Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 196: Little Birthday Party
"Are you mad at me for using your study? If you don’t like it, I don’t mind removing all the ornaments so you can get back to work."
"No, Arielle. I would never be mad at you, it’s just that... I have other plans today. I intend to spend the day alone with you. I worked all night so I don’t have to work today."
"Sorry," Arielle said quietly. "Is there anything I can do to make your heart better?" asked the girl. She didn’t want Ronan to be sad today. Today was the man’s birthday celebration, even though she had held it a few days early.
Ronan watched Arielle carefully, and he felt he would be a selfish person if he got annoyed over something trivial like this. Maybe this was Arielle’s wish before going home. Hadn’t he himself said he would pamper Arelle by giving her whatever she wanted?
"Maybe a kiss on the lips will make me feel better," he pouted adorably.
Arielle smirked. Both eyes narrowed into a crescent moon, so beautiful. The girl again cupped Ronan’s face and then gently pulled him closer. Her feet also tiptoed up to touch the man’s lips.
Ronan smiled, seeing Arielle’s attempt to equalize their height. The man happily bent down to welcome Arielle’s soft lips that were pressed against his.
Ronan wrapped his arms around Arielle’s lower back to close the distance between them. Ronan, who was not satisfied with the kiss given by Arielle, pressed the girl’s lips to taste the sweetness. He could taste a glimpse of the Frosteberry fruit.
Ronan lifted his face away. He stared at Arielle’s luscious lips.
"May I see your tongue?"
"My tongue? What’s with my tongue?"
The man pulled Arielle’s chin. And sure enough, Ronan could see Arielle’s tongue turning red from the Frostberry the girl ate. Ronan wanted to continue their kiss, but Arielle immediately put her palm in front of her lips.
"Why?" asked Ronan in a voice muffled by Arielle’s palm.
"I still want to celebrate this little party. Can I?"
Ronan briefly kissed the girl’s palm and then nodded. Arielle wanted it, so Ronan would grant it.
Arielle gave a sudden kiss that made Ronan laugh out loud. The man released Arielle’s arms and sat on one of the single sofas near the fireplace. Arielle herself had walked towards the door.
The girl called out to the people who had been waiting for a long time. William, Kael, Lazarus, Priest Elis, Lucas, and Sasha waited patiently in front of the king’s study.
"Come on in," said Arielle, making them flock into the room.
The atmosphere of the small party became awkward because Ronan was still in his place not greeting the other guests.
Lazarus cleared his throat, giving Arielle a code to bring him the man’s birthday cake. The man wobbled several times, making the others glance at him. Lazarus started clapping and singing.
"Happy birthday to you..."
"Happy birthday to you..."
William and Sasha also joined in the singing and clapping. Arielle also sang along, but she brought a birthday cake with lit candles closer. Priest Elis, Kael, and Lucas just clapped without singing along. They just felt so awkward.
"Happy birthday, dear Ronan..."
"Happy birthday to you.... Yeay!" Everyone applauded loudly.
Arielle sat smiling, placing her handmade cake in front of Ronan, who was sitting quietly watching.
"In the South, we believe that one candle represents a wish that will be granted. So before blowing this candle, you have to say your wish in your heart," explains Arielle.
Ronan nodded in understanding. Wish? Hm ... there was not much he wanted other than to be happy with Arielle forever. A dozen candles were wasted. It was because, in the end, Ronan only made one request.
Ronan blew out the candle, followed by Lazarus and William, who pulled up the confetti again. Everyone clapped.
"It’s Champagne time!" cried Lazarus, holding up the bottle of champagne they had prepared.
"Yeah! Champagne!" shouted Sasha with joy.
"You can’t," Lazarus cut in, pushing Sasha’s head. The boy raised his mouth, pouting. Lazarus then poured his champagne for everyone except Sasha, Arielle, and Priest Elis. Sasha was still a minor,
Arielle herself never drank alcohol, so she didn’t want to start. Then Priest Elis also had the same reason as Arielle. Lucas took the initiative to pour two glasses of tea for Priests Elis and Arielle and a glass of milk for Sasha.
