Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 555: Dragon’s Burial With Fire
Abigail was very sure that she would never have the chance to see her children with Xavier. However, at least she was certain that Arielle would be able to help them see the world. Abigail’s dragon body shrank and continued to shrink. Otis approached them while touching Arielle’s shoulder to join in.
Abigail transformed back into a human, sleeping tightly while holding Xavier’s head, which had been dead for long ago.
"Arielle," called Abigail in a very weak voice. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Arielle rubbed Abigail’s head and wiped the sweat off the woman’s beautiful face.
"Yes, Abigail?"
"I trust my children to you. Please take good care of them," said Abigail while touching Arielle’s hand.
Otis touched Abigail’s head like a father about to lose his daughter.
"Abigail, I’m sorry I couldn’t be of much help to you."
Abigail shook her head. "No, Otis. I should be the one apologizing. For the last ten years, I’ve always been bothering you. I am very lucky to have met such a good man like you."
Otis also had welled in his eyes. He couldn’t bear to see a dragon that was so valiant in every hunt, looking weak like this. Abigail The Hunt, the name really described her well. He still remembered how Abigail flew through the air, maneuvering between the dense trees to find her prey in one try.
Arielle had only known Abigail after meeting a few times, but what happened between them strongly bounded their relationship. Starting from the sense of responsibility that she felt to help Abigail, so that the woman could forgive her husband’s past actions, to a promise Arielle made with Maxieno to take care of Abigail’s children.
Arielle wiped the tears on her face with her hand.
"Sure... I promise to take good care of them," she answered in a trembling voice.
Otis lifted Abigail’s upper body and rested it on his thighs while stroking the woman’s head gently, and a beautiful song Arielle had never heard began to be sung by Otis. Abigail smiled with her eyes closed. Her hand was still holding the horn that was above Xavier’s head. She seemed not to want to let it go.
Otis continued to sing. He still remembered that Abigail had sung the same song to him when he was little. Although now Otis looked much older than Abigail, the woman was much older than him.
Arielle could sense that another figure had joined in. The man chose to stand at a distance rather than join them because he knew that Abigail didn’t want to see him right now.
Maxieno stood while leaning against one of the tree trunks. He was also listening to Otis’ song. In the past, when Abigail and Xavier were still living with him in the castle, they used to sing the same song to little Otis.
Abigail and Xavier were a pair of mates who had done the mating procession since they were eighteen years old, but they only had the opportunity to have a child decades later. Just as the others were about to welcome the new members of the dragon clan, they had to leave this world for all eternity.
A slight feeling of guilt enveloped Maxieno. He was an older brother. However, Maxieno didn’t do anything to help Abigail who was pregnant with his future niece for the last ten years. He just thought that even though Abigail was his brother’s mate, Abigail was still another woman.
What if one of the other female dragons who would later become his mate later saw Maxieno guarding Abigail? That would definitely hurt her feelings. With that in mind, he always told Otis to look after Abigail and prepare all the woman’s needs to replace Xavier’s duties.
But, what happened now? Even the mate Maxieno was thinking didn’t appear. The mate he had been waiting for for so long still did not appear. Even his brother got his mate first. Now, all he got was guilt for his brother, Xavier, for abandoning Abigail.
Maybe.. If Maxieno did the job of replacing Xavier in taking care of Abigail or maybe meeting all the woman’s needs, Abigail didn’t have to take pains at being pregnant for ten years. The woman did that just to reduce the incubation period.
Regret always came last indeed.
Maxieno stood up when he heard the song Otis was singing had stopped and was replaced by a sob. He approached Abigail who was now fully asleep. Even in her final moments, the woman was still holding Xavier tightly.
"We have to bury them right away," Maxieno said, and Otis answered with a nod of his head.
Maxieno turned his head to the side, where three medium-sized eggs with shells that sparkled like rainbows on their soft surface. He squatted in front of the three eggs.
Otis and Arielle also noticed how the light on the white shell slowly faded and formed a new layer of black.
"They have lost their mother’s warmth," Maxieno said, then turned to Arielle. "Your job is to warm the eggs again and bring them into the world."
Arielle nodded in understanding. That was her job. The red tendril-shaped tattoo coiled around her wrist was the proof. She must complete the task right away so that none of her descendants had to bear the task.
Maxieno carried Abigail in his arms. Several people suddenly appeared from behind the tree. Luffy also tagged along in the back. They were all members of the dragon clan. Everyone was walking around where Abigail last breathed.
Violet appeared, carrying a basket that had been lined with thick silk. She put the three hardened eggs there and handed them over to Arielle. Some people went to collect firewood and pile it up very quickly in one place. Maxieno was the one who placed Abigail’s lifeless body on a pile of wood.
Arielle, who still couldn’t accept the face, burst into tears in Otis’ arms.
Maxieno also took his brother’s head. There was a brief pause as he looked at Xavier’s closed eyes. His brother’s mischievous smile and laugh would never be there again. Maxieno then placed his forehead in front of Xavier’s head and put it on Abigail’s side.
