LOVE IN PARIS: Married To My Brother-in-law-Chapter 36: I’ll Take Mine, Doubled
Yvette also stoped and looked at her but she couldn’t remember meeting her anywhere. "I really don’t know. I just feel like I’ve seen you somewhere but I don’t remember where either".
"Then it seems I need to go back into taking many roles then, even you couldn’t recognize me. I don’t believe I’ll have a day like this". Celyn harrumphed and Yvette smile
"You’re also an actress?".
"Of course". Celyn replied haughtily. "Well it’s okay that you don’t recognize me , you’re a newcomer so I’ll take the trouble to introduce myself".
"I’m Jocelyn. I was at the audition for the role of the Lin Chuxia you’re playing but I failed the audition. I had high hopes for myself but that wasn’t the end anyways". Jocelyn explained as she flagged down a waiter.
Now Yvette understood why she felt the lady looked familiar, so she was the Jocelyn who lost the role to her.
"Eat , eat , eat up. Don’t be shy , we’re friends now." Jocelyn chatted lively and Yvette picked up her cutleries though she kept casting a measured glance at her . About the online riot few week ago, she still hadn’t found the mastermind, was it Nadia or this supposedly harmless lady before her.
"How’s life been on set , hope you’re good and getting well along with others?. If you need my help don’t hesitate to reach out to me then." Jocelyn said and Yvette could only nod, from her words it did seem she was unaware of what had happened online then.
But she still needed a confirmation so she asked. "Jocelyn?".
"You can call me Celyn, there’s no need to be formal. We’re friends". Jocelyn said as she chunked another glass of wine.
"Okay". Yvette smiled. "Something did happen to me on set, aren’t you aware?".
"Really?. What happened to you?. Are you okay now, life on set is really something". Jocelyn sighed as she asked, concerned.
"Nothing much, I was just embroiled in a scandal, it was an orchestrated campaign to smear my reputation but it turns out for good, like a blessing in disguise". Yvette explained calmly. "You haven’t heard about it?".
Jocelyn nodded as she dropped her cutleries. "It’s good that it turns out to be a blessing in disguise". Jocelyn smiled. "Perhaps I haven’t heard or known about it because I’ve been away from the social media".
"Ever since the audition, I’ve been at home all this while. I’ve actually been taking care of my brother. He’s critically ill and needs someone so that explains my absence these past weeks and I haven’t even had the chance to check my phone much lately, I had no idea such thing happens to you but thankfully it turns out well ".
"Today’s my first day of coming out in months, I came to get some foods then I came across that scum, I couldn’t believe he was cheating on me. Hmmph"
Yvette regarded her with a mix of suspicion and curiosity. Jocelyn’s expression seemed genuinely concerned, not a trace of malice in her eyes. Yvette stayed silent for a moment, studying her expression.
Seeing Yvette’s hesitation, Jocelyn quickly pulled out her phone, her fingers tapping the screen as she scrolled through her page and notifications.
A sudden wave of confusion and anger washed over her face as she looked at the numerous messages and social media posts related to the on -set drama involving Yvette.
"Oh my gosh,". Jocelyn sighed I’m confusion, her eyes widening as her fingers danced across the screen of her cellphone as she scrolled through her phone reading through the news.
"I had no idea something like this happened... I swear, Yvette I didn’t do anything nor did I instruct anyone to do anything! I know people probably think I’m desperate because I lost the role, but I wouldn’t—couldn’t—hurt anyone just for that."
Yvette nodded and watched her, waiting. She wanted to see how genuine Jocelyn was.
"I come from a wealthy family" . Jocelyn continued, her voice urgent but honest. "I don’t need to fight tooth and nail for a role. I can get any role I desire but then again what’s the point, of all the dramas and shows I’ve worked on , I got them all by my hardwork and talents not by other underhanded means"."
"" Yes, I was upset when I didn’t get the part, but I’m not... evil. I have my limits, you know? Hurting someone to get ahead? That’s not me. I would never harm you or anyone else. Please, believe me."
