Chapter 166: Lazarus And Arielle

In the blessing hall, Arielle met Sasha, who had also just finished praying with several other people.

"What are you doing here?" asked Arielle, who joined Sasha on one of the benches in the hall. She was surprised to see the boy in the Cathedral, of all places.

The boy smiled widely. He looked happy and fresh.

"I don’t steal anymore. I didn’t come here to do it," replied Sasha with a blush on his face, embarrassed by his previous actions. "I’m just praying before starting my morning practice with Lord Kael. Tomorrow, I will be invited to camp in the forest!"

"Camping? In this weather?" asked Arielle worriedly. She glanced briefly at the window and saw a never-ending pile of snow. No matter how clear the skies in the North, the air temperature in this place would still freeze anyone out there.

"You don’t have to worry. This is one of my forms of training to become a great Knight like Lord Kael."

"You’re still a kid, Sasha. Maybe I should talk to Lord Kael so you can go camping next year instead," Arielle said worriedly.

Sasha shook his head quickly. He didn’t want to be left alone in the Colosseum tomorrow. Lord Kael himself had said that Sasha was worthy to join the camp, even though he was still small and his body was not as big as the man.

"Princess, I have great respect for you. However, this time, I won’t listen to you, I am sorry. I’ll still be going camping tomorrow!"

Lazarus, who heard the commotion, looked back and found Kael’s boy and Princess Arielle arguing in the back row of the hall. He looked at his own clothes and judged that he already looked worthy to meet the princess.

"Ladies, it’s nice to meet you here. I hope I can visit you while I’m still in the Capital. Don’t hesitate to invite me if you’re going to have a party," Lazarus said with a wink, making the three women beside him blush.

"You’re going, Lazarus?" asked a woman at his side.

Lazarus brought his face closer to hers, making the other two women purse their lips in jealousy. The man touched her chin and whispered sensually. "You can invite me in tonight. Don’t close your windows."

"Ahem! This is a blessing hall. Let’s maintain our attitude," said another male visitor who sat in front of Lazarus. The man just laughed, then blew a kiss to each of the three women, then walked back towards the bench where Arielle and Sasha were.

"I know you’re very excited. But let’s wait for His Majesty the King to return," Arielle said to Sasha.

"Princess! I’m not as small as you think!" Sasha protested stubbornly.

"Ahem, is there anything I can help you with?" said Lazarus, interrupting the debate in front of him.

Both Sasha and Arielle turned sideways to look at Lazarus who was standing tall with a big smile on his face. Sasha glanced sharply at the man. He still had his own grudge against Lazarus because the man easily broke his stance.

Sasha promised that one day he would fight Lazarus the first thing after becoming a great knight, he would beat the man to a pulp. Then he would also face Lord Kael, to prove that he would grow to be better than his teacher. And then he would fight King Ronan as the final boss.

Arielle felt uncomfortable by Lazarus’ presence. After noticing the man’s presence, Arielle turned to Sasha.

"Okay, if that’s what you want to do. But be careful, okay? I think I must see Priest Elis immediately."

"Eh? You’re leaving? Didn’t you just come?" asked Sasha, who was confused as to why Princess Arielle wanted to go even though she had not prayed yet.

"I forgot something important. I’ll be back later," the girl replied.

Arielle stood up and grabbed her painting while stroking Sasha’s head for a while. "Be a good boy."

"I’ve always been a good boy," Sasha protested, making Arielle laugh.

Lazarus was still smiling even though his presence seemed to be ignored. He stood faithfully in his place. But when the girl left the blessing hall, Lazarus followed.

"Er... Your Highness, can we talk for a bit?" asked Lazarus after he caught up with Arielle, who was walking fast.

Arielle stopped quickly, making Lazarus startled. The girl smiled kindly at him, making Lazarus smile too, even though he was confused by Arielle’s sudden change in attitude.

"I’m sorry, Sir Lazarus. But right now, I have important business and don’t have much time to spare because I have to meet Priest Elis for a bit." Arielle bowed respectfully, then left Lazarus, who was still silent in his place.

Arielle quickened her pace. She panicked as the man ran faster to catch up with her. After she arrived at Priest Elis’s room, Arielle closed the door just before Lazarus entered.

Priest Elis, who had just finished cleaning his room, was startled by the sound of the door thumping.

"Your Highness?" called Priest Elis.He was worried to see Arielle standing breathless, holding the door to his room with both hands. As he approached, Priest Elis furrowed his brows as he saw the door lock board being lowered.

"What is it, Your Highness?" he asked worriedly.

"Ah, Priest Elis..." Arielle glanced at the door behind her. Priest Elis followed the princess’s gaze, but she only smiled when Arielle suddenly shook her head. "Nothing. I just came to see you. You said you have some books on which are simpler."

"But I thought you would come this afternoon. I haven’t even prepared."

"PRIEST ELIS! CAN YOU OPEN THE DOOR!!" someone shouted from behind the door, making Arielle and Priest Elis startled. Several times the door was knocked louder and made Arielle even more panicked.

"Your Highness?" asked the confused Priest Elis.

Arielle and Priest Elis looked at each other. The girl shook her head slowly, asking Priest Elis not to listen to the screams from outside.