"Because today is the special day of our esteemed king. I have prepared a special present for you too," said Lazarus excitedly.
"Me too!" said Sasha, not wanting to lose.
Several people got up to reach for their present boxes. Only Arielle sat quietly beside him. Ronan didn’t want to ask, he didn’t want Arielle to feel sad for not giving him a present.
Even so, the girl still smiled faintly, not feeling jealous to see the other presents given to him. It looked like Arielle had already prepared a gift for him. Just thinking about it already made the man’s heart so happy.
Ronan whispered to Arielle.
"You don’t want to give it to me now?" the man asked quietly.
Arielle shook her head. "I’ll give it to you later."
Ronan had Lucas stack all the gifts he received on the side.
"Besides, I’ve made this cake for you. So I hope you can share it with others."
Ronan nodded impatiently to receive the present that Arielle had prepared for him. Arielle cut the cake she made and gave it to Ronan first as the birthday person. She waited for Ronan to taste it first before sharing it with the others.
Sasha was already leaning over impatiently to wait for his turn to taste the cake he’d been wanting to try. This was his first time seeing a birthday cake. He also never celebrated a party.
When William invited Sasha to celebrate the king’s birthday, at Arielle’s invitation, he felt very happy. Even the gift he gave Ronan, was just an object he found by accident and was neatly wrapped in wrapping paper.
The girl looked at Ronan slowly. Everyone there had seen the man’s face. So after taking off his mask to kiss Arielle, he no longer put his mask back on.
Ronan popped a spoonful of cake slices into his mouth. He winced at the pungent sweetness. He didn’t really like sweetness, but the cake tasted good enough to make him put another piece in his mouth. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"How is it? Is it delicious?" asked Arielle anxiously, waiting for an answer from the man.
"Delicious," replied the king.
Arielle sighed in relief. Likewise with Lazarus, William, and Lucas, who saw Arielle’s efforts to make the cake. If Ronan said that the cake wasn’t good, they wouldn’t hesitate to raise a protest.
Arielle was even more confident to share the cake with others. She shared it with Sasha first who had asked when he could taste the cake. Then she shared it with the others.
"Whoa.... This is really good, Your Highness!" praised William. He again put another piece into his mouth. Lazarus nodded in agreement. So did the others. Arielle smiled, satisfied to get positive reviews from all of them.
The girl turned to Ronan, who was no longer touching his cake.
"You don’t like it?" asked Arielle in surprise. She saw that Ronan had not finished the piece of cake she had given him.
"I like it, it’s just that I was wondering when we could just spend some time alone?"
Lazarus, who heard the question gulped down the cake he was eating and then came up with a solution.
"If you’re bored, you can go ahead. We’ll finish all the food that Princess Arielle has made beforehand. And the champagne isn’t finished yet. Besides that, William has also prepared wine for the dessert."
"Wine! Can I taste it?" Sasha asked Lazarus.
"Just finish your milk," said the man, then continued to eat Arielle’s cake.
Ronan had little to do. He knew that the little party would end with William, Lazarus, and Lucas getting drunk. Priest Elis ate only a few cakes and brought the rest to share with his disciples.
Then there was Sasha, who tried to taste the alcohol but failed and grumbled, accompanying the drunken man there. Kael would just sit quietly, keeping them from breaking something in his office.
Ronan trusted Kael a lot. He had a fairly high alcohol tolerance level. At least he could feel relieved to leave his office to Kael.
Ronan didn’t want Arielle to see drunken men at his birthday celebration. Finally, the man got up and grabbed Arielle’s hand.
He cleared his throat. "Okay. I’ll go back to my room. You can do whatever you please."
William and Lazarus clapped happily because it was a sign that they could drink more freely without Ronan stopping them. Ronan took Arielle’s hand and carried all the presents they had given him with one other hand.
"You come with me," said the man, leading Arielle to leave the gang of men who would end up drunk. Well, all except maybe Priest Elis and Sasha.
