Chapter 48: Limited Edition Type Of Man

Meanwhile, Yvette’s name was now everywhere, people were rallying around her online, seeing her not just as an actress who had disappeared from the limelight or as a rookie but as a victim of betrayal and manipulation.

"Yvette we’re so sorry. We had no idea what you went through."

"Stay strong, Yvette. We believe in you."

"I used to be a great fan of your’s in the past, I thought you took time off acting. I didn’t know things were like this"

"We await your comeback"

"You deserve better. Don’t let them win."

"We, the YJ Armies are forever with you"

Yvette sat on the edge of the couch, her phone clutched tightly in her hand, the screen illuminating her face with the latest barrage of online commentary.

The storm of accusations against her were no longer to be found anywhere again as the tide had turned in her favour already.

Netizens flooded the comment sections, and even her page expressing their regret for misjudging her.

"I can’t believe I thought she was the villain! Yvette deserves better!"

"Sorry, Yvette! I judged too quickly. You’ve been through so much!"

"Nadia and the CEO of Silverscreen Horizons Entertainment are the real monster here! #JusticeForYvette"

She scrolled through the comments, a mixture of disbelief and relief washing over her. She was so engrossed in the act that she didn’t even notice Zeke entering through the front door.

He silently placed his briefcase on a couch nearby and tiptoed behind her as he asked with a bemused smile.

"Is that phone more handsome than I am?". He teased, leaning against the couch with a playful grin.

"When did you arrive?". Yvette was so surprised and immediately dropped her phone. "I didn’t notice your arrival".

"It was obviously when you were too engrossed in whatever was going on your cellphone". He frowned but as she pulled him into her embrace, the frown melted and disappeared and he smiled, hugging her tightly.

"Ezekiel?". She called out as she leaned against his chest.

"Hmm".

"Thank you, for everything. I appreciate all your support and actions through all of this".

"It’s nothing Yvette. We’re a married couples and this is what couples are supposed to do, standing by each other. I just want to help you get the justice you deserve much sooner. I told you I’ll always have your back, didn’t I?".

"Ever since I’ve met you, you never made me sad or regret meeting you. On the other hand, I’m quite much grateful for the twist of events back then or where would I ever meet someone like you, and to think I was a reluctant bride at first" . Yvette said, giggling at the last part of her sentence.

"Now that you’re aware that you can’t ever meet someone like me then you should treat me much better, Wifey". He grinned , pressing a kiss on her forehead. "Let me tell you, I am once in a lifetime type of man, limited edition with the only copy standing right before you"

Yvette giggled and suddenly let out an involuntarily low groan, her hand instinctively pressing against her lower abdomen.

Zeke immediately pulled away from her to check her over, concern immediately clouding his features. "What’s wrong, Yvie?". He asked worriedly.

She winced again as she replied, her face pale. "It’s just cramps... It started a little while ago, but now it’s getting worse."

Zeke bent low beside her , his hand gently brushing her cheek before moving to her stomach. "You should rest". He said, his voice soft but firm. "Let me help you to the bed."

Without waiting for a reply, he gently lifted her up, supporting her as they made their way to the bedroom.

Yvette leaned on him gratefully, the pain ebbing slightly as she settled into the comfort of their bed. He carefully and attentively tucked the blankets around her, ensuring she was comfortable.

"I’ll go get the heat flask". He said, kissing her forehead before disappearing down the stairs and into the kitchen.

Within minutes, he returned with a warm flask wrapped in a cloth. He placed it gently on her abdomen before covering her up with the blanket again, the warmth slowly soothing the cramps.

"Better?" He asked, sitting down beside her and brushing a few stray hairs from her face.

Yvette nodded, managing a small smile. "Thank you... I don’t know what I’d ever do without you."

Zeke smiled, though his worry didn’t completely fade. "I still have some work to finish in the study, but I’ll be back soon after a while. Rest and don’t wait up for me, okay?"