Yvette et out a small breath and nodded."I know" .
"It wasn’t be then who could it possibly be?". Jocelyn asked , seemingly in thoughts. "Getting rid of you by using my name . . Who could be so despicable?".
"I think I know who it is ". Yvette said quietly, her eyes locking onto Jocelyn’s.
"Just tell me who the bitch is , I’ll give her a taste of her medicine. I promise". Jocelyn fumed as she grabbed her phone which she had dropped in the table earlier.
"But I need you to be patient. Don’t rush to defend yourself or make any statements until I tell you to. If you do, it’ll only make things worse for me." Yvette added and the angry Jocelyn calmed down.
"You’re planning on taking revenge".
"Yes. Nadia and I had quite some past between us but I think now is the best time to settle this or she won’t stop". Yvette sighed.
"I’ve worked with her quite some time, are you sure she’s the mastermind". Jocelyn asked, curiously.
"Absolutely". Yvette nodded. "Nadia excels at hiding her true self and emotion but underneath it all she’s all twisted and disgusting. Don’t just believe anyone. My fiancé left me for her but now she wants to step all over me and I swear I won’t let her and for any actions she’s taken again me, I’ll take mine, doubled ".
"Mens are indeed scum".
"So I need you to keep calm until I tell you to. This occurrence is gone but not forgotten instead it can be used to fan the flames when the time comes". Yvette added patiently.
Jocelyn blinked, taking in the gravity of Yvette’s words. She seemed a bit startled but ultimately nodded, her tone serious. "I understand. I’ll wait for your signal before doing anything. Just... thank you for trusting me enough to tell me."
"It’s okay". Yvette grinned and grabbed her cutleries.
The tension between the duo melted away as they returned to their foods, the mood shifting into a more comfortable atmosphere.
They ordered more food, and soon the dinner turned from tense to lighthearted, their conversation flowing naturally. Yvette soon found herself enjoying Jocelyn’s company. The younger actress was surprisingly easygoing, and as the evening progressed, they exchanged stories and laughed together.
The two women, once rivals for the same role, quickly found common ground. They spoke about the pressures of the entertainment industry, the cutthroat competition, and even shared personal anecdotes about their lives outside of work.
Jocelyn, despite her wealthy background, was warm and sincere, and Yvette appreciated her honesty.
Before long, Yvette phone rang. She glanced at the screen, smiling as she saw the name "Hubby" flashing on the screen. Seems Zeke had arrived already.
Without hesitation, she answered the call.
"Madam". He grinned from the other end of the line. "I’m outside".
"Okay, I’ll be out in a minute," Yvette replied, smiling at the sound of his voice. She could imagine the huge grin on his face already.
When she hung up, Jocelyn who had been casually sipping her drink, suddenly perked up, her curiosity piqued. "Hubby? Wait... are you married?" she asked, eyes wide with surprise.
Yvette smiled, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Yes, but it’s a secret. Not many people know."
Jocelyn burst into laughter, her mood light and playful. "A secret marriage? Wow Yvette, you really know how to keep things interesting!" She leaned forward, still grinning. "But seriously, cherish him. In this century, finding someone you can trust and love is rare."
Yvette smiled softly, appreciating the advice. "I will."
As they both stood up to leave, Jocelyn gave her a warm hug. "Thanks again for trusting me tonight. Let’s keep in touch?"
"Of course,". Yvette replied, feeling a genuine connection with Jocelyn despite the circumstances of their meeting. "Take care of your brother, and I’ll let you know what happens next."
"Sure". Jocelyn smiled as they walked outside.
"We can drop you off also". Yvette suggested and Jocelyn immediately refused.
"I refuse to be stuck with two lovey-dovey birds and be a victim of your display of affection. Did you forget, someone just broke my heart today although it doesn’t hurt because I didn’t expect much from him it was an arranged sort of marriage but I still feel so tired so I beg to differ". Jocelyn declined and rushed towards her car in the parking lot.
Yvette grinned and idly walked towards the dashing figure leaning against a black Porsche with a smile on her lips.
