened, unbelievable things."
She had not addressed the fact that Katherine had lost her memories, and now her husband was trapped in his dark, with no hope of returning to his normal state.
She sighed deeply as she clenched her trembling hands into strong fists.
"Why did he have to make me do that? Why?" She inquired helplessly.
Cyrus watched Sage fade from view, and his eyes gradually returned to their blue slit form.
"She is in no way threatened by me. Even Ashton feels threatened by me, but she..." He paused his speech with a small nod. "This does not change the fact that I will take her life force until then; I am the only one allowed to kill her." He continued sternly.
"You forced her to kill your normal state without fear of death." With a deep growl behind him, Ashton suddenly said.
Cyrus rolled his eyes and turned to face the enraged demon. "Why should I be scared?"
"Absolutely reckless!" Ashton yelled and slapped Cyrus across the face with his claws.
