Married To The Last Ice Dragon-Chapter 111: Into town with a demon 2
Sage exhaled a deep sigh of relief as the carriage came to a halt, stood up, and approached Ashton, who was sitting next to the door, lost in thought.
"What are you thinking about?" She asked, taking him out of her thoughts, and the door suddenly opened, revealing Victor.
Sage walked out of the carriage with a faint smile, and Ashton followed her.
Laughter reverberated throughout the environment. It was a lovely area that resembled a large garden for bonding and fun. There were trees similar to those in the castle, as well as ice flowers that adorned the garden.
There were large ice sculptures in every corner of the area that were glowing brightly as the area’s light source.
The sky had already turned dark, and it appeared to be getting colder.
Sage gazed around in awe as he noticed children and their parents building snowmen and others throwing snowballs at each other.
Sage smiled as she noticed some couples sitting on benches and others conversing on the snow-covered ground.
Everything she saw at the time reminded her of the fun she and Cyrus had in Empire City.
She missed him and felt empty after not seeing him in a while. It seemed like she hadn’t seen him in years.
She hugged herself and inhaled while looking at Ashton, who was watching her with interest.
"I would like to return." She told him and turned to look at the carriage, where Victor was inspecting the horses.
"Where is Arthur by the way?" She inquired, her head tilted in curiosity.
"He was assigned a mission. Are you two friends?" In a playful tone, Ashton inquired.
"He is a friend of mine." She sighed deeply and turned to face him. "I would like to return; you can be angry at me for wasting your time." She said to him, looking up at the dark sky.
"You act as if you haven’t seen him in years." Ashton shook his head and tsked.
"Feels like it," she said with a deep sigh, turning to face the carriage.
"He is very busy; you will see him tonight." Ashton told her confidently, noticing how much Cyrus’ absence had affected her.
It was strange to him because he was aware that she and Cyrus had previously been mortal enemies. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Sage frowned at Ashton as he scoffed and shook his head in disbelief.
"Do not frown; we can leave here and go for a walk around town." He laughed at her and then turned to face Victor. "We will meet you in town later."
"How busy is the town at this time?" Sage inquired, and Ashton scoffed in disbelief.
"Antica never sleeps. Oh, I forgot you are a human with special abilities." Sage frowned and walked away as he responded and mocked her.
"Wait! How do you know that’s the correct path out of the frost garden?" He inquired, hurrying after her.
Meanwhile, a group of grey-hooded people could be seen standing behind the carriage Ashton and Sage had exited.
"Should we pursue her?"
"No, we did not expect her to appear out of nowhere."
"There is also a demon with her."
"Let’s follow them and wait for her to be alone."
With that, they all vanished.
.
Sage and Ashton walked alongside a crowd of people on the side of the road.
Sage realised Antica was a busy place based on the number of people going their separate ways, doing business, and socialising that evening. The population was even greater than that of Credia’s main town.
"So, do you want to go for a walk? Do you want to make a purchase?" Ashton asked, jolting her out of her reverie.
"I do not have any money." Sage muttered.
Ashton burst out laughing. "Remember, you are a queen?"
"So I get free things? In Credia, I purchase my items, myself." Sage moaned.
Ashton came to a halt, faced her, and shook his head in disappointment, causing her to come to a halt as well.
"What?" Sage frowned at him.
"You really miss this Credia," He tsked then smiled. "Do you want to follow me to a brothel?" He suddenly asked.
Sage gasped. "What? No!"
Ashton scoffed. "What do you want to do then? Kill? Place some worthless dragons on fire?" He asked eagerly.
"By worthless you mean, random." Sage scoffed in disbelief and walked passed Ashton who stroke his chin with pride then went after her.
"Does anyone recognize me as the queen?" Sage asked Ashton.
"Of course they do, I think," Ashton chuckled.
"You think? I do not want to be known!" Sage snapped at Ashton who shrugged his shoulders.
"You get angry so easily. How does that ice dragon tolerate you?" Ashton mumbled.
Sage sighed deeply. "If I may ask, how long have you been with Cyrus?" She asked curiously.
"Using human age, it was when he was eight years old." Ashton answered nonchalantly.
Sage eyes widened not expecting Cyrus to be that young when he met Ashton, a high ranking demon.
How on earth did Cyrus save Ashton?
"Curiosity kills, Cyrus’ parrot," Ashton suddenly said.
Sage looked at him while still walking, and when he returned her gaze, his eyes flashed with pure black, causing her to hum and turn away.
"My curiosity keeps me from being kept in the dark." Sage muttered, then lowered her arms and clenched her fists.
Ashton laughed as he looked at her. "It is all very dramatic. Do you want something to eat?" he inquired, teasingly.
"We should return to the castle." Sage said as she came to a halt.
They were in front of a small antic shop on another street away from the crowds, a quiet street with only a few shops like the antic shop.
"Very well, but I did not expect us to finish this so quickly. Stay here while I go find Victor." Ashton informed her.
Sage nodded slowly as she watched him run from her sight.
She sighed deeply, only hearing the wind whistle and crickets chirp.
Despite the fact that all of the shops had lights in them, indicating that people were present, she felt alone and watched.
Her eyes were a fiery red, and fire bursted from her hands as she stood in a fighting stance.
"Come out right now!" She yelled angrily, and the grey-hooded people in fighting stances appeared in front of her.
"Who are you?" Sage was taken aback by their unexpected appearances.
One of them stepped out and began walking towards her. Alerted, she immediately fired a blast that hit the person, knocking them to the ground.
The fire on her hands grew stronger, ready to annihilate them all, when the unidentified person called out, "Sage!" in panic.
Sage froze in surprise because the voice was very familiar. She dashed up to the person and removed his hood without hesitation, realising it was a sick-looking Darren.
"Darren!" She smiled brightly as she called.
