Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 538: Maxieno Leave With Arielle’s Promise
Arielle looked left and right, looking for another figure she was worried and missed besides Ronan. Since she came, she had not seen Tania’s presence.
"William, do you know where Tania is?" Arielle asked William.
William put on a sad expression on his face. "Tania is resting. She had been sick for the past few days from lack of sleep. She also didn’t eat her food properly. The doctor had treated her and her condition was getting better now," he explained, making Arielle stop her steps.
Arielle wanted to visit Tania right away. She then shook her head. No, she had to immediately give Xavier’s head to Maxieno. Arielle was also worried about Abigail’s condition. Besides, she also had to pick up Irene and Arthur after Ronan woke up later. Arielle let out a long sigh. She still had a lot to do right now.
Arielle showed Maxieno the direction of the hall and the two knights guarding the hall opened the door. Maxieno stopped in front of the hall, then growled angrily. His head looked up to see that his brother’s head had been turned into a trophy by Ronan. It was frozen and displayed on the throne with the addition of a golden wolf statue that was stepping on Xavier’s head.
Maxieno regretted giving the Elixir of immortality to Arielle. If he could, he hoped the man would just die miserably. Maxieno turned around, not wanting to see Xavier’s head.
Arielle apologized to Maxieno, then asked Kael, William, and Lazarus to remove the dragon’s head from the throne. Aimee brought a very wide silk cloth to wrap around the head. Maxieno decided to wait while outside, counting the numbers. He tried to be patient.
"Maxieno," Arielle called.
"Hmm?"
Arielle couldn’t find the right words. She was in a difficult position. Arielle felt very bad for Maxieno, but she also didn’t want to blame Ronan because her husband did it to protect his citizens.
Maxieno turned around and took his brother’s head wrapped in a cloth from Aimee’s hand.
"Well, it’s all already happened. It wasn’t your fault either. My young dragon members were also very reckless in attacking human settlements back then. Just don’t forget your promise, Arielle. You’re bound by a promise to me."
Arielle was very surprised. She had never heard Maxieno’s gentle tone before, and finding the man speaking softly and politely made Arielle look at him in disbelief. She started to think that the red-haired man before her was someone else, not Maxieno who had a quick temper.
"Hurry back, so you can pick up the two of them. I don’t want the dragon clan to receive more burden from your people," he continued in a sharp tone.
Arielle’s fascination with Maxieno’s wisdom instantly crumbled when the man bumped into her shoulder violently and then walked away.
"Don’t forget your promise!" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Arielle held her wrist, which had a tattoo of the seal of her agreement with Maxieno.
"Give my regards to Lord Otis. I will visit again and pick up my family after my business here is done!"
Maxieno raised his hand, waving it slightly, then left the palace.
Aimee, Kael, William, and Lazarus had many questions in their minds that were difficult to answer with logic. They had been wondering who was the red-haired man? At first, William thought it was Crimson’s or Sasha’s siblings, but the red color of the two was very different.
Maxieno left in a dragon form and spit out flames, burning the wolf statue in the garden as a farewell gift. He then soared through the thick clouds and returned to Birwick Mountain. Arielle who saw that just shook her head.
Maybe the mature and dignified Maxieno was just an illusion.
Arielle asked Kael, William, and Lazarus to wait for her in Ronan’s treatment room. She wanted to meet with Tania first. Aimee offered herself to escort Arielle to Tania’s room. After they arrived in front of Tania’s room, she knocked on the door several times and a maid who had just given breakfast and morning medicine to Tania came out of the room.
Aimee opened the door of Tania’s room wide.
"Good morning, Tania," Aimee greeted the old woman cheerfully as usual. She was really strong because she still tried to be more cheerful for the people in the palace, especially Tania who was very devastated because she hadn’t heard anything from Arielle for a long time.
Tania turned to Aimee. The old woman covered her mouth and coughed softly. Tania was sitting alone.
"Tania, I brought someone for you," said Aimee who was still hiding Arielle behind the bedroom wall.
Tania could only sigh. She still felt very weak right now. Tania waited for a while until Arielle stepped in, making the old woman gasp. She blinked a few times to make sure she didn’t just see a hallucination.
"Tania..." Arielle called softly.
The old woman’s lips trembled. Arielle rushed to run and hug Tania. The woman who took care of her since she was a baby and the one who was always there for her when Arielle needed her help. Arielle missed Tania very much, even though she was trying hard to hold back her longing. Returning to Tania’s arms made Arielle feel like a child who wanted to tell all her problems.
"Your Highness... where have you been?" asked Tania in between her tears.
Arielle couldn’t answer because she was too busy crying. She hugged Tania who was much thinner than she had last remembered. The last thing Tania did for her was put on a scarf before Arielle left for Birwick Village.
"Tania... why are you so thin? Are you not eating well? Didn’t I tell you to take care of your health?" said Arielle while holding Tania’s shoulders, which only felt like bones.
Tania pinched Arielle’s cheeks and pulled them gently.
"How can I eat and sleep well if I keep worrying about you every day!" Tania’s scold made Arielle want to laugh in between her tears.
"I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to leave you like that!"
