Chapter 209: Fighting Back

"It’s a payback for your behavior in the North back then."

"W-what did I do?"

"You dare ask what have you done?" Andrea asked in a high pitch.

Andrea grabbed Arielle’s arm and gripped her so tightly that Arielle felt pain. Arielle’s face reddened as she struggled to breathe and that irritated Andrea even more.

No... if Arielle continued to let her sister treat her the way she did, she would die before Ronan come to get her.

She must endure...

She must fight....

"You think I don’t know that you sleep with the king? The blood of prostitutes is already running thick in your veins. You and your mother are both whores!" shouted Andrea in Arielle’s face.

Arielle never saw her mother in person. She didn’t know who her mother was and what her past was like, but she couldn’t accept her mother being insulted like this.

Arielle, who was on the verge of so much pain, had found the courage to open her mouth and then bit Andrea’s hand so hard that she screamed in pain.

"AAAAH!!! YOU FUCKING BITCH!!!"

Andrea hit Arielle’s head with the tip of her fan so hard it knocked the girl unconscious on the spot.

Arielle woke up with a very dizzy head. It hurt a lot, especially on the right side, where Andrea hit her so hard. There was a sound of crying that made Arielle feel uncomfortable. The girl blinked a few times to adjust the light entering her eyes.

She turned to the side where Tania sat while contemplating, holding her hand. Next to Tania, Sasha was crying on the woman’s lap.

"Sasha? Why are you crying?" asked Arielle making Tania and Sasha raise their heads to check Arielle’s condition quickly.

"Princess, are you all right? Do you feel pain anywhere?" asked Tania worriedly.

"Oh, I’m fine. A little sore on the right side."

Arielle saw her dress, which had blood stains on it, and she could see a basin of reddened water near her feet. It seemed that Andrea’s hit had wounded her. Arielle just sighed seeing the blood.

Even though she had intended to remain silent and didn’t retaliate, why did she have to bite the woman’s hand?

It felt so weird. Usually, Arielle would feel guilty and sorry, but this time, her heart felt more relieved. Arielle clutched her sore mouth. It seemed that she had bitten Andrea so hard that her own mouth hurt.

The crying Sasha climbed onto the bed and hugged Arielle tightly. The girl returned Sasha’s hug to calm him down.

"I’m sorry, Princess... I had promised to look after you, but I was negligent on my first assignment! I’m a bad guard!"

"It is okay. You’ve done your best. Sister Andrea did come so suddenly. You don’t have to blame yourself."

Tania just stood there, making Arielle grab the woman’s hand and then hold it. "I’m fine. You don’t have to worry," she said.

Tania just smiled. In her heart, she kept blaming herself. Seeing the bloody wound on Arielle’s head, which she could only bandage with a clean cloth, for now, made Tania feel sad.

They couldn’t even call a doctor to check Arielle’s condition. If they were in the North, Tania knew that the king would never let the girl get hurt.

What would she say to the king the next time she saw him?

Tania had once told herself to forget about Matthew. But once Andrea said that name, she immediately froze. Poor Matthew, the man had been left alone by his wife who died first after giving birth to their daughter, and now he had to lose his only treasure. His daughter died too.

Tania’s heart felt very heavy now. She really wanted to see the man again. At least she wanted to know the latest news about the man. Tania didn’t care if Mathew remarried or whatever. Most importantly, she didn’t want him to be sad.

Likewise with Arielle. Tania touched the cloth bandage on Arielle’s head, which was no longer bleeding.

"Sorry, Princess. We can’t call a doctor."

Arielle smiled widely. "It’s okay, Tania. You don’t have to think about it. A small wound like this won’t kill me. I will recover faster when you treat me than the doctor who treats me," she said with a cheerful expression making Tania’s heart feel a little better.

It was true that the wound wouldn’t kill her, but seeing how angry Andrea was earlier, Tania was worried that the woman could really kill Arielle if she wanted to. Tania shook her head, trying to erase her bad feeling.

Sasha looked up at Arielle.

"I will report this to the king immediately!" he said vehemently.

Arielle stroked Sasha’s head gently. "No, Sasha.... His Majesty is currently busy with a lot of work. If we add unnecessary information, it would just distract him from work, and we’ll be here for a long time."

"But ..."

Arielle raised her index finger and then looked at Sasha deeply.

"If you report my injury, what if His Majesty the king punishes you too for not taking care of me?" the girl asked, making Sasha’s breath hitched.

The boy clutched his neck, which felt suffocated. Arielle chuckled at Sasha’s frightened face.

"Are you sure you still want to report it to the king?" challenged Arielle making Tania smile.

She was amazed by Arielle, who had returned to being cheerful even though she had experienced something bad a few moments before. She then stroked Sasha’s head, which was shaking with fear at Arielle’s threat.

"I-I’ll keep my mouth shut tight!" he answered quickly.

"Thank you, Miss Sasha," replied Arielle, making the child’s face blush.

Elsewhere, Andrea was still crying loudly in Queen Rosalie’s arms. Three doctors were examining her injured hand from the bite that Arielle gave.

Annalize, her younger sister, winced in pain as a doctor was cleaning the wound with alcohol.

"Can you do it slowly! My daughter is in pain!" Queen Rosalie’s rebuke made the three doctors flinch in shock.
