Chapter 99: Chapter 99: It Seems Nadia Willow Kissed Sean Harrison...

"I rarely give flowers to anyone. I even picked this bouquet myself."

Miles Harrison wanted to explain.

The women in his circle all threw themselves at him.

Forget sending flowers—he didn’t need to put in any effort at all. He just had to spend a little money, and those women would be at his beck and call.

Only after finding out that Lucy Shaw’s child wasn’t his did Miles Harrison truly start to see Rory Linden’s good qualities.

Rory Linden might have been a bit dull, strong-willed, and incapable of showing weakness or acting cute. But she gave him a profound sense of security.

In the four years they were together, no matter how seldom they met, he had always firmly believed that Rory Linden would never betray or deceive him.

"Young Master Harrison, you should save this gesture for your next girlfriend." Rory Linden started walking toward the car. "Let’s go, I’m hungry."

"Alright!"

Miles Harrison followed her, holding the flowers himself.

The car pulled up in front of the seafood restaurant he had booked.

Rory Linden remembered this was one of Miles Harrison’s favorite places.

In the past, when they came here to eat, Rory would sit across from him and painstakingly pick all the meat out of the steamed crab for him, arranging it in the crab shell.

All the young master had to do was pick up his chopsticks and eat.

When she did these things, her motivation wasn’t that she liked him.

Rather, it was the constant thought that the Harrington family had been good to her, and she had to take care of their young master.

After they entered the restaurant, Miles Harrison ordered a selection of his favorite seafood, just like he always did.

He didn’t ask for her opinion at all.

Rory Linden didn’t care either.

They sat down in the private room.

Only then did Miles Harrison ask her, "Rory, do you know why I chose this place for dinner?"

"Naturally, it’s because you like the seafood here."

Rory Linden didn’t even have to guess.

When it came to Miles Harrison, his likes and dislikes were written all over his face.

"It’s because we both like it here. I remember you once said the seafood here was delicious."

Miles Harrison’s gaze was fixed intently on Rory Linden.

This was another trick his friends had told him about.

He had been drinking with them a while ago.

His buddies had all adamantly told him that women are more sentimental than men.

Rory Linden had loved him so much before; it was impossible for her to let go of their relationship so easily.

"...Right."

Rory Linden didn’t feel like explaining.

She was afraid the truth would be unpleasant, upsetting the young master and causing him to refuse to give her Auntie Vincent’s phone number.

But Miles Harrison was completely convinced his friends’ tactics were working and pressed on.

"Rory, if I’m not mistaken, you don’t actually like spicy food, do you? The whole thing with the spicy strips was just something you made up to convince my uncle that you did."

"..."

"Actually, you don’t have to force yourself to do things you don’t like. Just be my girlfriend again, and we can go back to how things were before."

Miles Harrison had always believed that as long as he put in a little more effort to coax her than before, Rory Linden would be moved.

Rory Linden didn’t reply.

The server came in with the seafood they had just ordered and poured it all into the steam pot on the table.

The seafood here was all steamed plain, without any seasoning.

The flavor depended entirely on the dipping sauces the customers mixed for themselves.

The server helped them prepare a seafood sauce, then pointed to several small bowls on the table. "The remaining condiments can be added according to personal taste. The Thai chilis are quite spicy, so please add a small amount at a time based on your preference."

"Neither of us eats spicy food, you can take that away," Miles Harrison declared directly.

The server was about to take it, but Rory Linden stopped them.

After the server left, Rory scooped a good half of the small bowl of chopped Thai chilis into her dipping sauce.

"Rory, you..."

"Young Master Harrison, how many times do I have to tell you that I like spicy food before you’ll believe me?"

Rory Linden suddenly felt that she must have really been out of her mind back then.

To hide her own preferences over and over again for a man like this.

Miles Harrison’s brow furrowed slightly.

In a way, it wasn’t that he didn’t believe Rory liked spicy food.

