Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 217: The Northendell Spy
The fruit seller also smiled at Sasha. He took a paper bag and filled it with lots of tangerines and other fruits. The man gave him pomelo, mango, tangerine, and peach.
"No, sir. We just bought a few."
"As a welcome gift for this child."
Arielle furrowed her brows. "Welcome?" she asked, confused.
The man smiled at Sasha and gave a small yawn that made Sasha widen in surprise. He smiled broadly and accepted the bag containing the fruit.
"Thank you very much, sir! I’ll eat it all up!"
"Oh, wait a minute," said the fruit seller. The man entered the house.
Arielle did not understand what happened between the fruit seller and Sasha. Arielle used to buy fruit at this place several times, but she never got free fruit. So it was quite surprising to see Sasha get this much fruit.
The man came back and handed Arielle a slip of paper.
"This is a list of good restaurants, snack stands, and inns around here. If you want to eat delicious and cheap food, go to them."
Sasha peeked at the written list, then nodded in understanding. It was a list of Northerners disguised as Nieverdell residents.
"We understand. Then we will say goodbye, sir," said Sasha.
The boy took Arielle’s hand to leave the fruit seller’s stall because there was another woman who wanted to buy fruit too.
"Don’t forget to visit them!" shouted the fruit seller, waving his hand.
Sasha did the same and replied back. "Yes, I will!"
Arielle again took Sasha’s hand to go to a comfortable place to eat their fruit.
"You look very close to the fruit seller earlier," said Arielle making Sasha nod proudly.
Being a spy turned out to be a lot of fun. He would not know who he would be interacting with. However, knowing that there was someone else like him in a strange place was such a relief, as well as exciting.
He was very surprised when suddenly the man yawned. The confused Sasha initially thought that it was just a coincidence. But the man yawned again as Sasha winked.
His identity was further clarified by the three red, triangular dots at the end of the paper listing the other northerners around here.
Sasha raised his hand to cover his mouth so that no one would see the royal secret he was about to tell Arielle.
"That man is our last refuge if we need help."
Arielle turned back to look at the man selling the fruit earlier. Arielle understood now. It must have been one of the people Ronan had assigned to look after her.
Arielle was a little relieved to think about it. She then looked at the row of names listed. Arielle could read now, and she recognized some of the people there.
She smiled a little. It turned out that they had been spies from the North all along. They blended really well. Arielle then kept the list of names in her dress pocket.
Tania chose a place for them to have a picnic. Because the sun was shining so hot, they chose a shady place under a tree near the river. Sasha couldn’t stay still. He approached the river and then immersed his hand in the flowing water.
Arielle and Tania just watched from a distance. The river was not deep, and in the middle of the year like this, the flow of the river was not so strong.
"Whoaaa!!! There are fish!!" Sasha exclaimed enthusiastically at the small fish swimming around her hands.
The Nieverdell’s river didn’t require any priest to melt the pile of ice on it. The water was also very warm naturally. Sasha turned to Arielle, asking for permission to try to dive. Arielle shook her head, forbidding him.
Tania called Sasha to tell him to eat their fruit soon. With unsteady steps, Sasha obeyed Arielle’s instructions and laid down lazily on the grass.
"You can swim?"
"That is precisely what I want to do, learning to swim here."
Arielle turned to Tania then the woman nodded. After peeling an orange, she fed it to Sasha, who looked sad because he was forbidden to play in the water.
"Then tomorrow we will go to a better place. In this place, the water is too shallow and there are a lot of rocks. It will only hurt you."
Sasha immediately sat up hearing Arielle’s invitation. His eyes sparkled with excitement. "Is that true? We can play in the water?"
Arielle nodded in agreement. "In a nearby village, there is a lake with a small waterfall that local women often use to bathe in."
"Woman? But I’m..."
Arielle pinched Sasha’s cheek. "As long as you act like a sweet child, they will not suspect you," continued Tania.
Sweet Child? But what if he met another girl there? Sasha’s face turned red with embarrassment. He glanced at Arielle and nodded slowly. "I-I’ll join in."
"Then finish your fruit first. After that, we’ll find lunch at a restaurant near here."
Sasha got excited again. He ate the kind of fruit that the man gave him. It tasted really different. But what Sasha could tell was that Nieverdell fruits had a mix of sweet and sour flavours.
The three spent time together visiting many places in the city center. Sasha was very satisfied looking around. They only returned to the palace when the sun went down.
Arielle put a blanket on Sasha, who was fast asleep. She couldn’t even close her eyes. Arielle sat alone on her room balcony and looked at the palace where the rest of her family lived.
"Maybe they’re having dinner together," she muttered.
Arielle hugged her knees and touched the necklace Ronan had given her. They had only been apart for five days. She had spent three days on the trip and two in the palace of Nieverdell, but it felt like a very long time had passed since she had not seen him.
Arielle lifted the red pendant and rubbed it gently. The moon shone brightly. Arielle knew that this was the night Ronan would turn into a wolf.
The full moon night where she first met Ronan in his wolf form.
"I hope he’s okay."
