Chapter 107: Surprise

He leaned back, exhaling deeply. "You know, Yvette for someone who’s so secretive, you’re surprisingly open when it comes to giving advice."

She laughed softly, the sound light and carefree. "What can I say? I like to help."

Tyrell smiled, his earlier tension melting away. "Well, I appreciate it. And for what it’s worth, I think you’re doing the right thing."

Yvette’s smile widened at his words, and for a moment, the room felt lighter, the morning sun streaming through the window casting a warm glow over them.

Few weeks later.

The final scene wrapped up as the golden hues of the evening sun bathed the set in a warm glow.

Exhausted but exhilarated, the cast and crew began packing up their equipment, discussing their plans for the unexpected break.

The director’s announcement of a two-day holiday had been a much needed balm for everyone’s frayed nerves.

Yvette still in her stage costume, let out a deep sigh of relief as she glanced around, noticing the smiles on everyone’s faces.

"Leila!". Yvette walked up to Leila and called out to her , who was busy arranging costumes.

Leila turned, looking slightly frazzled but still excited. "Yes, Yvette?" .

Yvette walked over, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Don’t follow me today, okay? You’ve also been working nonstop. Take this chance to relax and enjoy your time off."

Leila blinked in surprise. "Are you sure? What if you need something?"

"I think someone needs you much more desperately than I do ". She muttered under her breath.

"Huh, what’s that?". Leila asked curiously and Yvette calmly shook her head with a small reassuring smile.

"I’ll be fine. You’ve been taking care of me all this time; it’s your turn to rest. Go have some fun or I’ll really think you’re a fuzzy mother hen ." Yvette joked.

Reluctantly, Leila nodded, her face breaking into a grateful smile. "Thank you, then. I’ll see you in two days, then!"

With the set now emptying, Yvette grabbed her bag and left immediately after changing out of her costume, her heart buzzing with anticipation on what she was about to do.

She had been planning this surprise for weeks, and now she finally had the time to make it happen and she couldn’t wait to see his reaction.

---

Yvette stopped by the bustling grocery store on her way home, her cart quickly filling with fresh produce, premium cuts of meat, fresh vegetables and of course, Zeke’s favorite snacks.

Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she picked out a bouquet of vibrant red roses, imagining the look on his face when he saw what she had prepared.

The drive home felt longer than usual, but her excitement didn’t wane. As soon as she stepped into their cozy apartment, she got to work.

And immediately, the kitchen came alive with activity, the sizzle of meat in the pan, the rhythmic chop of vegetables, and the fragrant aroma of spices filling the air.

Yvette hummed softly to herself, glancing at the clock occasionally to ensure she’d finish everything in time just before he arrives from work.

After hours of cooking, she finally stepped back to admire her handiwork and couldnt help but smile.

The dining table was now adorned with a crisp white tablecloth, the dishes artfully arranged with the roses she’d bought placed at the center. Fairy lights twinkled around the room, casting a warm, romantic glow.

"Perfect, this is just perfect enough". She whispered to herself, a satisfied smile tugging at her lips.

Glancing at her flour dusted hands and slightly disheveled appearance, she decided it would be best to take a quick shower before Zeke arrived even though she had just taken a bath in her room because leaving the set.

She immediately hurried to the bedroom, leaving the table set and the lights dimmed, ready for his arrival.

---

It was nearly an hour later when the sound of keys turning in the lock echoed through the whole house.

Zeke, tall and sharply dressed in a tailored suit, stepped inside, his expression weary from a long day at work. He flicked on the lights and froze, his eyes widening in astonishment as he took in the sight before him.

The sight before him was surreal. The dining table was set with an elaborate feast, several mouthwatering dishes he immediately recognized as his favorites, and the soft glow of the lights gave the room a dreamlike quality.

"Yvie?". He called out, his voice tinged with both confusion and amazement.

He walked further into the house checking the kitchen and the living room, but there was no sign of her. His brow furrowed as he wondered how all this much food had appeared out of nowhere if she wasn’t around

"Yvie, are you here?" He tried again, his voice louder this time but there was still no response, just stillness.

And just as he turned toward the bedroom to check if she was in there, the door swung open, and Yvette burst out, her damp hair cascading over her shoulders and a playful grin on her face.

"Surprise!" . She exclaimed excitedly, launching herself into his arms.

Caught off guard, he stumbled slightly before catching her, a laugh bubbling out of him unexpeectedly . "Yvie!. What on earth?" .

"How’s my surprise?". She asked, her arms wrapped tightly around his neck as she snuggled in closer, surprisingly sniffing his scent, she had missed him so much.

He looked down at her, his eyes softening as a smile spread across his face and he gently patted her head. "I love it. I love you" .

Yvette beamed, her cheeks flushing slightly. "I’ve been planning this for weeks. I wanted to do something special for you and it came out just, I’m so pleased."

He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "You didn’t have to go through all this trouble. Just seeing you is enough for me."

"But I wanted to, I wanted to. She insisted, pulling back to look at him. "You’ve been working so hard, and I wanted to show you how much I appreciate you, I don’t think I’ve ever done something of this sort for you" .

His expression softened further as he cupped her face in his hands. "You’re incredible, Yvie. Thank you."

They stood there for a moment, wrapped in each other’s arms and savoring each other’s scent before she tugged at his hand.

"Come on, let’s eat before the food gets cold!"

The couple’s dinner was a mix of laughter, heartfelt conversations, and stolen glances.

Zeke was left marveled at her cooking, praising each dish with genuine delight.

"Did you really make all this by yourself?". He asked, his fork poised over a delicate piece of steak. "This is the best I’ve ever eaten" .

Yvette couldn’t help but feel pleased and she grinned. "Of course! I wanted it to be perfect."

"Well, you’ve outdone yourself this time". He said, taking another bite. "This is better than any restaurant."

As the evening went on, their conversation turned to lighter topics, funny moments from Yvette’s time on set, stories from his office, and their plans for the future.

"By the way". He said, his tone turning playful, "Dan isn’t going to scold me for stealing his precious actress for today, is he?" . He asked as he caressed her head gently as she laid in his embrace.

Yvette laughed, shaking her head. "Of course not, he personally told us all to take a two days break off , it was much needed."

He nodded approvingly. "Im glad then and especially excited I get to be the one you come home to."

Her heart swelled at his words, and she reached across the table to squeeze his hand. "And I’m glad I get to be the one who makes you smile."

As the night deepened, they moved to the living room, the remnants of their meal forgotten as they curled up on the couch together.

The soft glow of the fairy lights casting a warm halo around them as they talked late into the night, their laughter and whispers filling the room as they couldn’t bear to separate from each other, not even for a moment.

And for Yvette, she felt like the holiday was more than just a break from work, it was a chance to reconnect with the person she loved most.

And as she rested her head on his shoulder, she knew that this was where she was meant to be and couldn’t wait to conclude filming so they could be together without being away from each other for so long again.