It was that if he admitted it, then...

His entire understanding of her might just be a result of her playing along.

The seafood in the pot cooked quickly.

When the crabs were ready, Miles Harrison naturally placed the two crabs onto two round plates and pushed them both toward Rory Linden.

"Aren’t you having any, Young Master Harrison?" Rory asked.

"I don’t like peeling them. You peel them for me, and I’ll eat them then."

His tone was utterly matter-of-fact.

In the twenty years they had been together, every single thing he didn’t want to do, he had pushed onto Rory Linden just as matter-of-factly. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Things like peeling shrimp and cracking crabs.

Even cutting a steak was something Rory did for him.

However, from the very beginning, most of these were things Rory herself had been willing to do.

She had thought:

*I’m living under their roof. I have to please the young master.*

"Young Master Harrison, I don’t like crab, and I hate peeling them," Rory Linden said, pushing both plates back toward Miles Harrison. "If you want to eat it, you can peel it yourself."

"But you used to..."

"Young Master Harrison, since the very beginning, you have never once cared about my preferences."

Rory Linden knew what the young master was about to say.

She cut him off, answering the question he was about to ask.

Miles Harrison stared at the two crabs in front of him, and his memories suddenly felt like a tangled mess.

In his memory, Rory Linden’s preferences were more or less the same as his.

Apart from not liking thrilling roller coasters at amusement parks or high-difficulty activities like skiing and bungee jumping, at least when it came to food, their tastes were identical.

But now, as he carefully thought back, he discovered...

For all these years, it seemed Rory Linden had never once said what she liked.

Whatever he gave her, she ate.

And so, he had just assumed that her tastes were the same as his.

A strange emotion suddenly surged within Miles Harrison.

It seemed to be...

Guilt.

"Well, then... I’ll peel it myself."

Miles Harrison picked up the crab in front of him.

It was scorching hot.

After tearing off the claws and legs, he realized he didn’t know what to do next.

The edges of the crab shell were sharp. He grimaced, struggling with it for a long time. His hands were cut and bleeding, but he still couldn’t break the crab open.

Rory Linden silently watched the young master torturing the crab with a pained expression on his face.

The crab shell was now stained with blood.

She held back for as long as she could, but finally took two bandages out of her bag. "Young Master Harrison, wash your hands, then put these on. I’ll peel it for you."

"Thanks, Rory."

Miles Harrison felt a wave of relief.

It was the first time he had ever felt that eating crab was such a painful ordeal.

Rory Linden took the crab, wiped the blood off it, and began to break it open bit by bit, picking out all the meat.

It was a large sea crab.

Using the crab cracker, she easily extracted all the meat, placed it on the shell, and handed it to Miles Harrison.

Miles Harrison looked down at the pile of crab meat, then looked up at the woman across from him. "Rory, I know I’ve done a lot of things wrong in the past, but everyone deserves a chance to change, right?"

"Young Master Harrison, after looking around, did you just decide that having me as your nanny was more convenient?"

Rory Linden wiped her fingers clean with a wet wipe.

She didn’t touch the other crab.

Miles Harrison wanted to argue that wasn’t what he was thinking at all.

Before he could speak, the phone on the table chimed twice.

He unlocked it, read the message, and then looked back up at Rory Linden.

"Rory, are you so sure my uncle is a good man?"

As he spoke, Miles Harrison flipped the phone around and pushed it across the table toward Rory Linden.

Rory Linden lowered her gaze.

A short video was playing on the phone screen.

The man and woman in the video both had their backs to the screen.

Even so, Rory Linden recognized them instantly.

The man was Sean Harrison.

Based on her hairstyle and the cheongsam she was wearing, the woman had to be Nadia Willow.

Just as Rory was about to push the phone back...

On the small screen, Nadia Willow raised her arms and wrapped them around Sean Harrison’s neck.

From the videographer’s angle, it looked as if Nadia Willow was kissing Sean Harrison...
