Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 165: Arielle Is Missing Ronan
After putting the rabbits’ food back, Arielle grabbed Lucas’ arm and asked him to sit beside Tania.
"Eh? Your Highness?"
"We’re going to have dinner together," Arielle said, causing Lucas to panic.
"But it’s a dish for you," the man tried to refuse the kind invitation. He didn’t want King Ronan to find out that he had been eating with his future wife during his absence.
Lucas knew how much the king was a possessive type who didn’t like seeing the woman he loved spending time with another man and having dinner together, even though it was not in an intimate setting.
Arielle didn’t hear Lucas’ protest. She divided her steak and some other food into three different plates. "Lucas, you need to eat dinner with us and stopped protesting."
"..." Lucas was at a loss for words.
"This is for you, Tania." Arielle gave one plate to Tania.
"Thank you, Princess," said the servant with a smile. She was used to this kind of treatment. So, she had stopped trying to change Arielle. The princess was truly a woman with a good heart. Tania didn’t wish for Arielle to change.
"And this... for you, Lucas," the girl said after adding a piece of potato for Lucas.
"But... "
"I won’t be able to eat all this food," Arielle explained. She looked at Lucas with a warm smile. "Please help me finish the food so it won’t go to waste."
"But—" Lucas was almost crying. He tried to object but it seemed Arielle could be quite stubborn when need be. She didn’t want to hear no for an answer from Lucas.
"His Majesty won’t know this. Rest here for a while," Arielle said with a smile.
Arielle began to cut the steak and eat it slowly. She nodded her head, asking Lucas to come to eat too. As the man hesitated to touch the knife and fork, Arielle nodded once again. Finally, Lucas relented.
When he saw Tania eating her food, he decided to comply with Arielle’s request and started eating. Though he could go for food later. Why would it be so hard to refuse if it was Princess Arielle’s request...?
Was this how King Ronan felt when Princess Arielle asked him not to kill game animals during the first hunt and also to return them to the forest? Or when they brought a child into the palace? Lucas was deep in thought as he chewed the food in his mouth.
King Ronan was not a soft man, he was far from it. He didn’t care about animals or small children before. If anything, he considered children a nuisance. But now, look at him. He let the animals he hunted live and even roam around the palace, destroying his study once, without consequences.
He also accepted the boy they found on the road to stay in the palace. Truly, Princess Arielle had changed the king so much.
"How is it? Delicious?" asked Arielle with sparkling eyes that Lucas couldn’t resist any longer. "Do you like the food?"
"Very, Your Highness," Lucas replied shyly. "Thank you for dinner."
"Then eat well. You’ve worked hard today," replied Arielle while patting Lucas on the back, making the man had to stop himself from crying because he was feeling so moved.
"Hm! Thank you very much, Your Highness."
After Arielle had finished her dinner, she spent the rest of her time reading books. When her eyes started to feel tired, she climbed into her bed followed by the rabbits, especially Riel, who had become more spoiled recently since Ronan left.
Speaking of that man, Arielle had no idea what the man was up to. Ronan didn’t tell her what he was going to do. He only said that he had something important to do in the border area. She was wondering where he was and what he was doing.
Arielle slept while hugging Riel and the other four rabbits. They were warm, which reminded Arielle of Ronan.
"What is he doing?" asked Arielle to Riel, who had found a comfortable position to fall asleep. "I miss him..."
That night Arielle deliberately did not close the window curtains so she could look up at the very dark sky. There wasn’t a single star there, unlike the Nieverdell sky.
Arielle closed her eyes slowly. She hoped that where Ronan was, he could see the stars. At least so that the man could see the beauty of the night sky when it was covered with stars.
***
Morning came again. Arielle had woken up and was getting ready for the day. Today she had promised to meet Priest Elis to learn some basic things about the Cathedral.
She slept very soundly last night with her bunnies, also sleeping. That night Arielle did not have a dream, so she could wake up early with a body that felt very fresh.
Arielle didn’t wait for Tania to get ready. After adding some details to the painting, Arielle took it to the dining room for breakfast. Tania was quite surprised when she saw Arielle had woken up earlier than her.
"Did you sleep well, Princess?" she asked Arielle.
The girl nodded enthusiastically. "Very. That’s why I can wake up refreshed this morning."
Tania smiled and took the painting that Arielle had made to put on another chair so that Arielle could sit comfortably in her own chair.
"I’ll bring your breakfast right away."
"Thank you, Tania. Have you had breakfast yourself?"
"Yes, Your Highness."
Arielle smiled and waited in the dining room alone. She looked at the atmosphere outside the palace, which was brighter than usual. She rose from her chair to approach the window. Arielle looked up for the sun but found nothing above the grey sky.
Breakfast was immediately served, and Arielle ate it voraciously. After filling her stomach until it was full, Arielle invited Tania to go with her outside of the Whitethorn Palace.
At least before they started their activity, Arielle wanted to pray first. That’s why she was headed to the Cathedral.