"Dinner’s on the . ."

"I’ll have it after I’m done, okay?". He pecked her forehead and left, slamming the door shut behind him.

Yvette nodded again, watching as he left the room and a deep sense of gratitude washed over her. How had she been lucky enough to find someone like him? . He had pressing matters to attend to at work yet he still tended to her matters online. She couldn’t help but smile as she closed her eyes, allowing herself to drift into sleep.

The next morning, the sunlight filtered softly through the curtains, casting a warm glow on the bed. Yvette was still sleeping soundly when her phone began to ring, the shrill sound cutting through the stillness of the room.

Zeke who had just finished preparing breakfast stepped into the room, not wanting to disturb her rest, he finally decided to answer the call after it’s incessant ringing, he reached over and grabbed the phone from the nightstand.

"Hello?". He answered quietly, stepping out of the bedroom.

There was a brief pause on the other end before a familiar voice broke the silence. "Why are you answering Yvette’s call?. Why is she with you in the first place and this early too?".

"Isn’t it all obvious, Yvette and I are legally married so if she doesn’t live with me, should she live with you?". Zeke replied Manuel’s question impatiently.

Manuel, on the other end of the line took a sharp intake a breath , pausing for a while before asking in a tense voice, almost accusingly. "Is this your doing?. Ezekiel, is all the chaos online your doing, are you the mastermind?".

Zeke chuckled and replied calmly, unfazed. "Firstly, are you worth it?". He asked and then continued. "Besides, if all those were my doing you wouldn’t have a chance to still be standing in one piece" .

"You . ." Manuel was stunned and could only stammer. He then scoffed and threatened. "Aren’t you worried or afraid I’ll release the news about the both of you, about your relationship?. That’ll be even more of a bigger uproar, since I’m going down, I’ll drag her along".

"You’re too noisy". Zeke replied, stunning Manuel once again.

"You . ."

"You want to threaten me?. You should take a clear look at your situation first. I can end you at the flick of my fingers".

Manuel seemed momentarily stunned, his silence palpable. "Please put Yvette on the phone, it’s urgent". He demanded finally, a hint of desperation in his voice as his smug self was no longer anywhere to be found.

"She’s sleeping". Zeke replied, glancing back at the bedroom door. "I’m not disturbing her just because you suddenly decided you want to talk. It’s urgent for you, not her."

Just then , Yvette opened the door standing in her pajamas as she rubbed her eyes sleepily, her hair tousled but her face brightened by a smile. "Who are you calling so early?" She asked, her voice still groggy.

"Good morning". Zeke smiled, leaning in to kiss her softly. "It’s Manuel."

She blinked in surprise but didn’t seem particularly fazed, after all he had been phoning her relentlessly since the day before.

"Manuel? What does he want?"

Zeke quietly handed her the phone. "He’s got something to say."

She took the phone, holding it up to her ear. "Hello". She said, nonchalantly.

"Yvette ". Manuel began, his voice a mixture of urgency and hesitation. "I need you to refute all the news online."

"Why should I?". She replied, a hint of defiance in her tone. "I’m not that invincible as you think, even you failed at it so why me ".

There was silence on the other end, and she could hear him sigh. "I just want to apologize for everything that happened. I didn’t mean for things to escalate like this."

"But I’m glad it did". Yvette replied curtly then continued. "Yunno, I also want to thank you for allowing me to meet someone who truly love and adore me just like I do".

Manuel was silent for a moment. "Can we meet? I need to explain myself in person."

"Sure". She raised an eyebrow, her eyes flicking to Zeke who was watching her intently.

Without missing a beat, she agreed almost immediately, her voice steady. "How about the old Italian place downtown? I’ll see you there."

Manuel was so surprised that he had to ask again to be sure. "You will?"

"Yes." She ended the call and handed the phone back to Zeke who looked at her with a mixture of curiosity and concern.

"You’re not really going to meet him, are you?" . He asked, concern etched on his face.
